Reincarnation of The Villainess: She Has The Duke's Baby!-Chapter 64: #-Penelope And Edmund’s Date Night
"Penny, am I bothering you?"
Penelope, who was writing something in her book, turned around. The woman smiled and stood up from her chair and then walked over to Edmund, who was standing by the door of the guest room she occupied at Gerwyn’s mansion. After talking about Isaac Abraham with Ethan Askary, Edmund and Penelope returned to Gerwyn’s mansion because Penelope still wanted to stay there. After facing Edmund, Penelope immediately hugged the man’s waist and looked up to see Edmund’s handsome face. The woman smiled happily.
"No. I’m just writing something. Why are you looking for me?" Penelope asked. She chuckled as Edmund bent down to kiss her on the cheek. Edmund’s grip on her waist tightened even more.
"I want to ask you out on a date. Do you want to come with me?"
Penelope raised an eyebrow. "A date? At this time of night?"
"Chris said there was a festival nearby. There will be fireworks too." Edmund pinched Penelope’s nose lightly. "You really like the food at the festival, don’t you? Like when we were in the North at that time. If you’re afraid to go out at this time of night, you don’t need to worry. I am by your side to protect you. There is Jellal, who is also a shadow knight like Chris, who will protect us. Edgar will also be going with us." Edmund knelt in front of Penelope and kissed Penelope’s stomach and caressed it. "I also want to take my child for a walk. My child must be feeling stressed today because it has to meet annoying people."
Penelope laughed again and stroked Edmund’s hair gently. "Okay. But, how about we disguise ourselves as commoners and wear ordinary clothes? I’ll borrow Sarah’s clothes and you can borrow Sir Edgar’s. I’m sure Sir Edgar has some plain clothes for you to wear."
"Good idea," nodded Edmund. The man kissed Penelope on the forehead. "Then, get ready. I will wait for you downstairs, my beautiful Duchess."
After asking for Sarah’s help to dress her up to look like ordinary girls, who didn’t come from aristocratic families, Penelope immediately went downstairs. She could see Edmund waiting for her by the door of the mansion while talking something with Evan the butler. Edmund looked very handsome in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Then, Edmund’s shirt button was left open. His black hair was messy. At Edmund’s waist was his sword which the man always carried wherever he went. Just seeing Edmund in his new appearance made Penelope’s heart beat wild and her face flushed.
"Oh my God, My Lady!" Sarah whispered in Penelope’s ear. "Did you see Duke Edmund’s new appearance? That man is very handsome, My Lady. You are a very lucky lady in the De Louis empire to have managed to earn Duke Edmund’s attention and love! If Duke Edmund wasn’t known as the cruelest man in the De Louis empire, I’m sure there would be plenty of women who would want Duke Edmund to be their husband!"
Penelope snorted and pouted. "Sarah, don’t say anything weird. If those women truly love Ed, they should be able to accept Ed as he is." The woman cleared her throat and fanned her own face with her hands. Her face heated up and blushed even more. "Come on, let’s go now before I run out of really good food at the festival."
Right now, Penelope was wearing Sarah’s clothes. Her hair was braided in two so that she looked like a commoner. She is so beautiful. Maybe people wouldn’t believe it if Penelope claimed she was a commoner. The woman came down the stairs with eyes fixed on Edmund’s handsomeness. It made Penelope lose focus and slip. She blinked and screamed, making Sarah gasp but too late to save her Lady.
"My Lady!" Sarah shouted frantically.
Meanwhile, Penelope closed her eyes, preparing to accept the worst. She prayed silently, wishing to the Goddess Elleia that she would protect the children she was carrying. After waiting for a while and Penelope felt no pain in her body, the woman opened her eyes. She blinked when she saw the extremely sexy-athletic chest in front of her and also took in the masculine scent of the man in front of her, then looked up. Edmund’s handsome face greeted her. Those blue eyes flashed with panic and worry. It turned out that Edmund caught Penelope’s body so that she would not fall from the stairs and get hurt.
"How did you get here when the distance from the mansion door to the stairs is quite far?" Penelope asked in a confused tone.
Edmund snorted. "Do you have to ask something like that? I also have magic power, Honey. Though, maybe not as powerful as yours, who has the same power as Goddess Elleia." The Duke then examined Penelope’s condition from head to toe, then focused on her stomach. "Are you okay? Why did you fall?"
"I’m fine. I just slipped."
"Because My Lady is so fascinated by your good looks, Duke!" Sarah exclaimed excitedly. The woman smiled broadly and nodded at Edmund, who blinked. Penelope herself could only lower her head and cover her face with both hands. She was embarrassed by Sarah’s sentence just now. "My Lady was unable to avert her eyes and was speechless when she looked at you, Duke! You are very good at impressing My Lady!"
"Hmm..." Edmund muttered. But, Penelope could hear the mockery in the man’s voice. "So, I’m so handsome that you can’t focus and end up slipping? I don’t mind if you really like my good looks, Honey. But, next time, please take care of yourself. Don’t get hurt, don’t make our child get hurt, just because you can’t control your love for me. I was so honored when I found out about this."
