Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 306 - 304: No Man Is Good, Especially Those Handsome and Capable Ones
Zhang Yao said, "Of course we can’t just let it slide."
Sun Yufei looked at her, puzzled. "Then what should we do?"
I haven’t even entered the workforce yet, so learning a little more will definitely benefit me. Besides, when she and Xue Yang had been cornered by Su Guoqiang, Zhang Yao’s mere appearance had made the man break out in a cold sweat. It was an incredibly badass moment.
Although Xue Yang had made the final call, if Zhang Yao hadn’t shown up, Su Guoqiang would never have believed Xue Yang’s claim of being the executive director of Trendy Apparel. Why? Because the claim itself was just too unbelievable. However, if Xue Yang had introduced himself as the executive director from the very beginning, the situation would have played out entirely differently. It was clear that Xue Yang still lacked real-world experience. He wasn’t like those transmigrated college students in web novels who are impossibly tactful and can plan out every single step in advance.
Still, the encounter wasn’t a total loss. After this incident, Xue Yang came to understand just how important one’s status could be.
Zhang Yao leaned in close to Sun Yufei, whispering mysteriously, "We might not have vented our anger right then and there, but we can always trip them up behind the scenes."
"How?"
"For example, find a chance to lure him to a hotel and then beat him up."
Hearing this, Sun Yufei’s eyes lit up. "Senior, that was my plan, too!"
I thought I was the only one who did things like that. Xue Yang had criticized her for it before, leaving her depressed for a long time. But now that Zhang Yao was saying the same thing, her mood brightened as if the clouds had parted to reveal a clear sky.
Zhang Yao’s interest was piqued. "Oh? You’ve done that before?"
Friendships between girls can be that simple sometimes. Much like how men might bond over a shared cigarette, all they needed was a common interest to become fast friends. And just like that, having found their topic, the two girls completely ignored their boss, Xue Yang, and began chattering about the times they had lured boys who bullied them into hotels for a good thrashing.
"Senior, aren’t you afraid they’ll come after you for revenge?"
"Well, that depends on the person, of course. With some people, you have to be subtle and handle things delicately. With others, a simple and crude method like this works best. They’re too concerned with their pride to ever tell anyone what happened."
Sun Yufei quickly chimed in, "Oh! I get it. It’s about tailoring your approach to the person!"
Zhang Yao gave her an appreciative look; the girl was teachable. Her impression of Sun Yufei improved even more.
Xue Yang had been listening intently to their conversation, but it was starting to veer far off course.
"Senior, do you have a boyfriend?" Sun Yufei asked. Xue Yang had told her that she was too fierce for any boy to like her. Since Zhang Yao had a similar personality, she was curious if she had a boyfriend. If she did, it would prove there was a market for fierce girls after all.
"No."
"Oh. Is it because you haven’t met anyone you like?" Hearing that Zhang Yao was single, Sun Yufei felt her last shred of hope crumble.
"Junior, let me tell you something about men: not a single one of them is any good."
"Huh? Why would you say that?" Xue Yang seems like a good person. He helped me so much today.
"You’ll understand once you enter the workforce."
"But I’m just a freshman! That’s another three or four years away. Please, Senior, just tell me now. It’ll help me decide if I should get a boyfriend in college," Sun Yufei pleaded, her eyes involuntarily flicking toward Xue Yang.
Being a woman herself, Zhang Yao naturally understood. One glance was all it took for her to realize that her junior had a crush on President Xue and was debating whether to pursue him. Was that acceptable? Of course not. President Xue is our big boss’s boyfriend. Now that she’s off at college, it’s our job as employees to keep an eye on him for her.
"Junior, I advise against it," Zhang Yao said seriously. "Especially guys who are handsome and have a bit of success. Never chase them."
"Why not, Senior?"
"Because guys like that are usually one of two things: either a total scumbag, or they already have a girlfriend."
Sun Yufei’s heart skipped a beat. She was in awe of her senior’s wisdom because Xue Yang was exactly the latter.
Xue Yang raised an eyebrow, sensing the hidden meaning in Zhang Yao’s words. However, it was getting to be dinnertime, and it would be ungentlemanly to send the two ladies home on an empty stomach. He cleared his throat, cutting off their discussion.
"Ahem. It’s getting late. Let’s go get something to eat."
At the mention of food, the two girls immediately dropped their conversation.
"Sure! I know a place nearby that’s cheap and delicious," Zhang Yao offered. Having been in Yanbei for three or four years, she knew all the best food spots. "The flavors are on the lighter side, though. I’m not sure if you two will be okay with that."
Like Xue Yang, Zhang Yao was from the south and preferred less heavily seasoned food.
"What a coincidence. I prefer lighter flavors, too," Xue Yang said.
Hearing this, Sun Yufei quickly added, "Me too, I’m fine with that!"
In the end, Zhang Yao led them to a small, hole-in-the-wall eatery tucked away in a remote spot near the university. Places like this relied almost entirely on word-of-mouth, passed down from one graduating class to the next. It would take ages for freshmen to discover them on their own.
There was an open table, and Zhang Yao guided them in with practiced ease. Once they were seated, she called out, "Ma’am, six seaweed rice rolls, please! With extra fillings!"
A moment later, a woman of about forty emerged from the back. She paused when she saw the trio. "I was wondering why you were ordering six all for yourself. Turns out you brought the whole family along." With that, she turned and went back into the kitchen to get to work.
After they finished their meal, while she was chatting with the owner, Zhang Yao quietly paid the bill.
By the time they stepped outside, the sky was completely dark. The street was gradually filling with students, growing livelier by the minute. They bustled about in groups of three or five, or as couples holding hands, some savoring street food, others browsing for clothes, all of them talking about their dreams.
When Lin Xi gets to college, I’ll bring her here and we’ll experience all of this together.
After about a ten-minute walk, they arrived at Xue Yang’s Audi.
"Senior, did you drive today?" Sun Yufei asked.
Having been in the workforce for many years, Zhang Yao already had her own car.
"Oh, no. I took a company car out today, but when you called, I figured it wasn’t official business, so I sent the driver back."
"Alright, after I drop off Classmate Sun, I’ll give you a ride home," Xue Yang offered.
"Then I’ll have to trouble you for a ride, President Xue."
After dropping Sun Yufei off at her university, Xue Yang drove Zhang Yao home.
