Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy-Chapter 208: Not to be Offended (1st Update)
Huang Xuantian had died at Wu Tian’s hands. Under Xiao Tianzan’s authority, no one present spoke of it. Moreover, the Sword Emperor did not want Wu Tian to become famous by defeating Huang Xuantian, one of the Seven Saints of Dragon Country. Xiao Tianzan’s power and the Sword Emperor’s reputation ensured that everyone who had witnessed Wu Tian’s strength that day obediently kept their mouths shut.
Xiao Tianzan did this because he hoped Wu Tian would be spared from the ensuing trouble. The Sword Emperor, on the other hand, simply did not want Wu Tian to become too famous. The Sword Emperor was preparing to build momentum for his disciple, Murong Ziqi, to establish him as the foremost figure of the younger generation. Naturally, he would not allow Wu Tian’s fame to be mentioned in the same breath as Murong Ziqi’s. The Sword Emperor hoped Wu Tian would come to regret refusing him back in Longjing.
The plane quickly arrived in Peng City. After they disembarked, a line of luxury cars was already waiting outside. One entire row consisted of Lamborghinis. Outside the airport, many bystanders stared in amazement at the scene, with quite a few taking out their phones to take pictures to post on Weibo and their Moments.
As Gona and Nangong Yi stepped out, a young man approached them with a smile. Looking at them both, he said, "I didn’t expect you two to have already become friends. Now there’s no need for me to make introductions."
Upon hearing this, both Gona and Nangong Yi smiled. Nangong Yi was familiar with this young man because Nangong Villa had a cooperative relationship with the Cui Family of Qinghe in Peng City. As for Gona, this was his first time meeting the young man in person. However, they had already spoken on the phone several times regarding a collaboration on his technology-based cultivation equipment with the Cui Family of Qinghe.
This young man was Cui Shanhe, a third-generation member of the current Cui Family of Qinghe.
"It’s truly my honor to know Brother Gona," Nangong Yi said with emotion. "Shanhe, you may not know this, but although he is young, he has already reached the Half-step Innate realm."
"Really?" Cui Shanhe was taken aback.
The other people in the Lamborghinis, all warriors of the Cui Family, overheard this and looked at Gona with surprise.
"To many, reaching the Innate realm is an unattainable dream, but for me, it is well within my grasp," Gona said calmly, yet Nangong Yi and Cui Shanhe could still sense the pride in his voice.
Meanwhile, Wu Tian, Xia Qian, Qin Yuhan, and the little one didn’t leave with Gona and Nangong Yi; they were just passing by.
"What’s Half-step Innate? Is it very impressive?" Qin Yuhan asked Wu Tian, puzzled.
Wu Tian chuckled, his eyes calm but tinged with disdain.
Seeing this, Xia Qian smiled and said, "President Qin, don’t worry. The Half-step Innate realm may be unattainable for mortals, but to your husband, it’s nothing more than an ant beneath his feet. If he wishes to crush one, he can do so with ease."
Qin Yuhan smiled. She liked it when others praised her husband, but she also knew that the more outstanding Wu Tian became, the more women would be drawn to him in the future. But Qin Yuhan had confidence in herself. There can only be one main wife, and that position belongs to me. All other women, no matter how beautiful or wonderful, can step aside.
Upon arriving in Peng City, the first thing Qin Yuhan’s group did was find a hotel.
Gona and Nangong Yi got into Cui Shanhe’s Lamborghini. Gona kept his eyes fixed out the window, watching Qin Yuhan and the others walking down the street.
When Cui Shanhe looked puzzled, Nangong Yi explained the situation between them.
Cui Shanhe chuckled. "So your love rival is that man? And Nangong Yi, you were once defeated by him?"
"Yes," Nangong Yi nodded, letting out a sigh. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of bitterness.
"Don’t worry, leave this to us. Your plan is a good one. Find out where they’re staying, buy the hotel, and then make trouble for them at every turn," Cui Shanhe said, patting his chest. "Leave it all to me. Ever since the Cui Family of Qinghe came to Peng City, we’ve been the top dog here. On our turf, there’s nothing my Cui family can’t do."
Cui Shanhe was brimming with confidence, clearly intending to show off the power of the Cui Family of Qinghe in front of Gona and Nangong Yi. His immediate plan was to take them to some entertainment venues for fun. Afterward, they would investigate where Wu Tian’s group was staying and set their scheme in motion.
The current Family Head of the Cui Family of Qinghe was Cui Shanhe’s father, Cui Ming. However, the true authority holder was still the family’s old master: Cui Ming’s father and Cui Shanhe’s grandfather, Cui Chong.
In the Cui family courtyard, Cui Chong had been leisurely painting when he received a call from an old friend: Xiao Liang. The Five Surnames and Seven Families once had a glorious era, and they shone in modern times as well. For instance, an entire generation of them had all enrolled in Shuimu University. Cui Chong and Xiao Liang had been classmates, and Cui Chong was puzzled as to why his old friend would be calling him.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Xiao Liang stated his purpose. He warned Cui Chong not to offend a certain person. While Xiao Liang said it wasn’t his place to interfere in matters between the Cui Family of Qinghe and the Rothschild Family, he felt it necessary to warn his old friend about Wu Tian—lest the Cui Family of Qinghe be wiped out in this generation.
Cui Chong hadn’t expected Xiao Liang to bring up such a matter. After hanging up the phone, his expression grew grave.
Cui Ming came into the courtyard and, noticing his father looked troubled, approached him. "Father, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"Cui Ming, do you believe a power that transcends the Martial Path can exist in this modern city?"
What? Cui Chong’s words startled Cui Ming. He couldn’t comprehend why his father would ask such a thing. Seeing his father’s serious demeanor, Cui Ming replied earnestly, "Father, I don’t believe so. The strongest force in this city is the Martial Path, and the strongest individual is the Sword Emperor. The greatest powers here are our Five Surnames and Seven Families and the Jianghu sects. Beyond that, there is nothing else."
"Is that so?" Cui Chong fell back into deep thought.
"Yes," Cui Ming nodded.
"No!" Suddenly, Cui Chong shook his head. "Ming’er, my old friend says such a power exists, and if he says so, it must be true. I trust him."
Cui Chong knew Xiao Liang well. When Xiao Liang was expelled from the Xiao Family of Lanling, he didn’t ask for anyone’s help. Xiao Liang was a man of integrity. A man like that wouldn’t lie, much less make such a joke.
"Investigate for me," Cui Chong said hurriedly. "Find out if a man named Wu Tian has come to Peng City."
"Father, why are you looking for this person? If you want to see him, I’ll have my men drag him here," Cui Ming said.
He was shocked when his father immediately barked, "Shut up! Remember, do not disturb him. Find his whereabouts secretly. If he discovers us, we must treat him as an honored guest. He is someone we absolutely cannot afford to offend."
