Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 154 - 153: Xue Yang’s Normal Transition between Nobility and Commonality
The moment they heard this, the others pulled out their phones and opened the Yanbei University Campus Network. Unlike the previous photo of Xue Yang getting off the bus facing the university, this one showed him standing before Yanbei Gate. He looked like a prince from some foreign land visiting Yanbei for an official inspection.
His aura was simply overwhelming. A palpable air of nobility radiated from him, even through the screen.
"Oh my God, is that really Xue Yang?"
"He’s the prince charming from my dreams! I can’t take it, I have to go see him right now, or I won’t get anything done all day."
"I’m going too, I’m going too."
Many people spontaneously gathered in the corridor near the finance classroom, as Xue Yang almost always passed by there every morning.
Cui Hao dragged Xue Yang back to their dorm and rummaged through his belongings, pulling out the one piece of clothing he hated the most—a military overcoat.
He had carelessly stuffed it away, so it was a wrinkled mess.
He had bought it as a backup after getting into Yanbei University, figuring the northern winters would be freezing. But when he put it on, not only did he look short, unattractive, and poor, but it also looked like a child wearing an adult’s clothes.
It was absolutely ridiculous.
He had planned to throw it away, but after seeing Xue Yang in that Xiang Naier outfit today, he had decided to dig it out again.
When Xue Yang saw him produce the military overcoat, he furrowed his brow slightly. "Are you sure you want me to wear this?"
"Positive! If you don’t wear this today, our friendship is over."
His tone was so severe that Xue Yang paused. He then slipped off his Xiang Naier jacket, took the military overcoat from Cui Hao’s hands, and put it on.
Cui Hao watched him, originally hoping to see Xue Yang make a fool of himself. However, the moment the coat was on, he was utterly stunned.
"Why is it that when I wear this, I look short, unattractive, and poor, but when you wear it, you look like a military officer from the Republic of China era? Take it off! I don’t want you to wear it anymore."
As he spoke, Cui Hao reached out to pull the military overcoat off Xue Yang. He felt like a complete buffoon. It seemed that no matter what he did, he was always the one who ended up looking foolish.
Cui Hao’s pride took a massive hit.
Xue Yang glanced at the time. "Class is about to start. If we don’t go now, we’ll be late. This is the last class of the semester; you don’t want to be singled out by Master Miejue, do you?"
With that, he pulled Cui Hao out the door, giving him no chance to react.
Everyone had originally wanted to see Xue Yang in his Xiang Naier attire, but instead, they saw him approaching in a military overcoat.
At that moment, they felt as if they were witnessing the triumphant return of a great general from the Republic of China era.
For a moment, everyone was stunned speechless.
And so, Xue Yang walked toward the classroom amidst the crowd’s stunned silence. It almost felt like they were lining the path to welcome him.
In that instant, Xue Yang was the protagonist in everyone’s heart. A scene that many TV dramas struggled to capture was now unfolding in real life.
Only after he had passed did the crowd begin to buzz with discussion.
"I never would have thought Xue Yang could look so good in designer brands and just as good in a military overcoat. Is this the legendary ’clothes horse’ they talk about?"
"I can’t afford Xiang Naier, but there’s no way I can’t afford a military overcoat, right? Don’t anyone stop me, I’m buying one just like Xue Yang’s!"
"I actually have a military overcoat, but nobody at school wears one, so I feel a bit weird wearing it by myself. I don’t have to worry now! I’m going to get my military overcoat right away."
"Get what? Class is starting!"
"What class? The break has already started."
"Oh, right. The winter break started today."
Most students at Yanbei University had already started their vacation. Only a few departments remained, and they too would be off after today’s classes.
For a time, the entire campus was in a frenzy.
Because of this incident, a new trend of wearing military overcoats swept through Yanbei University. People in military overcoats could be seen everywhere.
Some even walked in groups. For a moment, it felt as if all of Yanbei had been transported back to the Republic of China era.
When Teacher Gong Li walked into the classroom, she almost thought she was in the wrong room. In a rare move, she returned to the doorway to double-check that this was, in fact, the finance classroom before entering again.
Since it was the last day of the semester, everyone had started to let loose. When Teacher Gong Li entered, a wave of boisterous greetings erupted.
"Good morning, Teacher!"
"Teacher, you look so beautiful today!"
"Teacher, how do our military overcoats look?"
A flicker of emotion crossed Gong Li’s usually stern face.
"Everyone quiet down. Class is now in session."
Disappointed at not receiving Master Miejue’s praise, the students nevertheless listened attentively. Her lectures were a finite resource. Each one you attended was one less you would ever have, and after graduation, hearing her speak again would come at an entirely different price.
Besides, even if you had the money, there was no guarantee you could book her time. They had heard this from seniors who had already graduated.
The final class of the semester flew by. It felt like no time had passed at all before it was over.
"Today is the last class of the semester, so I won’t say much. You all come from far and wide, so please be safe on your journey home."
"Oh, and by the way, the military overcoats you’re all wearing today look really good."
With that, Gong Li walked out of the classroom. A moment of silence passed before a deafening roar of cheers erupted behind her.
"WHOA!"
"LONG LIVE TEACHER GONG!"
Inside the library, Wu Xiaoya was checking the price of military overcoats on Taobao.
Sure enough, compared to down jackets, the price of a military overcoat was incredibly student-friendly. They were perfect for students like them.
"Ying Ying, I’m going to buy a military overcoat online. Want to get one together?"
"I think I’ll pass."
"But I think you’d look amazing in a military overcoat! You’d totally blow everyone at school away. Let’s buy them together! We get a 20% discount for buying two. Anyway, we’re not going home just yet, so I’m placing the order now, okay?"
Chen Ying wanted to refuse, but Wu Xiaoya had already placed the order.
"Alright, let’s buy it then."
She lowered her head slightly, pretending to read, but her mind had already drifted far away.
I could have booked a train ticket home today, but I decided against it. Maybe it’s because there’s still some lingering hope in my heart.
After class in the afternoon, Xue Yang and Cui Hao walked toward the office.
"I’m not walking this close to you," Cui Hao said, quickening his pace toward the office as if something was chasing him. "It makes me look like your subordinate. I can’t even pass for an adjutant; I’m just a nobody."
When he arrived at the office, his heart sank.
"Kexin, why are you following the trend and wearing a military overcoat too?"
"Because it’s warm."
"Then why didn’t you wear it before?"
"Because no one wore one before, and I was too embarrassed. Now that other people are, I figured I could wear mine too."
Depressed, Cui Hao slumped into his seat and fell silent.
Just then, Xue Yang walked in from outside.
"What’s wrong with him?" Yu Kexin asked Xue Yang.
Xue Yang glanced at the military overcoat she was wearing and said, "The one I have on is his."
Yu Kexin blinked. A moment later, she understood.
"So... everyone started wearing them because you wore *his* military overcoat."
Xue Yang raised an eyebrow, offering neither confirmation nor denial.
Yu Kexin walked over to Cui Hao and patted his shoulder gently. "My condolences."
Cui Hao buried his face in his arms on the desk, not wanting to see anyone ever again.
