Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 355 - 353: Your Boyfriend is Like a Reincarnated Evil Ghost
ACHOO—
A certain poor son, still clueless about what his parents were scheming, let out a huge sneeze that caught Si Wen, who had been deep in thought, completely off guard.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Someone must be thinking of you the moment they woke up," Si Wen teased.
Xue Yang raised an eyebrow. Ten minutes had passed, and a certain someone still hadn’t replied to his text.
Could she have just woken up? It’s possible.
Just as he was pondering this, a video call from Lin Xi came through.
"See?" Si Wen said smugly. "A woman’s intuition is pretty accurate."
Xue Yang was noncommittal. "Hurry up and work. Don’t slack off."
Si Wen slumped. "Am I the boss or are you? What kind of employee tells their boss to get to work?"
Despite her words, Si Wen still earnestly began to review the document in front of her.
Xue Yang shifted his gaze back to his phone, pressed the answer button, and Lin Xi’s lovely face appeared on the screen.
"Xue Yang~"
Her sweet voice flowed through the phone. Xue Yang stretched, leaning back on the sofa with an extremely languid air.
"Awake?"
Lin Xi rubbed her eyes, her voice a bit groggy. "Yeah, just woke up."
The first thing she had done upon waking was reach for the phone on her bedside table, only to see the display showing "Call Duration 06:27:43." Seeing this, she smiled sweetly. She knew without a doubt what had happened: Xue Yang must have woken up, realized their video call was still running, and ended it.
She had been about to call him when a video call from Zhong Hailan came through first. After taking Zhong Hailan’s call, she received a text from Xue Yang and immediately video-called him.
"You go have breakfast first. Call me back after you’re done."
"Okay," Lin Xi replied obediently.
After ending the call, Xue Yang began to contemplate what he should have for lunch.
Hmm, what should I eat?
He had practically tried every fast-food place in the vicinity lately and was completely out of ideas.
"I’ve already called for a meal delivery. It should be on the way now and will arrive before twelve," Si Wen’s voice floated over from her desk.
Xue Yang had a flash of insight. He’d almost forgotten that with the big boss around, he didn’t need to worry about what to eat. All he had to do was wait.
Xue Yang was content to do nothing.
Having gone to bed so late last night, he was feeling sleepy now, so he simply lay down on the sofa and closed his eyes to rest. Before long, the soft sound of his even breathing began to fill the quiet office.
Si Wen looked up and saw that he had already fallen asleep.
Sleeping in front of the boss... Xue Yang must be the first person to ever do that. And he still had the gall to tell me to work.
She casually picked up the remote next to her, turned on the air conditioner, and set it to a comfortable temperature for sleeping. Then she continued to drowsily review documents, signing off on them as needed. In that one morning, she’d signed her name more times than on all the exams from her high school years combined.
At twelve o’clock sharp, the food arrived. Si Wen and Xue Yang prepared to go eat at the Old Tree Cafe on the 33rd floor.
When they walked out of the office one after the other, the employees outside immediately stood up from their desks.
"Carry on with your work," Si Wen said. She then pressed the elevator button, and the car arrived swiftly.
The two got in, Xue Yang pressed the button for the 33rd floor, and the elevator doors closed, hiding them from view.
"Ah, President Xue and the big boss are a perfect match," one of the employees, Xiang Qing, said proudly.
At that moment, Jennifer emerged from his office. "What are you all talking about?"
"We’re saying President Xue and his girlfriend are really well-matched," Bai Ling replied casually. Upon seeing that it was Jennifer, she immediately flinched, ducking her head and not daring to meet his eyes.
Hearing this, Jennifer raised an eyebrow. "President Xue’s girlfriend?"
Miss Lin is at the company?! That can’t be right. If Miss Lin came to the company, this group’s reaction should be... different.
Jennifer glanced around. The employees’ reactions did seem a bit lukewarm.
"The girlfriend you’re talking about... it couldn’t be the big boss, could it?" he asked. The big boss was certainly beautiful, but her looks weren’t as impactful as Miss Lin’s. Miss Lin’s beauty was stunning, no matter who saw her.
"Yes. They’ve been in the office all morning, and just now the two of them went up to the 33rd floor together. It looks like they’re heading to the Old Tree Cafe for lunch," Bai Ling said with a look of longing.
Jennifer’s mouth twitched fiercely. "I advise you not to casually ship them. Otherwise, the consequences will be very serious."
With that, he turned and walked away.
"What does Jennifer mean? Could it be that President Xue’s girlfriend isn’t the big boss?" Bai Ling scratched her head, feeling that couldn’t be right.
Maybe President Xue and the big boss aren’t ready to go public yet. Yes, that must be it. She knew a little about the big boss’s identity; it required secrecy, which was perfectly understandable.
Xue Yang and Si Wen arrived at the VIP room of the Old Tree Cafe, where a gourmet meal was already laid out, ready for them to eat as soon as they walked in.
Xue Yang hadn’t eaten a meal like this in a long time. His appetite was instantly whetted, and he sat down and began to dig in.
"The big boss hasn’t even started, and you’re already digging in. You’ve got some nerve."
Despite her words, Si Wen sat down across from Xue Yang, picked up her chopsticks, and started eating as well.
"It’s so strange. I used my brain just as much in school, but I never got this hungry. After just half a day of work, I feel completely hollowed out."
"Now you know making money isn’t easy, right?"
"Yeah. So, what do you think? Should we give them a raise?"
Xue Yang pressed a hand to his forehead, speechless. "I wanted you to experience how hard work is, not to disrupt the market. You can’t just raise salaries on a whim. If things are too easy, people get lazy."
"Oh," Si Wen said, seeming to only half-understand. "Hey, don’t eat so fast! I haven’t had enough yet."
She reached out with her chopsticks to grab some food, fearing that if she were any later, all the dishes would be finished by Xue Yang.
However, she was too late. Xue Yang had already eaten most of the food.
"Xue Yang, you’ve gone too far!"
Right then, a video call from Lin Xi came through.
"Xue Yang, are you eating?"
"Yeah, Si Wen is here too." Xue Yang turned his phone toward the furious Si Wen.
Si Wen snatched the phone and fumed, "Xiao Xi, let me tell you, your boyfriend is like a reincarnated hungry ghost! He ate all the food and didn’t leave any for me."
"Si Wen, didn’t you say you were on a diet?"
Si Wen puffed up her cheeks. "I’ve been working for half the day, and I’m starving!"
"Don’t be mad. Next time I’ll treat you to something even tastier."
"What about me?" Xue Yang’s face suddenly appeared in the video.
"To punish you for fighting with Si Wen for food, you’re not invited next time we go out for something good."
Si Wen laughed joyfully. "That’s more like it."
After hanging up, Lin Xi ran out of her room and down the stairs to the kitchen, where Auntie Shen was preparing dinner. Lin Xi had originally planned to go fishing in the family’s pond today, but now she had something more important to do.
"Auntie Shen."
"Miss Lin, were you not full?"
"I’m full."
"Then what are you doing in the kitchen?"
