Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 71 Dreams and Love
Xue Yang pulled Lin Xi into his arms. "I’m working hard now so that when you talk about me with your family in the future, they won’t find any reason to object."
Bread and love—neither could be forsaken.
Xue Yang was fond of Lin Xi and didn’t want her to face any difficulties in the future. He needed to take the initiative; only then could their relationship avoid unnecessary detours.
Lin Xi didn’t know how to argue with him, but... she just didn’t want to let him go. She wanted him to stay by her side forever.
She knew it was wrong to think and act this way, yet she still wanted to be willful just this once.
Xue Yang chuckled and gently stroked her head. "Be good and wait for me at home. I’ll come back right after the shoot. It won’t take too long."
Only then did Lin Xi reluctantly release him. "Then you’ve promised. You have to come back soon."
"Take good care of our Christmas trees. If you do a good job, I’ll have a reward for you when I get back. I have to go."
Hearing there was a reward, Lin Xi obediently nodded. "Okay."
After Xue Yang left, Lin Xi rested her arms on the desk. The two magic Christmas trees had fully blossomed. One was pure green, and the other was multicolored, both vastly different from any Christmas tree she had seen before.
But she felt that these two were the most beautiful Christmas trees she had ever laid eyes on.
Of the two trees, the green one was like Xue Yang, silently performing photosynthesis to provide her with nourishment. Her only responsibility was to be happy and beautiful.
If only the payment for my manuscript would arrive sooner, then I could buy something for Xue Yang.
Xue Yang usually gave her an allowance, but Lin Xi felt that a gift for him would only be truly meaningful if she bought it with money she had earned herself.
Lin Xi’s gaze shifted to the calendar on her desk. Today was December 23rd. Tomorrow, December 24th, was Christmas Eve, and the day after, December 25th, was Christmas Day. She counted the days, finally taking out a pen to circle December 31st. One circle wasn’t enough, so she drew several more.
That was the last day she would spend with Xue Yang, and it just so happened to be a Monday.
If only I had superpowers. Then I could change this calendar, and December 31st would never come.
But a dream was just a dream. She had to go home eventually. If she didn’t return soon, her family might find her, which would be bad for Xue Yang. She was determined to find a way to convince her family to let them be together.
Since she had to go home, Lin Xi decided to draw several more portraits of Xue Yang. That way, after she left, he could look at the drawings she left behind.
Before she began to draw, she was struck by a thought and started to fiddle with things in every corner of the room.
After leaving the apartment, Xue Yang walked to the bus stop for the line that went to the Trendy Apparel Company headquarters. He waited a short while for bus 202 to arrive. When it stopped in front of him, he boarded.
Two hours later, he arrived in the city center of Yancheng at Guofeng Building, where Trendy Apparel Company was located.
Rumor had it that the building was part of the Lin Corporation’s assets and one of Yancheng’s first skyscrapers. It had always been the center of the city and one of its iconic landmarks. For many visitors, it was a must-see destination.
Staff from Trendy Apparel Company had been waiting for Xue Yang at the reception desk. They immediately greeted him warmly upon his arrival. When the person in charge saw Xue Yang’s face clearly, he was momentarily stunned.
"Are you Mr. Xue Yang? You’re even more handsome in person than in your photos."
Xue Yang graciously shook the man’s hand. "Thank you for the compliment."
The person in charge at Trendy Apparel Company wasn’t what Xue Yang had imagined. He was an amiable man of about thirty with a rather delicate appearance. He wore round glasses, giving him a somewhat scholarly yet degenerate air. However, his perpetually extended pinky transformed this scholarly aura into something more effeminate.
Effeminate yet unaffected. It just goes to show that everyone has their own personality. Xue Yang didn’t necessarily approve, but he respected it.
He accepted compliments with grace, devoid of any arrogance. Humble and polite, he was the kind of person who was immediately likable.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Jennifer, and I’m the chief designer for all of Trendy Apparel Company. That’s right, the clothes you’re wearing are my design. I can hardly believe how perfect my designs look on you. You are the source of inspiration I’ve been looking for. Oh, Mr. Xue Yang, please don’t take offense. I’m just a little excited, I mean no harm."
Xue Yang smiled faintly. "Not at all. I’m honored by your praise, Mr. Jennifer."
"Come, let’s go inside and talk more."
As someone who wasn’t a professional model and lacked any significant backing, Xue Yang had been somewhat nervous before his arrival. After all, Trendy Apparel Company was a publicly listed, high-end light luxury brand with a stellar reputation. He was surprised to find it was much more down-to-earth than he had imagined.
Jennifer led Xue Yang to the design studio and clapped his hands, gathering all the staff who were engrossed in their work. "This is the model we’ve hired for next season, Mr. Xue Yang. Let’s give him a round of applause!"
Xue Yang didn’t know them, but they had all heard of him. His edited photos had won their unanimous approval. The photos he had posted in his online review had even caused that entire line of winter apparel to sell out.
They had originally assumed his photos were heavily edited, but seeing him in person, they realized the pictures hadn’t done him justice. He was much more handsome in person, with looks and charisma easily matching the popular celebrities they had originally considered.
And so, everyone welcomed Xue Yang with enthusiastic applause.
After a brief introduction, Jennifer, knowing Xue Yang had a long journey and needed to get back, didn’t delay and quickly arranged for the photoshoot to begin.
The assistant was a young woman, likely a recent college graduate, assigned to help with Xue Yang’s styling.
Xue Yang had a great base to work with. His complexion was smooth and radiant, with almost no blemishes, so she only needed to apply minor touch-ups. This saved her a lot of work. Coupled with his sunny, handsome appearance and his lack of a celebrity attitude, her impression of him grew even better.
"The clothes we’re shooting today are from next spring’s collection, which is much thinner than the winter line. Given the current weather, it might be a bit cold. Can you handle it?"
"I can."
"Great. We’ll change now and then start the shoot."
Trendy Apparel Company had a dedicated photoshoot base on the top floor of Guofeng Building. After changing, Xue Yang followed them up to the rooftop base to start with the outdoor scenes.
He hadn’t felt it so intensely before changing, but now, wearing the thin spring clothes, a bone-chilling cold set in that seemed to make his very soul shiver.
The difference between southern and northern winters comes down to heating. In the north, there’s heating indoors, so it never feels too cold. In the south, there is no heating, and indoors can feel even colder than being outside, though it’s just about bearable.
"Alright, Mr. Xue, please strike a pose. We’re getting ready to shoot."
