Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Ian Kane Really Wants to Have a Test-Tube Baby

Vera felt inexplicably confused, "Who is he?"

As for drinking alone, she hated him too much to care.

Besides, even his own mother sitting next to him didn’t persuade him.

Ian thought she was playing dumb, fiercely biting the back of her neck, but in the moment of biting, he loosened his grip.

The man gritted his teeth, "Noah Grant."

This name was a thorn in his heart.

It was also the persistent shadow hanging over him.

In the darkness, Ian closed his eyes, and those past memories, like concentrated sulfuric acid, corroded his heart.

"Ian Kane, look at Noah Grant from The Grant Family, always first in the city! And then look at you, forever the second best! If you keep this up, how will you ever win your father’s favor?!"

"Ian Kane, I’m busy, I’ve arranged to play chess with Senior Grant, don’t bother me again."

Vera, "I didn’t, you’re overthinking it."

Is he having a bout of hysteria?

At the banquet, she barely paid attention to Noah Grant, only the ladies by her side kept praising him.

The grip around her waist grew tighter and tighter, Vera struggled, her body intentionally tense, "Let go of me first, I’m about to throw up."

A double entendre.

She overcame her fear, but his embrace felt so filthy.

A vivid memory flashed in her mind of him in the stairwell, gripping Serena Everett’s waist from behind, with that shameless demeanor.

Just like Nina Sullivan had said, "In private, wild as can be."

Ian listened to her words and suddenly recalled the corner of a skirt peeking from under Noah Grant’s suit pants, inexplicably pricking his heart, forcefully turned her face, "Vera, I want you."

His tone was overpoweringly assertive.

Vera was startled, pushing against his chest, "I, I’m scared."

But tonight, Ian seemed resolutely determined, ignoring her resistance, forcefully unbuttoning her blazer. Under the faint ceiling lights, her angular shoulder sparked a rush of blood in him.

The desire overflowed in the man’s eyes, his Adam’s apple quivered, and he leaned toward her sensual collarbone to bite it.

In desperation, Vera grabbed her chain purse from the banquet and smashed it against his forehead, the metal chain striking hard on his cold, wide forehead.

Ian winced in pain, letting out a muffled groan.

Vera reacted swiftly, tossing the bag aside, putting on a guilty expression, "S-sorry... honey... I..."

The burning pain on his forehead brought Ian back to sobriety, meeting her tear-filled eyes, he sighed inwardly.

He closed his eyes, released her, and sat beside her.

A red welt resembling a willow branch surfaced clearly on his forehead, where she had struck him.

Vera pretended not to see, "Sorry, did I hurt you?"

Ian kept his eyes closed, "It’s fine."

Having narrowly escaped danger once again, in the darkness, a slight curve appeared on Vera’s lips.

She looked lightly out the car window.

It had started raining outside without her noticing.

The raindrops on the glass blurred Ardendale’s night view, vibrant and dazzling, dreamlike, much like her marriage full of lies.

A sudden downpour split the raindrops, shattering the lights into scattered fragments.

Vera leaned back into her seat, closing her eyes.

Beside her, Ian pulled out his phone, making a call, "Arrange for me the IVF procedure tomorrow morning, with the top expert team."

Upon hearing, Vera was visibly shaken, opening her eyes and looking at him.

Ian ended the call, meeting her gaze, a smile on his lips, "I can’t wait either, to have a child of our own."

Eager to bind her tighter.

Vera was stunned.

Originally, she had only pretended to undergo IVF checks as a delay tactic to cancel the divorce, yet he took it seriously!

The smile on Ian’s lips grew deeper, his eyes glimmering with faint light, "Honey, would you like a boy or a girl?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw her paling face, looking seemingly reluctant.

The smile on his lips froze as well.
