Rejected: A love story-Chapter 109: What club?
He moved toward her, intentionally bumping into her.
"Oh, sorry. So sorry," he said quickly, bending down to pick up the books that had fallen from her hands.
"It’s okay," she replied, brushing herself off.
They both straightened at the same time, and she seemed momentarily stunned, her eyes lingering on him.
"Hi, you look..." She paused, clearly flustered.
"I look what?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Good... never mind. I’m Tasha," she said, stretching out her hand for a handshake.
"Dennis," he replied, taking her hand but kissing it instead.
"Ooh, bold. I like that," Tasha said, biting her lip as she glanced at him. She suddenly hit her forehead, realizing something. "Oh no, I’m late!"
She adjusted her bag and turned to him with a playful smile. "You’ll be coming to the club that’s opening tonight, right?"
"What club?" he asked.
"The one on Main Street. You should come. Bring your mask... come find me," she said, biting her lip again before walking away, deliberately swaying her hips.
"I’ll find you, alright," Dennis muttered under his breath, his gaze following her.
Tasha turned her head back to flash him a smile before she faced forward and walked away.
As soon as she was out of sight, Dennis’s smirk faded. He had already succeeded in planting a device on her without her knowing.
Fiona’s POV
I tucked my hair behind my ear, scribbling notes in my notebook. Last night hadn’t gone as expected, but at least I got to relax my nerves.
"Hey, girlfriend," a familiar voice chirped.
I looked up to see Tasha plopping down beside me, her bag slung over her shoulder.
"Hey. You’re late," I said, focusing back on my notes.
"Yeah, last night was crazy. I had way too much to drink," she replied, rummaging through her bag.
I nodded but kept my attention on the lecturer in front of the class.
"How did you manage to make it here on time, Miss Nerdy?" she teased, nudging me with her elbow.
"Old habits," I replied with a polite smile, keeping my eyes on my notes.
"Anyway," she said, lowering her voice, "the new club downtown just opened, and everyone is invited. Drinks are free for ladies."
I turned to look at her, raising an eyebrow. Was this girl serious?
"Tasha, you just complained about being drunk last night, and now you’re planning to go to a club for free drinks?" I stared at her, disbelief evident in my expression.
"Come on, girl, it’s for the fun! Really, yesterday’s pool party was boring. Tonight is a mask club night. There’ll be hot guys, and you won’t need to worry about them recognizing you after the whole fun thing."
"Thank you, Tasha, but I’ll pass," I said, turning back to my notes.
"Fiona! Don’t be boring. There are hot guys waiting for us, and you don’t have to pay for anything!" she persisted, leaning closer. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
When the lecturer glanced our way, she stayed still, pretending to take notes, but the moment he looked away, she continued.
"Okay, when was the last time you got laid?" she whispered loudly.
Two heads turned to look at us, shaking their heads in disapproval.
"Tasha, please! Why would you even ask me that? We’re in class, and I want to focus," I hissed, feeling my cheeks heat up.
"Fiona, just think about it—hot guys, free drinks, and a free show of hot bodies. Just come and enjoy the view with me. Let’s admire the men, if nothing else."
Nathan’s POV
I drove at full speed down the empty road, my mind racing as fast as my car. The spy I hired had given me Fiona’s exact location tonight.
She wasn’t the Fiona I used to know. When did she start clubbing? Going out late at night? She had always been focused on school and nothing else. What had changed? Was this her way of trying to forget about me?
I had so many questions, and no answers.
I had landed less than thirty minutes ago, and I was ready to meet her—though not like this. Dennis had told me she was going to a club, and since it was a mask event, I decided to go. I had been dying to see her, though I wasn’t sure if she felt the same way.
Not long after, I arrived in the small town. My GPS guided me to the club, and I parked where the other cars were lined up.
I slipped on my mask and stepped out of my car, wearing nothing but jeans. I pressed the key to lock my car and glanced around. My car was the only expensive one here.
I joined the queue, and as usual, the ladies couldn’t help but comment.
"Oh my God! Who the hell is that?"
"I bet he fell from heaven. What a hot body!"
"Now I’m glad I came."
"I wouldn’t mind getting down on my knees for him."
I sighed, ignoring the comments. I wasn’t here for any of them.
I had never waited in a line in my life. I was the wealthiest man in the city, and here I was, waiting in line just to get to a girl.
When it was finally my turn, I handed the bodyguard my fake ID. He checked it, nodded, and let me through.
Inside, the club was packed, the music loud, and the lights dim. Finding Fiona in this crowd was going to be a challenge.
"Hey, handsome, wanna dance?" a woman dressed in only panties approached me, her chest completely bare.
"Not interested," I replied coldly, walking away before she could persist.
It had been over an hour, and I still hadn’t found Fiona. With everyone wearing masks, this was harder than I had anticipated.
Frustrated, I headed to the bar.
"Whiskey. Keep them coming," I told the bartender as I sat on a stool.
I didn’t usually drink, but the thought of Fiona with another man was eating me alive.
The bartender placed the drinks in front of me, and I downed the first glass in one gulp. The alcohol stung my throat, a harsh reminder that I wasn’t used to drinking.
Just as I was about to give up, I heard a voice.
"Leave me!"
It was Fiona. I couldn’t mistake her voice for anyone else’s. I shot up from my seat, rushing toward the sound.
When I got there, a man was gripping her arm, trying to force her to stay.
"Didn’t you hear her? Leave her alone," I growled, shoving him away. Fiona stumbled, and I caught her before she hit the ground. She was heavily drunk.
"Who the f*** are you, man?" the guy shouted.
I sat Fiona down gently, then turned to face him. My chest rose and fell with anger, and his eyes widened when he saw me.
I didn’t need words.
"Hey, chill out, bro! You can have her!" he said quickly, backing off.
I carried Fiona in my arms.
"Who are you?" she slurred, her voice heavy with alcohol.
"Shhh," I said, placing a finger over her lips. Her masked eyes stared into mine, piercing my soul.
God, I’ve missed you.
I carried her to my car, placed her in the passenger seat, buckled her seatbelt, and drove off into the night.
