Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 248 - 246: Time Flies So Fast
When Xue Yang walked in, he saw Lin Xi helping Si Wen with some difficult problems. Both were so focused that neither noticed him enter. Xue Yang didn’t disturb them and went straight to his workstation to continue reviewing the company’s fundamental processes.
Now, he was just waiting to see who would be the first to send him the requested information.
Si Wen looked up and saw that Xue Yang had returned. "Hey, Xue Yang, you’re back? How did the meeting go?"
She was curious whether Xue Yang could hold his own against those slick old-timers.
Seeing Xue Yang return, Lin Xi’s eyes brightened. Hearing Si Wen’s question, she was also curious about how the meeting had gone.
Was he bullied mercilessly? Since I can never get the better of him, he should get a taste of what it feels like to be bullied. The image of Xue Yang being ganged up on popped into Si Wen’s mind, and she had to suppress a laugh.
"Well, everything went smoothly, except I had a spat with the sales department manager," Xue Yang said. "It wasn’t really a spat, just a debate."
Si Wen immediately perked up. "What did you two argue about?"
Si Wen had some idea of how overbearing the sales department manager, Wu Meiju, could be. The manager usually knew how to conduct herself in front of Si Wen, so Si Wen tended to turn a blind eye. She was even more curious about who had won the battle.
"She wants to expand the market overseas, and I disagree, so we debated it," Xue Yang said nonchalantly.
Si Wen expressed her surprise. "Rushing abroad when the domestic market isn’t even fully developed yet?"
"I’m surprised we’re on the same page. It just makes me wonder, how did you manage the company into this state?"
Logically speaking, if Si Wen had such an idea, it meant she wasn’t completely clueless.
After thinking for a moment, Si Wen replied naively, "I don’t know. I think I’m doing a pretty good job managing it. We’re making money every month, and more and more people are getting to know our clothing line. You’re the only one who thinks it’s not good enough."
Alright, I shouldn’t have asked her that question.
"If Manager Wu wanted to leave the company, what would you think?"
"It’s up to you. I already said I was handing the company over to you, so I trust you completely."
When dealing with people she didn’t know well, she had always taken a hands-off approach, and that was even more true with Xue Yang. Anyway, I trust Xue Yang won’t mess things up.
"With those words from you, I can rest assured."
Frankly, Wu Meiju’s position in the company was like a major artery. Removing her would certainly have an impact. However, Xue Yang wouldn’t make a move against her proactively. If she continued to insist on her own views, though, that would be another story. So, Xue Yang first needed to understand what Si Wen was thinking before taking the next step.
Just then, a knock came from the door.
Si Wen quickly sat back down to work on her worksheets, relinquishing all authority to Xue Yang. He shook his head resignedly and said, "Come in."
Yang Yunfeng pushed the door open and walked in, holding a stack of documents. When he saw Si Wen sitting inside and concentrating on her worksheets, he was taken aback for a moment before greeting her, "Boss."
Lin Xi was hidden from his view by Si Wen, so he didn’t see her.
Yang Yunfeng walked up to Xue Yang and placed the documents in front of him. "President Xue, here are the company’s personnel files for you to review."
"Thank you for your hard work."
"It’s all part of my job. I’ll leave you to it, then."
"Alright."
Yang Yunfeng hesitated for a moment before leaving.
A little while later, Manager Zhang Yao from the purchasing department also arrived, handing Xue Yang the company’s procurement reports. Similarly, she was taken aback upon seeing Si Wen earnestly working on her worksheets. After handing the reports to Xue Yang, she left.
"Not bad, Si Wen," Xue Yang said. "You assigned work at the first meeting, and they’ve already submitted it."
However, Xue Yang simply placed the documents aside without looking at them.
"Why aren’t you looking at them?" Si Wen asked curiously.
"I mainly wanted to see how well they execute tasks."
"So does that mean these two have the best execution ability?"
"Not necessarily."
Si Wen was confused again. "Then what is it?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"The company’s personnel files were already compiled, so his was the fastest to submit. As for the procurement data, Manager Zhang gave it to me so quickly because she had already prepared it in advance."
"So that means they don’t slack off during their regular work?"
"Not necessarily." Xue Yang picked up the procurement report. "The data in this report is what they *want* me to see."
Si Wen seemed to understand, yet at the same time, she didn’t. "Forget it, I’ll just do more of my worksheets."
Xue Yang didn’t say anything more.
He had just taken over Trendy Apparel, and there was much he needed to figure out slowly. In truth, what he had just said was based on the smattering of knowledge he’d picked up from Jennifer.
I’ll have to take things one step at a time.
The rest of the afternoon was much like the morning. Xue Yang handled work while Si Wen did her worksheets, with Lin Xi sitting beside her and occasionally helping with a problem.
Dinner was again ordered and delivered by Si Wen. After eating, the three of them buried themselves in their work once more.
Before they knew it, it was ten o’clock.
Having spent the whole day solving problems for Si Wen, Lin Xi was done. She clung to Xue Yang’s arm, unwilling to let go, as if to ask, It’s so late, why aren’t we leaving yet?
Xue Yang looked down at the girl clinging to him and gently stroked her soft hair.
"I get it, I get it! It’s my fault for delaying your date a little today," Si Wen said, feeling a bit guilty. "I’ll get lost and go home to my worksheets right now. You two hurry up and go on your date."
It seemed she really had taken up a lot of Xue Yang’s time today.
Lin Xi pouted. "It’s past ten. What kind of date can we have now?"
"You can have a date at home, too. I’m leaving now, see you tomorrow." With that, Si Wen quickly packed her things and fled.
Xue Yang also packed the materials he had collected into his briefcase. It was originally meant to hold Si Wen’s New Year’s gift, but now it had found its true purpose. Holding a briefcase, Xue Yang had a certain flair, as if he had matured in an instant.
After getting out of the car near Yonghui Supermarket, Xue Yang and Lin Xi walked hand in hand toward home. Uncle He’s car followed at a discreet distance.
It hadn’t snowed today. With spring approaching, the snow on the ground was melting quickly. The road was a bit slippery, so they held each other’s hands tightly to keep from falling.
Neither of them spoke much.
According to school rules, Lin Xi was supposed to return to campus tonight. But at any school, there were always a few students for whom the teachers were willing to turn a blind eye. Like the top-ranked student, Lin Xi. Or the second-ranked student, Si Wen.
What was normally a ten-minute walk took them a full hour before they reached the ground floor of their apartment building.
Arriving at the entrance, Lin Xi suddenly stopped. "Xue Yang, why don’t we walk it again?"
Xue Yang gently flicked her forehead. "It’s very late. Go upstairs and get some sleep."
Lin Xi rubbed her forehead. "Oh," she said, reluctantly heading upstairs.
Why does time fly so fast?
