Rejected and Claimed by her Alpha Triplets-Chapter 294 - a widow
294
~Thorne’s POV
The silence between us stretched for a long time. The air in the room was warm, filled with the sound of our uneven breathing. Elara’s eyes were still wet, her cheeks flushed from tears. I found myself moving closer to her.
She didn’t move away. She just stood there, looking up at me, her eyes searching mine like she was trying to see into my soul.
"Elara," I whispered.
"Yes?" she said softly.
I reached out, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. My fingers lingered against her skin, warm and soft. She shivered slightly.
And before I could stop myself, I leaned in and kissed her.
It wasn’t a hesitant kiss. It was deep, full of every emotion. Her lips parted under mine, and for a few seconds, everything else disappeared. No wars, no Lisa, no past. Just her.
When I finally pulled away, she was breathless, her eyes wide and glistening. "Thorne..." she whispered, still catching her breath.
I smiled faintly. "I just had to."
She shook her head, smiling through her blush.
I looked down for a moment, trying to steady my thoughts.
I sighed. "Ever since I met Lisa, I’ve felt something strange. Like I said earlier, it’s like... a connection, but not one of love or attraction. More like power."
"Power?" Elara repeated, looking lost.
"Yes," I nodded. "It’s as if something inside me reacts when she’s around. My instincts go wild, but not because I desire her. It’s like my blood recognizes her, as if she’s family. This lady has a striking resemblance to me. And that’s what I planned to find out. "
Her eyes widened slightly. "Family?"
"Maybe," I said. "That’s what I want to find out. I want to know if she’s somehow connected to my bloodline."
Elara’s face softened. "Then maybe it’s not fate binding you two. Maybe it’s heritage."
"Exactly," I said quietly. "That’s why I need to find out the truth."
She smiled faintly, her eyes warm again. "So... I’ll soon have a sister-in-law then?"
I blinked at her in surprise, then laughed softly. "You really think so?"
She nodded, smiling wider now. "If she’s family, that makes her my sister-in-law, doesn’t it?"
I chuckled. "You’re unbelievable."
"I’m serious," she teased. "But if you truly want to find her, Thorne, you can’t do it by starting a war."
I frowned slightly. "Then how do I find her?"
"Not by attacking the triplets," she said firmly. "You’ll lose men. Maybe even your life. There are other ways, smarter ways. We can find her without making enemies."
Her words calmed me, as they always did. "Alright," I said quietly. "What do you suggest?"
Before she could answer, Luke walked closer.
I had forgotten that he was in the room with us.
He bowed his head respectfully. "Alpha. I have something to report to you."
"What is it?" I asked.
He walked closer, his tone serious. "Actually, yes. I just received word, it’s a rumor for now, but it’s spreading fast. Alpha Damon and his brothers were attacked last night."
Elara gasped softly. "Attacked? By who?"
Luke shook his head. "No one knows for sure yet. But the word is that it was a full-on infiltration. Many of their guards were killed, and the attackers went straight for the three alphas."
I frowned deeply. "Who would be that mad or brave to go after them directly?"
"That’s the question," Luke said. "Whoever did it must have had a death wish. You know how ruthless those three are."
Elara nodded slowly. "Did they survive?"
"Yes," Luke said. "Barely. But from what I’ve heard, the attackers failed. The triplets slaughtered them all."
I leaned back slightly, my mind racing. "So they’re still alive. Interesting."
Luke nodded. "Alive, and furious, I’m sure. Which is why we should avoid any move against them right now. They’ll be suspicious of everyone."
He was right.
"Then we need to find another way," I said finally. "We can’t approach them head-on right now. But I still need to know more about Lisa."
Luke looked at me, curious. "How do you suggest we do that, Alpha?"
Before I could answer, Elara stepped forward. "I have an idea," she said.
We both turned to her.
"I’ll send one of my maids," she explained calmly. "Someone who can blend in, someone they won’t suspect at all, and find out more about Lisa. Quietly."
Luke frowned. "A spy?"
"Not exactly," Elara said softly. "Just someone observant. Someone who can get close enough to listen, to see what’s happening. If Lisa’s really connected to Thorne’s bloodline, we’ll find out soon enough."
I tilted my head. "You think that’ll work?"
"It’s the safest way," she said. "They’ll be too cautious now after being attacked. But if we send someone harmless, a servant, a helper, they might not suspect much."
Luke crossed his arms. "Still risky. They’ll be watching everyone who comes close. One wrong word and your maid could be killed, and that would be traced back to us."
"I’ll choose carefully," Elara said firmly. "Someone loyal, quiet, and smart."
I nodded slowly. "Then we’ll do it your way."
Luke looked at me, surprised. "You agree?"
"Yes," I said simply. "We’ll take a step back from the original plan. No war. Not yet. I want answers before blood."
Luke bowed slightly. "As you wish, Alpha."
"Good," I said. "And Luke..."
"Yes?"
"Look into the attack. Find out who went after the triplets and why. I want every piece of information: who planned it, who funded it, and what they wanted."
He nodded firmly. "Consider it done."
"Go now," I ordered quietly.
Luke bowed again. "Alpha." And then he turned and left the room.
The door closed behind him, and silence filled the space again.
Elara was still standing close to me, her hand resting lightly on my arm. "You did the right thing," she whispered.
I turned to her, smiling faintly. "You always know how to calm the storm inside me."
She smiled softly. "That’s because I’m your Luna."
I stared at her for a moment, the warmth in my chest growing again. Then, without thinking, I reached out and pulled her closer to me.
"Thorne..." she whispered, her eyes wide again.
"Shh," I murmured, my fingers brushing against her cheek. "Just this once, don’t think."
And before she could say another word, I leaned down and kissed her again.
This time, it wasn’t rushed. It was slow, deep, and tender.
Her hands rested on my chest, and I felt her heart beating fast beneath my palm. When we finally pulled apart, we both stood there, breathing softly, our foreheads resting together. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
She smiled faintly. "You almost turned me into a widow."
I chuckled.
