Rejected: A love story-Chapter 66: The Kidnap 2
NATHAN — POV
"I gotta go pee" She suddenly said standing up.
"OK, um..should I come with you?" I was already on my feet by the way.
"Are you a pervert? Of course not! I’ll be right back."
"And you’re sure you’re not drunk?." I asked concerned.
"No Nathan! I’m perfectly fine"
"You’re sure you don’t want me to...."
"Nathan! I can handle myself." She cut me off and left before I could protest.
The damn restaurant became too quiet.
I sat there alone, staring at the empty seat across from me. I had earlier bought a diamond ring cause I was planning to propose, I guess I was rushing things like she said. She had a life of her own away from me. What was I thinking? Of course it was too early... but can you blame a man inlove? Minutes passed and she didn’t come back yet—like she’d just gotten up to use the restroom and would come right back but she didn’t.
At first, I didn’t think anything of it. I waited for five minutes, which became ten, then I started checking the time like an idiot.
I called her, it rang once then went dead. That was when something in my chest tightened.
I turned to the window, looking outside, expecting to see the driver standing where he always stands. But he wasn’t there, the spot was empty.
Something was wrong, I could feel it. I dialed the driver’s number but it was switched off.
I stood up immediately. My chair scraped so loud the couple beside me flinched. I didn’t care. I grabbed my jacket, threw cash on the table and stormed out.
The air outside hit me at once.
"Fuck," I muttered under my breath.
I started pacing like a madman, calling her again, then the driver, then her again.
I went back inside, straight to the ladies room and began knocking violently.... It attracted a staff.
"Mr. Keith...what do you need sir" She looked confused herself.
"I need to check if my girlfriend is ok. Can you do that."
She nodded and entered but came out not quite long.
"There’s no one in there sir"
"What do you mean there’s no one in there? My girlfriend came to use the bathroom!" I yelled.
"It’s empty sir"
Fiona would NEVER leave without telling me. She wasn’t that reckless and the driver? He’d never disappear with her unless—unless something happened.
I clenched my jaw and called Alex immediately running out. He picked on the second ring. "Sir?"
"Track my Office car," I said immediately.
"Now."
He didn’t ask why, he understood my tone.
"Yes, sir."
The waiting was hell. My hands wouldn’t stay still. I kept switching between staring at the road and staring at my phone. Every single car passing made my stomach twist.
Why didn’t I get up with her?
Why the hell didn’t I follow her?
"Sir," Alex finally called back.
My heart dropped. "Tell me you found it."
"We— we’re trying, but the GPS isn’t responding."
"What do you mean it’s not responding?" I snapped.
"It’s disabled. The car’s tracker was tampered with."
My blood ran cold, someone planned this.
"You have five minutes," I growled. "If that car doesn’t show up on every goddamn screen in the city by then—"
"Yes, sir, I’m on it."
I hung up before he finished talking.
I called Fiona again, it went straight to oicemail.
"Fiona, call me back," I said through clenched teeth. "Right now. Please."
I never say please. I ran a hand through my hair, tugging hard. I couldn’t breathe, everything felt tight. My chest, my throat, my skin, my bones.
Three minutes later—gone, my vision blurred with rage. Someone took her! Someone actually took her.
And they timed it, they waited for me to sit comfortably. They waited for her to be alone! They waited for the perfect moment.
My phone vibrated. It was Alex again.
"Sir," he said, voice shaky this time. "The system confirms the tracker was manually shut down. This wasn’t a malfunction."
I shut my eyes, I knew it! I fucking knew it!
Alex continued, more nervous, "We’re working with street cameras now. But the car hasn’t passed any of the usual checkpoints. There’s... there’s nothing."
My grip tightened on the phone. "Someone planned this."
"I believe so, sir."
I exhaled sharply, trying not to explode. "Find. The. Car." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"We’re—"
"FIND IT!"
The shout ripped out of me. People nearby turned to stare. I didn’t care, not one bit.
"Y—yes sir. Right away."
I hung up before he could embarrass himself stuttering.
I wasn’t even pacing anymore—I was standing still, staring at nothing, shaking from how hard I was clenching my fists.
Everything inside me was screaming the same thing over and over:
She’s in danger.
My phone buzzed again—this time a message.
Unknown number. My stomach dropped so hard I almost felt sick.
"She shouldn’t have touched what wasn’t hers."
My mind went blank for a full second before rage crashed into me so violently I felt dizzy.
I dialed Alex again. "Shut down everything else you’re doing," I said. "I don’t care about meetings or schedules or contracts. There’s only one thing that matters today."
"Yes, sir."
"Find Fiona."
"Understood."
I ended the call and finally moved—fast. I grabbed my keys, got into my car myself, slammed the door, and drove out of the parking lot like a man unhinged.
The driver—he was part of it or forced into it. Either way, someone inside my circle was compromised.
The drive back home felt endless. My fingers wouldn’t stay still on the steering wheel; I kept tapping, clenching, loosening, tapping again.I stepped harder on the accelerator. Because if anyone had a hand in this — directly or indirectly — it would be someone who had access to her route, her schedule, and who hated her enough to pull something this sick move.
Natasha. The name kept pounding in my skull.
She had motive! She had obsession and she had the stupidity level required.
The moment I reached the gates, the guards rushed forward with their usual greetings. I didn’t answer. I walked past them, straight into the house.
