Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 214 - 212 Class Reunion
February 11th, the second day of the Lunar New Year.
Xue Yang’s old high school classmate, Sun Haoran, came to his house looking for him. Back in high school, they had been deskmates. However, since Xue Yang had always been focused on his studies, he didn’t know Sun Haoran very well and only remembered him vaguely. He was about 170 cm tall and wasn’t heavy, but the few pimples on his cheeks made him seem somewhat shy.
"Xue Yang, we’re planning a class reunion on Valentine’s Day. Why haven’t you said anything?"
Xue Yang was slightly stunned. "Really?"
In my memory, it seems no one has ever mentioned this to me. Or could my memory have deteriorated to this extent?
"Yes, we’ve been discussing it daily in the class group. You haven’t looked at it even once?"
After thinking for a moment, Xue Yang asked, "Do we have a class group?"
How could I not know about this? I don’t seem to recall one at all.
After thinking a bit more, Xue Yang remembered that there indeed was such a group. He had found it too noisy, so he had muted it and only checked it occasionally.
"..."
Sun Haoran was left speechless. "Of course we have a class group, and you’re in it! Don’t tell me you’ve never looked at the group messages?"
In the class group, Xue Yang wasn’t the only one who had gotten into Yanbei University. A few others had as well, and they talked about it nonstop, as if they were afraid people would forget. Every other word was about how great Yancheng was, as if one trip there had turned them into metropolitan elites who looked down on those who hadn’t gotten into Yanbei University. Their messages were filled with constant disparagement of Hui City.
Sun Haoran just couldn’t understand it. No matter what Hui City was like now or how it compared to Yancheng, hadn’t they all come from here?
On several occasions, Sun Haoran had tagged Xue Yang, hoping he would stand up and put them in their place to deflate their arrogance. However, Xue Yang seemed to have vanished, remaining silent no matter how many times Sun Haoran tagged him. This time, with everyone agreeing to meet for Valentine’s Day, he couldn’t stand it anymore and had come to find him at his home.
"..."
"Xue Yang, surely not? Are you planning to cut ties with all of us just because you got into Yanbei University? That’s going too far."
"That’s not it at all. I’ve just been so busy lately that I haven’t noticed the group messages."
"I don’t care. You have to come to this reunion no matter what. Otherwise, it means you don’t consider us classmates."
"I genuinely don’t have time for the reunion. You all go have fun and eat and drink well. Don’t worry about me."
I truly dislike these kinds of class reunions. I sometimes check the QQ group, but it’s always the same few people endlessly bragging to each other. It’s all so awkward; what’s there to even read? It’s obvious the reunion will just be dominated by those same people. I’d rather stay home and play video games in peace than go listen to them drone on.
"Xue Yang, you aren’t avoiding us because you’re embarrassed about what happened with Senior Sister Chen, are you?"
"?????"
"We all know you got into Yanbei University just for Senior Sister Chen. Even though she didn’t accept your confession, you still got into a school everyone dreams of, right? It’s a blessing in disguise."
"?????"
Looks like I’ll have to go and set them straight about this.
Xue Yang picked up the teapot and refilled Sun Haoran’s cup. "Didn’t Tang Haotian tell you that Chen Ying and I have had nothing to do with each other for a long time?"
"Ah?" Sun Haoran looked at Xue Yang in surprise. "He said you professed your love by setting up a huge heart below her dorm, only to be ruthlessly rejected by her."
"That’s ancient history. I haven’t bothered her at all since the day she rejected me."
"Really? But I heard from Tang Haotian and the others that you haven’t given up and are still finding new ways to confess to Senior Sister Chen every day. The whole school knows about your grand deeds. Are you saying that’s all fake?"
"You’ll all find out whether it’s fake or not then. It’s a Valentine’s Day reunion, right? Where is it?"
"It’s at the Jinhao Hotel, four in the afternoon. Tang Haotian is footing the bill. He booked the best private room and the finest banquet. People who get into top national universities really are different, always so generous."
Tang Haotian was one of the wealthiest kids in their class. His admission to Yanbei University was inseparable from the extensive tutoring he’d received since childhood. If his family had been even slightly less affluent and unable to afford the exorbitant tutoring fees, he never would have gotten in. Just getting into a top-tier national university was already an incredible achievement.
"Got it. I’ll be there on time."
"Then it’s settled! I’m heading back now. I still have to go with my mom to visit my grandmother’s family today."
After saying that, Sun Haoran ran off.
Xue Yang also had relatives to visit, quite a few in fact. So, for the next few days, he was even busier. Sometimes, it took him hours just to reply to a single message from Lin Xi.
* * *
Lin Xi sat on the swing, swaying idly back and forth.
"Si Wen, do we really have to wait until Valentine’s Day?"
I really want to go see Xue Yang right now. It’s been six days since I last saw him. And video calls don’t count. I can’t hug him or kiss him through a screen.
"??????"
Si Wen was holding her phone, having just scored a pentakill.
"I’m so bored," Lin Xi sighed.
Si Wen’s game ended, and she exited the app. "You’re not bored, you’re just missing him too much."
Si Wen could hardly imagine how Lin Xi was going to manage to calm down and study hard enough to get into Yanbei University in the months after the New Year, especially after leaving school.
Lin Xi gave up the pretense. "I really do miss him so much."
"No matter how much you miss him, you have to wait. You need your own life and your own social circle. If your world revolves only around Xue Yang, he’ll get exhausted. And you will too."
"Is that so?"
"Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"
"You have."
"When?"
"At the beginning, you were always trying to trick me into leaving Xue Yang," Lin Xi said indignantly.
"..."
She actually remembered that.
"Am I wrong?" Lin Xi pressed.
"You’re right, you’re right," Si Wen conceded. "But we still have to wait until Valentine’s Day to go see him."
"Why?"
"Because we can give him a surprise that day. Don’t you want to surprise him?"
"I do!"
"Well, there you go. Just wait patiently. There are only two days left. Come on, let’s go shopping today."
"I don’t want to."
"To buy a gift for Xue Yang. You’re not planning on showing up empty-handed, are you?"
Hearing this, Lin Xi jumped off the swing. "Then let’s go, quickly!"
With that, she strode out ahead.
"Wait for me!" Si Wen shouted, hurrying to catch up.
This girl... The moment I mention buying a gift for Xue Yang, she runs faster than anyone.
