Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The Malice of the World

The Corpse Turtle fixed its gaze on the little girl. She noticed and glared back furiously, as if entering a staring contest to see who was more ferocious.

This girl... what’s wrong with her? Isn’t she afraid of me? the Corpse Turtle fumed. With that thought, it let out a strange, ghostly shriek that sent shivers down the spines of those who heard it, causing their hair to stand on end.

"Ugh, that sounds horrible," the little girl grumbled unhappily in Wu Tian’s arms. She much preferred pleasant sounds, and the Corpse Turtle’s screech was worse than a pig being slaughtered.

That’s it. I’ve had enough. This young lady can’t take it anymore!

The little girl wiggled her bottom, signaling for Wu Tian to set her down. He immediately obliged. This Corpse Turtle hadn’t even reached the so-called Innate realm, so she would have no problem dealing with it.

"Wu Tian, what are you doing?" Zhao Zetian exclaimed in disbelief.

"What do you think?" Wu Tian replied indifferently, ignoring him.

Before Zhao Zetian could say more, one of the Xieling Strongmen gasped, "How cruel."

The Mount Mover Daoist had the same thought. He sized Wu Tian up and down. With his heroic features, Wu Tian didn’t seem like a ruthless person, but the Daoist now felt he had been mistaken.

A tiger, however vicious, won’t eat its own cub. But this Wu Tian? He’s putting his own daughter in front of him as a shield? This man is terrifying... far too terrifying.

Wu Tian didn’t care what others thought. He simply smiled at his daughter and said, "Go on, do what you want to do."

"Okay," the little girl responded. She turned to the Corpse Turtle, snorted, and declared, "I don’t like you. I’m going to punish you in the name of the moon!"

Zhao Zetian and the others exchanged glances, momentarily dumbfounded.

"Such an adorable child. What a pity," a Xieling Strongman murmured softly.

The Mount Mover Daoist nodded in agreement. He saw the little girl’s cute and clever appearance, a true uncut gem. Unfortunately, with a father like Wu Tian, she was being corrupted!

How can this Corpse Turtle be compared to a common cockroach? Do you really think a child can handle it?

"Mr. Wu Tian, can she really do it?" Lin Zhan, who was also fond of the little girl, asked Wu Tian in a low, worried voice.

"Don’t worry," Wu Tian chuckled. Even if she couldn’t defeat the Corpse Turtle, he was still here. Who could possibly harm his daughter? Besides, the girl was an exceptionally talented fighter. Even before learning any of Wu Tian’s techniques, she was already the undisputed champion of her kindergarten. Fighting seemed to be instinctual for her.

The Corpse Turtle crawled toward the little girl. She rubbed her hands together in anticipation but deliberately put on a look of fear. Why? Because back in kindergarten, whenever she showed a hint of excitement for a fight, the other kids would immediately beg for mercy or run away. She had finally found a worthy opponent; how could she let it get scared off?

The Corpse Turtle, completely unaware of her thoughts, was delighted to see her feigned terror. Be afraid... yes, be afraid! I love seeing you humans make that face. In a moment, I’ll devour you in one bite. What a treat!

Finally, the Corpse Turtle crawled right up to the little girl. Zhao Zetian, Zhao Mulan, and the others were panicking, unable to watch.

But then, the girl suddenly stomped forward, her foot landing with inexplicable force right on the back of the Corpse Turtle’s shell. She burst out laughing. "Hehehe, you fell for it! Now you can’t escape."

In an instant, the entire atmosphere shifted.

"What in the...?"

The little girl’s movement had been so fast it left Zhao Zetian, Zhao Mulan, and the others utterly stunned. Before their very eyes, the child who had seemed terrified just moments ago was now wildly arrogant and smug.

The Corpse Turtle was also dumbfounded. It was a wolf facing what it thought was a little lamb, only for the lamb to suddenly transform into a ferocious tiger. It struggled to move, not wanting to be stepped on, but she had it pinned so tightly that even twitching was difficult. Even an idiot like me knows by now that this isn’t a little girl, but a little monster! What am I, a mere Corpse Turtle? A girl this young being so terrifying... *she’s* the real monster, isn’t she?

The Corpse Turtle was terrified. It let out a strange, low whimper—it was begging for mercy.

I don’t want to leave the stone coffin anymore! The child outside is too scary!

"Thinking of running? In front of *me*, you think you can escape? Hmph!" The little girl was now full of swagger. With one hand on her hip, she declared in the tone of a gang leader, "I said I would punish you in the name of the moon, and I will! My word is my bond! What would people think of me then? Don’t I have a reputation to uphold?"

Zhao Zetian and the others were speechless.

Finally, the little girl lifted her foot, only to swing it as if kicking a soccer ball. The air whooshed from the sheer, immense power of the kick.

I have to escape! I have to escape! I quit the Jianghu! The Corpse Turtle felt the world’s deep malice toward it. Otherwise, why would I run into a little Ominous Star right after a full meal? This is no different from a death row inmate eating his last meal before being dragged off for execution!

The Corpse Turtle leaped up, trying to flee. But the little girl’s kick was too fast, a strike powerful enough to kill a tiger.

"ARGH!"

The kick landed squarely, sending the Corpse Turtle flying into a wall, where it exploded on impact. The very same creature that had just devoured a man and terrified the entire group had been killed with a single kick from a child.

"Is she really human? Not an alien?" The sisters, Zhao Zetian and Zhao Mulan, were dumbfounded, their pretty mouths hanging open in disbelief.

"This..." The Mount Mover Daoist and the Xieling Strongmen were at a loss for words. This was simply a prodigy.

In their tomb-raiding careers, they had seen their fair share of reavers. But what they witnessed today—a Vampire and the King of the Corpse Turtles—was more thrilling than all their past expeditions combined. Yet, the child was even more terrifying. How could a child be so powerful? No matter how they thought about it, it just wasn’t normal.

Ultimately, the Mount Mover Daoist and the Xieling Strongmen came to one conclusion: this child was not human.

"Even the techniques from the Martial Arts World couldn’t make a child this powerful," the Mount Mover Daoist whispered to one of the Xieling Strongmen.

"Exactly. That Wu Tian... I bet he’s not her biological father," the strongman replied.

The Mount Mover Daoist glanced at Wu Tian, seeing nothing remarkable about him. If Wu Tian were that powerful, he would have stepped in the moment the Vampire and the Corpse Turtle appeared. A true master can never resist the itch for a worthy challenge. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Little did they know, in Wu Tian’s eyes, creatures like vampires and Corpse Turtles were utterly boring. Paying no heed to their thoughts, Wu Tian walked toward the open stone coffin to see what treasures lay inside.
