Rejected: A love story-Chapter 154: Did she reincarnate
She watched as the man swallowed hard, still staring at her as though he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
"I... I..." he stuttered, his voice failing him.
Mateo rested slightly in Viktoria’s arms, clutching his teddy bear as his sleepy blue eyes studied the stranger.
"Are you alright?" Viktoria asked, now completely confused.
The man blinked again, finally forcing himself to speak.
"Y-yes... I’m Alex. Mr. Keith’s executive assistant," he said, still visibly shaken. His eyes stayed on her her face over and over again, then to Mateo... then back to her.
He looked like someone trying to convince himself she was real.
"Mr. Keith isn’t in the office at the moment," Alex finally to say.
"Oh..." Viktoria nodded slightly. "That’s alright. I have an appointment scheduled, I can wait."
Alex hesitated.... his heart was beating faster than usual. Over two years... two whole years... and yet this woman standing in front of him looked exactly like—
’No! She isn’t real, they just look alike.’
But she was identical, same eyes, same lips. Just the difference was the hair.
She even had that calm aura.... his gaze shifted again to the child. They were the same blue eyes as Nathan’s.
’Anyone can have blue eyes’ He quickly told himself.
"I... I can call him," Alex said suddenly, almost too quickly.
Viktoria smiled politely. "If it’s not too much trouble."
"Not at all," Alex replied, though his hands were slightly shaking.
"Please... this way," he said, gesturing toward the waiting area.
Viktoria followed him quietly, she was so confused. Everyone she came across today in this office were acting weird. Even the few employees seated nearby had paused their work.
Some were openly staring, while others whispered softly to one another
He gestured toward a seating area. "Please... you can sit over there. I’ll inform him."
"Thank you," Viktoria said softly.
She walked over to the lounge area, settling Mateo gently on the couch beside her. The little boy immediately curled into her side, still hugging his teddy.
Alex stepped away quickly, pulling out his phone as he moved toward a quieter corner.
He dialed Nathan’s number immediately. It rang twice before he answered.
"Alex?" Nathan’s deep voice came through. "I’m very busy at the moment.... Is this urgent?"
Alex swallowed. "Sir... you... you need to come to the office."
There was a pause. "Alex, I said I’m in a—"
"Sir... I know you went to visit the cemetery but" Alex interrupted, something he rarely did. "There’s...someone here to see you and it’s very important right now that you see her before she leaves."
Nathan’s voice hardened slightly. "Who?"
Alex hesitated, he couldn’t tell him Fiona arose from the grave and has a son who has his exact eyes.
"Sir... it’s... it’s Miss..."
He stopped himself. ’No! She is dead. They buried her.’ He tried to convince himself
He forced himself to speak, carefully, selecting his choice of words. "Her name is Viktoria Ivanova..."
Nathan sighed "Alex, you’re seriously calling me about Mr. Nikolai Volkov?"
Alex exhaled slowly. "I think the wife came instead. But sir, you must see this...."
"She looks exactly like... her, sir."
Nathan frowned "like who?"
Alex didn’t respond for a long moment. "...Alex?"
"Yes, sir."
"I’m on my way, and you better be making sense."
Alex glanced toward Viktoria, who was now softly speaking to Mateo, brushing his hair gently from his forehead.
"Yes, sir."
"I’m on my way."
The call ended and Alex lowered his phone slowly, his heart still racing. He looked at Viktoria again, did she reincarnate? That’s not even possible, considering her age.
Viktoria looked around and almost all the employees were staring at her, some even whispered as they passed.
Mateo turned to his mother, "Mummy, why’s everyone staring at us?" He asked.
Viktoria glanced at them again, then back to her son. "I don’t know, baby." She said arranging his hair.
"But don’t worry baby." She continued, "Mummy just needs to do a few things, then we can go back to the hotel, okay."
Mateo nodded. "Okay, mommy."
"Are you hungry?" She asked and he shook his head.
"No?" She asked again and he nodded.
"Alright, baby. Let me know when you’re hungry baby, okay?."
"Okay, mummy."

"Finally." Alex said rushing to Nathan’s side, walking with him.
He was dressed in his usual black suit and his hair had even grew longer, even his beard was unkempt.
He hardly had time for himself, because he was always visiting Fiona’s grave and would spend at least all day there.
"Why are you sweating? You look like you’ve seen a ghost." Nathan said scanning his face.
"Well, maybe I have sir." Alex replied, still shaken from earlier.
When they got to the lounge area Nathan stopped.
"Where’s she?" Nathan asked.
"Who?"
"Don’t play with me Alex, I’m not in the mood." Nathan warned, his tone clearly serious.
"In your office sir, she didn’t want to wait here any longer because of the way the employees were staring at her." Alex explained.
"Why were they staring? Let me guess....lousy makeup?" Nathan asked turning to his office doorway.
"More than that sir, it’s better you see it yourself."
Nathan held the door knob as he opened the door and Alex breathed out loud before following.
"Drop that, Mateo!"
Nathan heard the woman cautioned a little boy, her back was turned to him so he couldn’t see her.
He could only clear his throat. Viktoria turned at the sound of the throat clearing, her eyes meeting Nathan’s almost instantly.
His entire body went stiff, was this some kind of joke or dream? Viktoria frowned slightly, confused by the intensity of his stare.
"Mr. Keith?" she asked. "I’m Viktoria Volkov, pleasure meeting you." She said stretching her hand for a hand shake, bit he didn’t take it. He couldn’t even move.
Viktoria stood confused, she glanced at Nathan and Alex before taking her gaze to her son. That was when she saw he was still with the pen he took from Nathan’s table.
"Mateo, behave." She said taking the pen from him. "I’m sorry about that."
Nathan blinked, finally breaking free from the trance. His gaze shifted to the little boy beside her, who was holding a teddy bear and smiling at him. What shocked him most was that the boy had blue eyes, the same as his.
