Return of The Alpha Heiress-Chapter 70: Clarissa – The Witch
The wooden stick I used to practice spear fighting was only a few steps away. With two long strides, I grabbed it and swung it straight at Rudy, who was still turning toward Eson.
BAM!
The loud impact echoed again. The attention of all four werewolves snapped back to me.
Eson moved fast and attacked the closest werewolf near him.
These rogues had spent years as thugs. They were used to brawling. They quickly regained their senses and began to fight back.
I faced two of them. Eson handled the other two.
My spear moved swiftly, keeping the large werewolves from getting close.
"Attack her left side! That sneaky girl doesn’t have a left hand!" Rudy shouted.
He was still conscious, but unable to move. It seemed his bones were shattered by my earlier strike.
Just as Rudy said, one rogue attacked my left side.
What he got instead was the sharp claw from my left hand.
My claw was strong enough to tear through his facial skin, forcing him back as blood spilled everywhere.
I couldn’t see Rudy, but I was sure he was shocked.
The other werewolf, seeing his companion injured, became furious. He attacked wildly, biting down hard enough to snap my wooden stick in half.
I knew I had pushed them too far. If they became desperate, I might not be able to handle both of them.
I had to end this now.
I threw away the broken stick and moved nimbly toward the werewolf who broke it.
My right hand grabbed his neck. My left hand blocked his claws with my own claw.
Crack. With a single twist, his neck snapped. His body stopped struggling.
I had killed someone...
"He is a criminal. His death will save many lives." Loodie’s voice echoed in my mind, shielding me from the guilt slowly creeping into my heart.
’Loodie is right. They would hurt and kill innocent people. Their deaths are not something I should regret.’
With that thought, I turned to the remaining werewolf. His face was covered in blood, and one of his eyes was injured.
With only one eye open, we stared at each other. I gave him a cold, sharp look.
The anger in his eyes turned into fear. He suddenly shifted back into his human form. His body trembled as he spoke in terror.
"You... you’re The Witch!"
’The Witch?’ Ella had called me that too.
A crooked smile formed on my lips, making the rogue, who seemed only a few years older than me, desperately try to stand.
I stopped him instantly, gripping his neck. Up close, I could see all his hair standing on end.
In a playful tone, I said, "Yes. I am The Witch."
"Please forgive me! Save me! I won’t do bad things anymore. I won’t hurt or kill anyone ever again!" he begged, crying hard.
With that, all six criminals were defeated. Eson had already subdued his two opponents.
I knew Eson could handle them. He had taken several punches from me before and survived head-on, unlike the first werewolf who attacked me and ended up near death.
Eson then dealt with the six criminals.
Five of them were badly injured but still alive. He buried their bodies, leaving only their heads above the ground, far from the cliff. The warriors would be searching the forest tonight to capture rogues.
He took the last one away, the one who had died. I didn’t want to ask where.
After everything was done, we prepared ourselves before nightfall. We made sure no traces were left behind.
While cleaning the bloodstains, Eson spoke, "I just came back from the forest edge. There’s new information about the people you asked about."
I turned to him, questioning.
He explained,
"The Greens tried to take over all of Larry Green’s inheritance, the one he received from his grandmother of the Grey Pack. But the Greys blocked them and said the inheritance would only be given to its rightful owner."
I almost laughed bitterly. The Greens really had no shame, trying to steal their own son’s inheritance.
Thankfully, Larry had already settled everything before going to the capital.
Eson continued,
"It seems the training camp for selecting Lycan King candidates is extremely strict. They can’t contact Larry at all. Half of Larry’s inherited wealth has been given to the Greens’ former adopted daughter. She was exiled, and no one knows if she’s still alive."
When he said the last part, Eson looked at me carefully.
I stayed silent. He didn’t ask further.
Then he continued, still holding back more information. "In the Brown Pack, Alpha Ryan has officially been replaced. His entire family will leave the Brown Pack." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
I winced and muttered to myself, filled with melancholy. "Why do they have to leave too?"
"They’ll die if they don’t," Eson answered seriously, even though I hadn’t asked him directly.
He was right. Still, I felt even more lost, especially since I didn’t know where they were going.
I didn’t have a home. But they were like people from my hometown. People I would always miss and want to see again. If they left, the Brown Pack would no longer feel like hometown.
"I’ll go to the Brown Pack tomorrow," I said suddenly.
"The Brown Pack is small, with weak security. You can enter easily. But are you sure? What if you’re ambushed there?" Eson asked worriedly.
He didn’t know my situation, but he seemed to guess a little from the information I had asked him to gather.
"I’ll be careful," I said stubbornly.
No matter what, I had to see them one last time.
Eson didn’t say anything more. He knew we were only acquaintances, and it wasn’t his place to give advice.
Soon, night fell.
We hid in silence, bodies tense, ears straining for any sound around us.
Before Eson could warn us that he heard footsteps above the cliff, Loodie had already sensed powerful werewolves moving overhead.
I turned to Ella, who stood frozen in place. Eson didn’t even need to tell her what to do. She already knew.
Suddenly, my body felt hot. My head spun, and my breathing grew heavy.
Eson turned to me sharply, horror filling his eyes.
"You’re in heat? You’re an omega?"
...
