Rejected By My Mate, Now Mated To The Lycan King-Chapter 170
~ NYSSA
With a curse, I turned on my heels, heading for Aria who was already waiting for me by the car.
"Any idea what’s going on?" I asked but she shook her head.
"I’ve mind linked Rowan though, he’s already on his way. It’ll be best if we’re out of here by then."
I frowned. "Is this how it is lays going to be? Me running away when there’s trouble?"
"Unless you suddenly developed fighting skills in the past hour then yes. If there’s a fight then you’ll be no good there, everyone will be too worried trying to make sure that you are safe. Its for the best if we’re as far away Freon here as possible."
I pursed my lips, leaning back into the seat as she drove in silence. "I guess I’ll just have to learn to fight then."
Her lips curved upwards into a smile. "I’m sure Rowan will be more than excited to teach you, although I use the word teach very loosely."
She grinned as she spoke and the insinuation in her voice was. Lear. I rolled my eyes, turning away from her as she wagged her brows at me. I turned my attention back to the road, and not a moment too soon because I saw something ahead of us.
"Watch out!" I screamed.
She turned her attention back to the road but it was far too late.
She was barely an inch away from the wolf in the middle of the road and she swerved at the last minute, trying to avoid hitting it only to veer off the side of the road.
She cursed loudly, her voice shaky as she wrestled with the steering wheel, trying to veer us back on course. I held onto the edge of my seat, eyes squeezing shut as the car came to a screeching halt, mere inches away from a tree.
"Oh my fucking—" she let out a shaky breath. "That was so clo—"
Something rammed into us hard from my side, sending us slamming into that tree.
The back of my head slammed into the seat hard enough that I saw stars dance in my vision and I heard a sharp crack from my left as Aria’s head slammed into the window,
The metallic scent of blood filled the air as smoke rose from the front of the car. I cursed low, trying to get my seatbelt off.
"Aria?" I asked, leaning over her. My hand touched her forehead and I cursed when it came back bloody. "Shit."
I dug around for my phone, sighing in relief when I realized that it had merely fallen on the floor in the struggle. I reached for it, tapping away furiously as my vision blurred. I found what I assumed was Rowan’s number and was about to hit call when my side door flung open.
I exhaled in relief. "Rowan—"
"Think again sweetheart."
I didn’t recognize the voice, or the man in front of me but the smell of wet dog and dirt hit me straight in the nose and I knew.
I opened my mouth to scream but the words never got out before he grabbed me harshly by my hair, tugging me out of the car.
Pain shot up my arm as I slammed into the ground. Bits of gravel hit the side of my face but the man didn’t seem to care, he tugged me harder, pulling me further away from the car.
"Your mate may have thought he wiped us all out but he was wrong. I’m going to make him pay for killing my family."
I looked around, searching for help, but the road was empty, nd Aria was unconscious still. A feeling id become all to acquainted with settled deep in my chest, my throat burned and my heart hammered wildly in my chest as I realized that I was alone. Help wasn’t coming.
I grabbed at the hand holding my hair and clawed hard, trying to pull my hair free. My scalp burned as he grabbed on tighter but I struggled against his grip.
"Stop fighting, bitch!"
As he pulled me further towards the trees, my hand caught on a twig. It wasn’t much, but I grabbed it and with all my might, shoved it as hard as I could into his side, it broke in impact, but the shock was enough for him to loosen his grip.
I took the opportunity and pulled away from him, rushing to my feet. My head was thrumming with pain from how hard he was pulled me, and his eyes were wild with anger. Adrenaline coursed through me, my hands shaking violently as I assessed him.
"You’re going to regret that," he hissed, pulling out a switch blade from his back pocket. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
He was much bigger and clearly stronger. I wasn’t going to win in a fight with him, not by playing fair. I waited until he rushed for me before receding control to my wolf.
She took over instantly, tearing through my clothes as my bones snapped. He didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late.
I lunged at him, pinning him to the ground with all my might but he recovered quickly, ramming the blade into my side.
A howl escaped me as white hot pain shot us my entire body. My limbs shook and I felt hi, vibrate behind me as he began to shift.
In thy moment, I knew I had to make a choice.
If he were to shift, there was no force on earth that would stop him from killing me, not unless someone magically found us now.
My wolf took over, mouth opening wide as our teeth clamped around his neck. I bit down hard, the metallic taste of blood flowing my mouth me ripped.
His head flew to the side, slamming into a tree as blood gushed everywhere; on my paws, in my mouth, on my face.
I stumbled back, eyes widening in shock as I took in what I had done.
The rogue lay decapitated and unbreathing on the floor and slowly, the adrenaline wore off. Pain slammed into me at once and my legs gave way.
"How bad?" I asked my wolf, not wanting to look.
"Bad enough. Wolf’s bane dagger, you’ll be forced to shift back soon."
"Nyssa!" a voice called out through the haze of pain that washed over me. "Where... oh fuck." Dark hair fell over me as worried eyes assessed me. "Shit, I’m going to get help."
I tried to speak, to thank her, but the words wouldn’t come out. My grip on reality loosened as darkness crept into my vision.
"Stay awake!" She ordered. "Someone will be here soon."
I tried, I truly did, but I couldn’t keep my eyes open, not for long.
