Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 241 - 239 Si Wen Asks Xue Yang for Help
"Miss Lin, you’re here too."
Oh no. I haven’t interrupted their date, have I? Miss Lin must be wanting to kill me right now.
Lin Xi nodded slightly. "Hello."
When she and Xue Yang were facing their toughest times, it was Jennifer who had helped Xue Yang immensely, which, by extension, meant he had helped her too. For that, Lin Xi was quite grateful to him.
"Jennifer, what’s wrong?" Xue Yang asked.
A flicker of guilt crossed Jennifer’s eyes. "I recently designed a new outfit and wanted you to come try it on."
"Is this the ’extremely urgent matter’ you mentioned?"
Xue Yang didn’t believe it. The spring collection had been finalized before the New Year and was already on sale. Although Xue Yang didn’t know the exact sales figures, he knew from Yang Xiaozhi and others familiar with Trendy Apparel Company that the numbers couldn’t be low. A company like that would never leave things until after the New Year holiday. By then, it would be too late.
Jennifer touched the bridge of his nose. "Of course, there’s more to it."
But... how should I put it? If I say it out loud, will Miss Lin kill me on the spot? He touched his own neck nervously. Will I even live to see the Lantern Festival?
"Xiao Xi, let’s go," Xue Yang said, taking Lin Xi’s hand and turning to leave. Jennifer was never this nonsensical before. Did the New Year somehow change his personality? Still, he’s helped me so many times. I’ll let it slide this once.
Seeing that they were about to leave, Jennifer quickly shouted toward the building’s entrance, "Boss, I’ve brought him over for you! The rest is up to you!"
With that, Jennifer fled the potentially disastrous scene, using the fastest speed he had ever mustered in his life.
I should have known. Xue Yang is Miss Lin’s boyfriend. On his first day back in Yancheng, who else would he be meeting besides his girlfriend? Luckily, Miss Lin has a good temper and didn’t explode on the spot. Otherwise, I would’ve been in for a world of hurt. But I definitely can’t stay here any longer. As for my post-holiday bonus, the boss can deal with it.
Boss?
Xue Yang’s footsteps came to an abrupt halt. Could it be the big boss of Trendy Apparel Company?
His gaze shifted to the Trendy Apparel Company building as a slender shadow slowly emerged from within. As the shadow grew shorter, a familiar figure appeared before him.
Xue Yang’s eyes widened. Si Wen? Is there some kind of mistake? Or... does her family actually own Trendy Apparel Company?
Si Wen wore a pair of black princess shoes with black fleece-lined pants. Over them, she had on a red cape dress trimmed with white fur. Her hair was tied up in a high bun, adorned with a black bow. Paired with her doll-like face, she looked both playful and adorable.
She walked over to Lin Xi and smiled slightly. "I’m the big boss of Trendy Apparel Company. Surprised?"
Si Wen’s outfit was certainly eye-catching, but standing next to Lin Xi, she seemed just a bit outshone. One in black and one in red, they exuded youthful vigor in the serene, snowy night. Every passerby couldn’t help but steal a glance. Are these elves who have descended to the mortal realm to experience life?
"I’m truly surprised," Xue Yang admitted. "I’ve always wanted to thank you in person, but you never gave me the chance. I never expected my benefactor was right beside me all along."
Xue Yang had never dreamed that the head of Trendy Apparel Company was Si Wen. His shock was on par with learning that Lin Xi was the heiress of the Lin Corporation.
"It’s not too late to thank me now," Si Wen said.
"Si Wen, thank you," Xue Yang said with heartfelt sincerity. The irritation he felt from being tricked by Jennifer completely vanished.
Si Wen placed her hands behind her back and said playfully, "Don’t mention it. You’re my best friend’s boyfriend, after all. Of course, I’m going to help her boyfriend."
"Did you know it was me from the start?"
"No, I don’t have time to worry about who they hire for temporary work. I only found out when I was checking our company’s online store and saw the buyer photos you posted in the reviews. Later, Jennifer strongly recommended you to be our company’s spokesperson. I ran a quick background check on you, but the final decision to make you the spokesperson wasn’t mine—it was Jennifer’s."
Si Wen explained all this to make it clear to Xue Yang that becoming the spokesperson for Trendy Apparel Company wasn’t due to connections, but entirely because of his own merit.
"Did you go to all this trouble to get me here tonight just to tell me you’re the big boss?" Xue Yang had a hunch it wasn’t that simple. If Si Wen just wanted to show off, she could have revealed herself when I first asked to borrow money. But she didn’t. Instead, she lent me the money in secret.
"Of course not. I need to prepare for my college entrance exams over the next few months, right?"
"Yes, the timing lines up."
"During this period, I definitely won’t have time for Trendy Apparel Company. So, I want to ask you to help me manage it."
Xue Yang was stunned for a moment. Did I hear that right? Si Wen is asking me to help manage Trendy Apparel Company! But why?
"Miss Si, for someone so young to have built such a large company, I refuse to believe you can’t find a single trustworthy person to help you look after it. Jennifer is great. He’s a very trustworthy person." Jennifer tricked me into coming here, so it’s only fair if I dig a pit for him in return, right?
"Jennifer is decent at design, but asking him to handle management would be like killing him. He wouldn’t have even agreed to trick you into coming here if he weren’t so desperate to avoid it. As for the others, I don’t trust them. I started this company without my family’s knowledge, so right now, you’re the only one who can help me."
Somehow, I don’t buy that at all, Xue Yang thought.
"When you wanted to start your studio and were short on cash, I lent you the money without a moment’s hesitation. Now that I need your help, what reason do you have to refuse?"
"Are you sure it was you who lent me the six million?" Xue Yang found it odd now. He had only asked to borrow one million, so why did the loan end up being for six million?
"Alright, one million of it was from me. The other five million..." Si Wen glanced toward Lin Xi, her meaning obvious. The five million was from her.
Lin Xi quickly explained, "I wasn’t ready to tell you about my identity back then. When I heard you urgently needed money, I took the opportunity to lend it to you under the name of Trendy Apparel Company. You don’t have to pay it back."
"It’s your money. Since it was a loan, I will definitely pay it back."
The light in Lin Xi’s eyes dimmed slightly. Do we really have to be so clear-cut about everything?
"It’s freezing out here. Let’s go inside to talk," Si Wen interjected.
"Xiao Xi and I haven’t even eaten yet, thanks to you tricking us into coming here," Xue Yang said. "Shouldn’t you be treating us to dinner?"
