Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 48: What a Beautiful Blunder
Not long after Xue Yang arrived in the classroom, Cui Hao shambled in, looking utterly drained.
"Cui Hao, do you have any romantic movies you can recommend?" Xue Yang asked.
At the question, Cui Hao immediately perked up and leaned in with a suggestive smirk. "Why? Planning to watch one with your girlfriend?"
"Just tell me if you have any or not."
"I do, I do! I’ve got everything you could ever want. Several gigabytes worth, no joke. I’ll give them to you at the dorm during the lunch break."
"Thanks, bro."
"Oh, you should thank me. Once you’ve seen them, you’ll know I’m not exaggerating. Just... when you two are watching, remember to be safe."
"Be safe from what?" Xue Yang asked, completely baffled.
Just then, the class bell rang, and Master Miejue appeared at the door right on cue. They had reason to suspect Master Miejue possessed superpowers; otherwise, how could she always arrive with such perfect timing?
The first thing Master Miejue did upon entering was scan the room for Xue Yang and Cui Hao. Seeing them both sitting primly in their seats, she gave a slight nod of satisfaction and began taking attendance to start the class.
"Why do I get the feeling Master Miejue has her eye on us?" Cui Hao whispered. "She looks for us the second she walks in."
Xue Yang shot him a look, signaling him to shut up before he got them in trouble.
Cui Hao responded with a suggestive wink. Xue Yang found it so cringey he had to look away, choosing to ignore him and focus on the lecture.
After class, Master Miejue called Xue Yang and Cui Hao to stay behind.
"Here is some market data," she said, handing them a stack of papers. "Take it back and review it. Write me a report when you’re finished."
"Thank you, Teacher Gong. We’ll work hard and live up to your expectations."
"Very good," Gong Li said, then glanced at Cui Hao, her expression stern. "Cui Hao, you need to learn from Xue Yang."
Cui Hao answered meekly, "I understand. Thank you, Teacher Gong." He knew when to play the part.
Master Miejue didn’t linger and left shortly after.
Staring at the thick stack of documents, Cui Hao felt a headache coming on. "So much to read and research every single day. The Lin Corporation really is a massive enterprise. I wonder if we’ll go bald from stress if we work there. I love my charming hairline too much for that."
Xue Yang just smiled, packed the materials into his bag, and hurried home.
Watching Xue Yang’s retreating figure, Cui Hao wore a wounded expression. "That guy... ditches his bros for a girl!" he muttered resentfully. "Fine. I’ll just have to find a pretty girl to comfort me, too."

As soon as Lin Xi bought breakfast, she rushed back home. She was terrified the elderly couple next door would come out and give her that knowing, suggestive look again. It was just too embarrassing.
Sitting at her computer, Lin Xi opened the author dashboard and published the latest Chapter of her novel, "My Precious Boy." Before long, she received a contract offer.
Lin Xi downloaded the contract and sent it to Xue Yang, asking him to print it on his way back. Her thoughts drifted to the scene they had acted out the previous night.
This is so embarrassing. Does Xue Yang think I’m some kind of shallow girl?
Though she felt shy, Lin Xi had to admit that the feeling was wonderful. She had never felt so vibrant, so alive.
It would be great if things could always be like this.
However, she knew this kind of life was just a fleeting dream. Once *they* found her, she might never live so freely again.
Since the future is uncertain, I might as well live in the moment. First on the agenda: win over Xue Yang!

The moment Xue Yang got home, Lin Xi came running out of her room and threw her arms around him in a big bear hug.
"Xue Yang, Xue Yang, you’re back! I wrote out yesterday’s scene, and I even published the novel! Now we just have to wait for the contract."
Xue Yang caught the beautiful girl who had pounced on him. "Congratulations, my dear authoress! You’re one step closer to success!"
"You said you were going to ask your classmate for movies. Did you get them? I can’t wait to write the scene for my characters."
"Mhm." Xue Yang took a USB drive from his pocket and handed it to her. "I’ll go start dinner. Just like last night, after we eat, we can continue with tonight’s rehearsal."
"Okay."
As usual, Xue Yang started cooking while Lin Xi went back to her studies. After they finished eating, Lin Xi was about to do the dishes, but Xue Yang stopped her. "Your cold isn’t gone yet. You have special permission to skip the dishes for a few days. I’ve already plugged the USB into the computer. Go pick out a movie. There are several gigabytes of files on there, so you can find anything you want."
Lin Xi gave him a cheerful grin, ran back to her room, and drew the curtains. She arranged the lighting just like the night before. There were still plenty of snacks. Once everything was ready, she sat down at her desk.
She found the folder on the USB drive. Just as Xue Yang had said, the movies were neatly organized into categories. There were films from Europe, the Island Nation, and India, as well as plenty from Dragon Country. There was a dizzying array of genres, including martial arts films.
Which one should I watch?
A folder named "Exquisite Romance Films" caught her eye.
Let’s check this one out.
She clicked open a video file. Suddenly, a series of startling cries erupted from the computer: "AHHH—! NOOO—! STOP IT—!" Because Lin Xi had turned the volume nearly to max earlier to listen to music, the bizarre screams were deafening, leaving her frozen on the spot.
A jolt of shock went through her.
When she saw the tangle of pale, writhing bodies on the screen, Lin Xi’s mind went completely blank.
She was utterly mortified.
In the kitchen, Xue Yang heard the screams and nearly dropped the bowl he was washing. He dropped everything and bolted into her room.
"Xue Yang, what on earth is that?"
Moving on pure instinct, Xue Yang lunged for the laptop and slammed it shut.
The suggestive sounds stopped instantly, but they both remained frozen in shock. Lin Xi felt like her eyes had been seared. The only thing she could see in her mind was that fleshy, white-hot image, and it refused to go away.
Xue Yang cleared his throat, trying to sound calm. "That... well, some things are best left unknown to children. Let’s skip the movie tonight. We can work on a different scene. Or you can just write based on last night’s rehearsal. That’s fine too."
He cursed Cui Hao internally. I must have been insane to think that guy would have any normal romance movies.
"No, wait," Lin Xi said, leaning forward curiously. "I didn’t get a good look. The girl in it looked like she was in a lot of pain. Her voice sounded pained, too."
With a snap, Xue Yang forced the laptop completely closed, using his other hand to block Lin Xi’s curious reach. "Don’t look. Be good. Let’s just move on to the next scene."
Lin Xi’s eyes gleamed slyly. "The next scene in the script is a kiss. Are you sure you want to proceed?"
A fresh wave of shock hit Xue Yang.
So, a word of advice to all the boys out there: never casually agree to help a beautiful novelist act out her scenes. You never know what she has planned for you next.
