Rejected and Claimed by her Alpha Triplets-Chapter 283 - our home
283
~Damon’s POV
I had just lifted the cup of water to my lips when I heard the pounding of boots outside. Then the door flew open.
"My Lord...!"
The guard was breathless, eyes wide and filled with panic.
"What is it?" I snapped, standing too quickly.
"It’s the palace, Alpha!" he said, his voice trembling. "We’re under attack!"
The words hit me like a blade to the chest. "What?"
"They came through the east side, my Lord. They broke through the outer wall. The warriors are fighting, but there are too many..."
"Sound the alarm," I ordered sharply. "Call our soldiers. Send the maids to the lower chambers now!"
"Yes, Alpha!" he said and ran off.
My blood boiled. I grabbed my sword from the table, my hands shaking with fury.
"Who is so stupid enough to strike at my pack?!"
I didn’t even care that my chest still burned where the poison had torn through me. I stormed out of my room, my bare feet slamming against the cold floor as I made my way to Kael and Rowan’s quarters.
The hallway was already chaos, maids screaming, guards shouting orders, the smell of smoke and blood faint but growing stronger.
When I reached Rowan’s door, I didn’t knock. I pushed it open.
Rowan was half sitting on his bed, shirtless, sweat glistening across his body.
"Damon?" he asked, startled. "What’s going on?"
"We’re under attack," I said firmly. "The east wall has been breached."
He cursed under his breath and tried to stand, groaning as pain ripped through his body.
"Don’t move too fast," I said.
"I’ll be fine," he hissed, gripping the bedpost. "Where’s Kael?"
"He went to his room."
We both turned and ran toward Kael’s quarters. The door was already open. Kael stood there, pale but alert, his hand on his side as if trying to stop the pain from eating him alive.
He looked up at us. "I heard the alarm."
"Good," I said. "Get ready. We’re going out."
Kael frowned. "Damon, we are still recovering. Ur soldiers should be able to handle this. We can barely..."
"I don’t care, this didn’t seem like a simple intrusion, Kael," I cut in sharply. "This is our pack. We fight."
Rowan nodded. "He’s right. We fight."
Kael stared at us both, then nodded slowly. "Then we end it."
We grabbed our swords and armor. My hands shook slightly as I fastened the chest strap. The poison left my limbs weak, but my anger kept me upright.
As we walked down the corridor, guards ran past us, shouting. One of them stopped to salute.
"Your Majesties!" he said. "We’ve gathered some men from the north wing, but..."
"Not enough," I said coldly. "Send word to the barracks. I want every skilled soldier out here. No one stays behind unless they’re guarding the women and children."
"Yes, Alpha!"
"And get the blacksmiths ready. We’ll need fresh blades if this drags on." Rowan added.
He bowed and ran off.
We continued forward. The further we went, the louder the noise became, growls, screams, steel against steel.
Kael clenched his jaw. "They’re close."
"Too close," Rowan muttered.
I could smell the blood before I saw the bodies. When we reached the courtyard doors, two of our guards were lying lifeless on the floor, their throats torn open.
My wolf howled inside me, demanding release.
I looked at my brothers. "Ready?"
Kael nodded. "Always."
Rowan’s lips pressed into a grim line. "Let’s make them regret this."
We burst through the courtyard doors.
The night was on fire. Flames rose high, painting the sky red. The ground was soaked in blood. The smell of iron filled my lungs.
"Go for the gate!" I shouted.
Our men roared in answer.
Kael and Rowan shifted first, their wolves massive and furious. I followed, letting my control slip. My bones cracked, my muscles tore and reshaped, fur bursting through my skin.
Pain shot through me, worse because of the poison still in my veins, but I didn’t care. The rage drowned it out.
Once my paws hit the ground, I lunged forward.
The first intruder didn’t see me coming. I slammed into him, snapping his neck in one move. Another leaped from the side. I turned and bit deep into his shoulder, dragging him down.
Rowan was a blur of silver fur, tearing through two wolves at once. Kael slammed into another group, his claws flashing in the firelight.
Through the mind-link, I barked, Push them back to the gate! Don’t let them spread through the halls!
Yes, Alpha! My men’s voices echoed in my head.
We were ruthless. We had to be.
Blood sprayed across my fur as I fought. Every movement hurt, but I refused to stop. The poison burned through my veins, but the fury kept me alive.
"Fall back to the wall!" I yelled through the link. "Reinforce the east gate!"
Kael growled. There are too many, Damon!
"Then we kill them all."
He didn’t argue. None of them dared to.
We fought our way toward the gate. More wolves came pouring in, howling and snarling. The courtyard became a field of death.
Rowan’s growl echoed through the link. They keep coming. They’re not retreating!
Kael slashed another enemy down. Who the hell are they?
"I don’t know," I said through gritted teeth, throwing another body aside. "But this isn’t just a random attack....it’s war."
Everywhere I looked, fire and blood.
My guards fell, my wolves fought like demons, and still the intruders came.
A young warrior ran up to me, his face covered in sweat and blood. "Alpha Damon!" he shouted. "The walls, they’ve breached the second gate!"
My chest tightened.
"Then seal the third! Double the defense! Bring archers to the towers, now!" Kael ordered.
"Yes, Alpha!"
Rowan shifted back into human form, his body trembling, but his eyes still burning. "They are too many," he said. "Someone planned this."
"I know," I said. "And whoever they are, they’ll regret it."
Kael stood beside us, blood dripping from his claws. "We can’t hold forever."
"We don’t need forever," I said. "We just need long enough for the others to get here."
I shifted again without hesitation.
Teeth met steel. Claws met armor.
I ripped, bit, tore. The sound of growls and screams filled my ears.
Still, they kept coming.
Dozens of them.
Hundreds, maybe.
"Fall back!" I shouted through the link. "Form the line at the fountain!"
The surviving guards obeyed instantly. We gathered, shoulder to shoulder, a wall of bloodied wolves against a sea of enemies.
The clash shook the ground.
Kael snarled, They’re trained, Damon! Whoever sent them knew exactly where to strike!
"I know," I said, slashing another wolf down. "But they made one mistake."
What’s that? Rowan asked.
"They came to our home."
