Relentless Pursuit After Divorce-Chapter 1953: Summer Hall Side Story (155)
Evelyn Taylor was once again amused by Thomas Smith’s twisted logic.
"According to you, Olivia becomes my daughter, enjoys the good life of the Smith Family for thirty years instead of my own daughter, and she’s still a great benefactor to us?"
She crossed her arms in front of her, her gaze sharp and cold as she looked at Thomas Smith’s indifferent face and continued:
"The Smith Family did indeed swap the kids by mistake back then, which was our fault, but the Smith Family hasn’t treated her unfairly. Thomas, please understand, I don’t lack a daughter, and Olivia being my daughter isn’t that much of a favor to me. So, I solemnly tell you, Thomas, don’t talk to me about the bond of these thirty years."
Thomas Smith was never good at talking; the things he said were those he deemed reasonable, self-assured and irrefutable.
But now, Evelyn’s words left him unable to retort, his face flushed red.
"If you’re really going to argue with me about the bond of these thirty years, sorry, I’ve been raising someone else’s daughter for thirty years, while my own daughter was out there. Now that the mistake has been corrected, I can completely let Olivia repay every penny and effort I’ve spent on her over these thirty years."
"Thomas, stop acting shamelessly in front of me. Your mom isn’t an ignorant woman. If you really want to act shamelessly in front of me, especially for Olivia, I will absolutely make Olivia’s life even more difficult. I deliver what I promise."
Thomas’s face grew ever redder from Evelyn’s confrontation.
"If you’re dissatisfied or standing up for Olivia, that’s your freedom, I can’t control it. But if you do anything for Olivia that causes trouble for your own sister, you can roll out of the Smith Family with Olivia."
Thomas’s breath became rapid with anger.
"Mom, you’re simply unreasonable."
"Unreasonable?"
Evelyn raised her eyebrow and countered, "Thomas, if I’m really that unreasonable, the house you bought for Olivia, I can completely take it back. Your money was given by your brother, it’s the Smith Family’s money, please understand that."
Having finished speaking, Evelyn picked up the scissors and continued trimming the pot plant before her, not caring about Thomas’s reaction.
As if saying one more word to Thomas was a waste of time.
Thomas stared at Evelyn for a while before turning to leave.
Olivia had been waiting for news from Thomas’s side, firmly believing that as long as Thomas caused a fuss, Evelyn would accede to his demands to keep the peace.
She had even planned how to compete with Helen Melendy in style, but after waiting for two days, Evelyn decisively rejected his demands.
Olivia froze for a long time before recovering from the unstoppable anger, forcing a smile:
"Second brother, why are you so dumb? Why didn’t you listen to me and insist on making Madam Smith angry when you clearly promised me that day."
Standing before Olivia, Thomas was filled with guilt for not being able to secure a birthday celebration for her.
"Second brother, I really don’t care about having a birthday party or not; it’s enough to receive your blessings."
As she said this, she laughed self-mockingly while her eyes turned red, saying:
"This request is now a luxury, but fortunately, there’s still second brother remembering my birthday, I’m already very satisfied."
She held Thomas’s hands, tears in her eyes, yet with a forced smile, said:
"Second brother, I’m really very satisfied, you don’t need to feel guilty."
