Chapter 160: Chapter 160 The Story of Tomb Raiding

Wu Tian, Lin Zhan, and the little one decided to go to Longjing.

After they met, Lin Zhan smiled. "I’ve already bought our plane tickets."

"Do you like taking the plane?" Wu Tian asked, looking at the little one.

The little one shook his head. "I want to fly on my own."

Wu Tian chuckled. "Besides, planes are too slow."

Planes are slow? Lin Zhan was speechless. "Even if you use Qinggong, which is faster than a car, there’s no way it’s faster than a plane, right?"

Wu Tian shook his head. "Qinggong? I don’t know how to do that."

"That’s right, my Papa doesn’t know Qinggong," the little one cried out, catching Lin Zhan off guard. Then, his tone shifted abruptly. "But my Papa can fly."

Wu Tian nodded, then picked up the little one. Grabbing Lin Zhan’s shoulder with his free hand, he pushed off from the ground and soared into the air.

With his former cultivation, crossing to the other side of Earth in a single step would have been a trivial matter. However, Wu Tian was only at the Foundation Establishment realm now. He had to land and rest in every city they passed, which allowed the little one to enjoy the local cuisine. The little one was ecstatic, giggling happily the entire way.

Even so, they still arrived in Longjing in a very short amount of time.

「Shuimu University」

Shuimu University was named for its clear waters and illustrious reputation. Within the Dragon Country, only Longjing University could claim to be its equal.

Outside Shuimu University, Wu Tian, the little one, and Lin Zhan were waiting. It was evening, when classes had ended, and students were leaving the campus in small groups.

After waiting a while, a middle-aged man in his forties finally walked out. He wore gold-rimmed glasses and exuded a scholarly aura; at a glance, he was clearly a man of profound knowledge. He must have also been a good teacher, as many students saluted him with sincere respect upon seeing him.

Only one older man, who spat on the roadside as he passed by, chuckled derisively. "So self-righteous. Let me tell you, times have changed. If you don’t join us, you’re in for a world of hurt." After speaking, the old man in the Zhongshan suit departed.

"I... I’ve recently heard a rumor," Lin Zhan said, looking at Wu Tian with a complicated expression. "It’s going around Longjing that Professor Wu Cheng’en is a descendant of *that* person. In that case... wouldn’t that also make you..." His eyes filled with even greater respect as he spoke of that person. "Should we go over and see him?" Lin Zhan asked cautiously.

"Of course," Wu Tian nodded.

When Wu Tian walked up to Wu Cheng’en carrying the little one, with Lin Zhan following behind, the professor was taken aback. He completely ignored Lin Zhan. He couldn’t, however, simply laugh off Wu Tian’s distinguished presence and the little one’s cuteness. Besides, he felt a strange sense of familiarity with the two of them.

"And you are?"

"Wu Tian," he stated his name simply.

Wu Cheng’en’s eyes lit up.

The little one also called out, "And me! I’m even more amazing."

"And you are?" Wu Cheng’en asked.

"Gugu," the little one grinned. "Surprised, aren’t you?"

Wu Cheng’en gave a dry laugh. Talking with this child was simply exasperating.

"This isn’t the time for pleasantries. I need to know where he has gone," Wu Tian said, getting straight to the point.

Wu Cheng’en knew who Wu Tian was talking about. When that man had returned to Longjing all those years ago, he had mentioned having a son whom he had named Wu Tian.

Wu Cheng’en sighed. "Where did he go? I truly don’t know. I am only an external disciple."

Wu Tian’s brow furrowed slightly. He sensed that Wu Cheng’en was either unwilling to speak or wasn’t telling the whole story.

"Speak!" Wu Tian demanded coldly, his eyes boring into Wu Cheng’en.

Even if he were an elder, that meant little in his eyes. The emperors of the mortal realm were nothing but stones in his sight, so what then of Wu Cheng’en?

Under Wu Tian’s intense gaze, Wu Cheng’en felt a chilling terror. Not even the elders of his own family had ever made him feel this way.

"You... You are no simple man," Wu Cheng’en finally said with feeling after a long moment.

"Speak," Wu Tian repeated, his voice unchanged. He had no interest in making idle chat with any elder; to him, it was just a waste of time.

"I really don’t know where he went, but..." Something occurred to him, and Wu Cheng’en frowned. "The last time he left, it was for a mission. After that, I never heard from him again."

"What mission?" Wu Tian asked.

"Tomb Raiding," Wu Cheng’en sighed.

Tomb Raiding is a professional term. That’s the nice way of putting it; in reality, it’s just grave robbing. The Dragon Country has a custom of burying the dead with grave goods. From monarchs and nobles down to the common folk, people would place items their loved ones cherished in life within their tombs. For this reason, many people in the Dragon Country dreamed of raiding tombs, and some had even become wealthy doing so.

"He went tomb raiding and vanished without a trace... could he have run into a ’zombie’?" Wu Tian mused aloud.

"You... you know about ’zombies’?" Wu Cheng’en was startled. When the War God and the King of Soldiers had come to him back then, they had specifically asked for his help in finding information on Tomb Raiding.

The term is jargon used by tomb raiders. A "zombie" refers to a well-preserved corpse that has not decayed. Running into a "big zombie" means trouble—things like actual ghouls, evil spirits, or other foul creatures. A "dry zombie" is a corpse that has rotted down to a pile of bones, while a "meaty zombie" is one that has many valuables on its body.

"Tell me exactly what you know." Wu Tian’s expression turned grim. If that man had died in a tomb, it would explain why he never returned to see Murong Yezi all these years.

Wu Cheng’en realized this nephew who had appeared out of nowhere was no ordinary person. Stunned, he thought for a moment before saying, "The tomb he was raiding was from the Three Kingdoms Period, belonging to a great sage. I don’t know which sage, exactly. However, Mouse Tooth from the Liuli Factory might know. Your father went to him once to buy tomb raiding tools."

Wu Tian nodded. It seemed a trip to the Liuli Factory was in order. He was also curious about the place. The Liuli Factory wasn’t a factory at all, but a street about 800 meters long. In the past, it was known for selling brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones, but later on, all sorts of strange and curious items began to be sold there in secret.

Since I’m in Longjing, how could I not go take a look? A mighty dragon crossing the river—who could stand in my way?
