Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 124 - 123 Xue Yang’s Girlfriend Looks Familiar
Xue Yang stood at the entrance for a long time without opening the door. Cui Hao was at his wit’s end.
"What are you doing standing at the door? Go in!"
He reached for the door with his free hand, but Xue Yang was a step ahead. In one fluid motion, Xue Yang relocked the door and pocketed the key, giving Cui Hao no chance to react.
"We’re not going in."
Cui Hao was utterly baffled.
"Let’s go back to the dorm."
"Xue Yang, are you fucking kidding me? I hauled you all the way back here, and now you’re telling me we’re not going in? I swear, I’ll drop you right here on the doorstep!"
Xue Yang leaned slightly against Cui Hao. "She doesn’t like meeting strangers."
He was half a head taller than Cui Hao, making it incredibly difficult for Cui Hao to support him.
"Take a good look! Do I look like a stranger?"
"To her, you are a stranger."
Cui Hao was speechless.
"Cui Hao, let’s just go back to the dorm!" Xue Yang pleaded.
"Fine, fine, fine! You’re the damn boss. Whatever you say goes."
Cui Hao silently pressed a hand to his forehead. Arguing with a drunkard was like talking to a brick wall. He had no choice but to begrudgingly hoist Xue Yang up and head downstairs to hail another cab.
The two of them stumbled downstairs. When they reached a utility pole, Xue Yang stopped again, refusing to move.
Pointing at a spot by the road, he said with a smile, "This is where we took our first photo together. I believe you’ve seen the picture."
Wait, what? Cui Hao felt as if he had just stumbled upon some incredible news.
"You mean the girl from the photoshoot for that clothing brand... she’s your girlfriend?"
Supporting Xue Yang made it difficult to get his phone out; otherwise, Cui Hao definitely would have pulled it out to compare the picture. He’d thought she was just one of the clothing company’s models! At the time, he had wondered how he’d never noticed such a beautiful girl before. That was why he had planned on tagging along when Xue Yang had his next photoshoot during the holiday, hoping for a chance to meet her. But it turned out she was Xue Yang’s girlfriend! No wonder this guy gave up on pursuing Chen Ying, the campus belle. He already had a better option.
Cui Hao couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy.
"Man, you have all the luck. You get to know all the pretty girls."
Xue Yang pointed to another spot. "Look, over there. She and I built a lot of snowmen right there. They were like our children."
"Dude, you’re not even close to getting married and you’re already thinking about kids? You’re unbelievable. Come on, ’Dad,’ let’s go. It’s almost midnight, it’s getting late."
All Cui Hao wanted was to get the drunkard back to the dorm as quickly as possible. He was exhausted from all the trouble.
Once they were finally in a cab, Cui Hao at last had a chance to take out his phone and get a good look at Xue Yang’s girlfriend. The angle of the photo was tricky; he could only see a pair of beautiful, large eyes and imagine that she must be a great beauty. The rest was unclear.
Why does this girl look so familiar? I feel like I’ve seen her somewhere before.
Cui Hao swiped through the photos for a while but found no other useful information. He then searched online but still came up empty. He wanted to ask Xue Yang, but the guy was sleeping soundly. Xue Yang hadn’t slept well the previous night, and now that he was finally asleep, Cui Hao didn’t have the heart to wake him.
Cui Hao wanted to sleep, but the question kept nagging him. He scratched his head in frustration, turning his hair into a bird’s nest.
"Xue Yang, you’re buying me a huge meal for this, no excuses!"
「The next morning at 6:00 a.m.」
Xue Yang woke up on time. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The moment he opened his eyes, he was met by a pair of resentful ones.
"Xue Yang, do you remember what you did last night?" Cui Hao, who hadn’t slept a wink, stared at him with dark circles under his eyes.
Xue Yang frowned, trying to recall. He only remembered having a shot of hard liquor before leaving the dinner party; after that, everything was a blank.
"I knew you wouldn’t remember a thing. You took me to your rented apartment."
Hearing this, Xue Yang looked up in surprise. "I took you there?"
"Don’t look at me like you just got caught cheating on your girlfriend. Relax. When we got to your front door, you refused to go inside no matter what. So I had to haul you all the way back here."
Xue Yang breathed a sigh of relief, thankful he hadn’t brought Cui Hao inside. Lin Xi was scared of meeting strangers and would bundle herself up completely every time she went out. He remembered it very clearly: one time, Cui Hao had shown up at their door out of curiosity, and they had moved out that very night. If he really had brought Cui Hao home, she would have definitely been furious.
What Xue Yang didn’t know was that Lin Xi wasn’t afraid of strangers at all; she was terrified of being recognized and forced to go home.
"Xue Yang, do you have a clear, front-facing photo of your girlfriend?" Cui Hao asked, finally voicing the question that had plagued him all night.
"What for?"
"Come on, just let me see it."
"You’ll have a chance to see her in the future."
"Don’t be so stingy. I just want one look."
"Why are you so obsessed with seeing what my girlfriend looks like? Don’t you have your own? Oh, right. I forgot, you don’t."
Cui Hao choked with indignation. "Who says I don’t have a girlfriend? You just wait! I’m going to find you a stepmom so fast she’ll beat you daily and starve you nine meals out of ten!"
With that, Cui Hao stomped out dramatically, as if he wouldn’t return until he had found a stepmom for Xue Yang.
Once Cui Hao left, the dorm fell silent. Xue Yang massaged his throbbing temples. The hangover was intense; he swore to himself he would never drink again.
Rolling out of bed, Xue Yang washed up and headed to the Student Council office.
As usual, Yu Kexin had arrived before him and was about to eat some plain congee. When she saw Xue Yang come in, she exclaimed in surprise, "Xue Yang, you’re so pale. Are you feeling unwell?"
Xue Yang sat down and pressed his temples. "I’m fine. I accidentally had some hard liquor last night and I’m still a little dizzy. It’ll pass."
"I have some plain congee here that I haven’t opened. You should have it. Eating some congee after drinking will make you feel much better. The fried dough sticks are enough for me," Yu Kexin said, opening the container and placing it in front of him.
Xue Yang was feeling so unwell that he hadn’t gone to the cafeteria, so this was his first bite of breakfast.
"Thank you, Kexin."
After a few sips settled his stomach, Xue Yang began to feel a bit better. He quickly finished the congee and cleared the table. Yu Kexin still hadn’t started on her fried dough sticks; in front of her sat a laptop, and she appeared to be playing a game.
"You like to play games, Kexin?"
"Yeah, League of Legends. This game is a lot of fun. Do you play, Xue Yang?"
"I just started playing over the summer break. I’m only in the Platinum Rank right now."
"Getting to Platinum Rank after only starting over the summer is very impressive."
"What rank are you, Kexin?"
"Strongest King."
"That’s amazing!" Xue Yang exclaimed.
Yu Kexin admitted a little bashfully, "Actually, my love for gaming is what got me into computer science."