"You really are an annoying man, Edmund Gerwyn!" Penelope grumbled. With her face still red, the woman punched Edmund’s chest repeatedly, making the Duke laugh out loud. The man immediately hugged Penelope and kissed her face repeatedly to make Penelope avoid him as much as possible.
"All right, all right. I’m sorry for teasing you. So, how about we leave now?"
Penelope snorted but nodded. She held out both hands, causing Edmund to raise an eyebrow.
"Carry me on your back," Penelope pleaded in a spoiled tone. "Your children want to be carried by their Father."
Edmund laughed and shook his head in amusement. He turned and crouched in front of Penelope.
"You guys really make me very happy."
###
The atmosphere of the festival at night is very lively.
Penelope bought a lot of food and drink that was sold at the festival. Even though he was worried about the cleanliness of the food being sold at the festival, Edmund was happy to see Penelope happy. Before Penelope ate the food, Edmund had tasted it to detect whether the food was poisoned or not, so Edmund was no longer worried if the woman ate all of the food.
"Ed, there’s a balloon!" Penelope shouted excitedly. The woman hugged Edmund’s arm and looked up. Her eyes twinkled like a child’s, making Edmund laugh. The laughter made Edgar, Sarah, and Jellal gasp, and their mouths opened wide. They could never adapt to a smiling or laughing Edmund Gerwyn. And all of that because of the presence of Penelope Askary at the Duke’s side. "I want a balloon, Ed! Buy me balloons! The pink one and the blue one!"
"Balloon? You’re an adult and you want to buy balloons?" asked Edmund in an amused tone.
"So, what? Am I prohibited from buying balloons?" Penelope grumbled. The woman pouted. "Okay. It’s fine if you don’t want to buy it for me and our kids." Penelope looked down and rubbed her stomach. "My lovely children, it turns out that your Father is very stingy. Let’s find another kind man, who will buy us those pretty balloons."
As Penelope prepared to leave, the woman screamed as her body went up into the air. Then, Penelope realized that she was being carried by Edmund Gerwyn, who was smiling at her.
"Is my Duchess currently sulking at me?" asked Edmund seductively. "If you want the balloons, I’ll buy them all for you, Honey. My money won’t run out just because I buy all the balloons in the De Louis empire."
Penelope put her hands around Edmund’s neck and snorted. "Aren’t you going to buy it for me? Why have you changed your mind now?"
"Did you think I would let you approach other men and seduce them to buy you what you want?" Edmund raised an eyebrow. "Come on, don’t seduce me by showing that sullen face of yours. Do you want me to kiss your lips? I have no problem putting on an amazing show in front of everyone with you, Honey."
"Don’t talk nonsense with that annoying mouth of yours, Edmund Gerwyn," Penelope said, pinching Edmund’s lips. The man laughed again. "Hurry, buy me those balloons!"
"Yes, Princess."
Penelope let Edmund carry her. She smiled happily. The woman rested her head on Edmund’s shoulder and inhaled the masculine scent from the Duke’s body. The scent soothed her. Then, just as she was closing her eyes because of the sudden drowsiness and most likely because she was in Edmund’s arms, someone called her name. Penelope, who was almost asleep, opened her eyes and turned her head.
Then freeze.
Edmund Gerwyn could feel Penelope’s body which he was holding, stiffen. The man looked at Penelope’s face and frowned when he saw the woman’s face turn pale. Then, Edmund turned his head when he felt someone approaching him and Penelope. Edgar and Jellal immediately stood in front of the Duke and Penelope to protect them, while Sarah stood behind Edmund and Penelope.
"You are Penelope Askary, aren’t you?" asked the man in an excited tone. His red eyes looked at Penelope with sparkling eyes. "I can’t believe I’ll see you again, Penelope. Do you remember me? I’m Isaac Abraham. I was your and Ethan’s childhood friend. We always played together when we were little." Isaac stretched out his hand, intending to touch Penelope but Edgar pointed his sword straight at Isaac’s neck.
"Sorry for the inconvenience but I hope you don’t carelessly touch Princess Penelope."
Isaac frowned. His eyes were sharp and cold. "Hey, don’t you know who I am? I am the second son of Marquess Abraham! I’m Isaac Abraham! Who are you, huh? From your clothes, I’m sure you’re just a commoner hired by Penelope to protect her at this festival."
"Then, do you know who I am?"
The cold question made Isaac turn to the man behind Edgar. He looked at the man with a condescending gaze. "Huh? Should I know you?" Isaac raised an eyebrow and he narrowed his eyes. And then, the man froze and gasped. Isaac took a step back without him noticing and his body trembled. His index finger lifted and pointed at the man, who was holding Penelope. "Y—You..."
"You seem to recognize me now," nodded Edmund. The man gave Isaac a murderous look. "I am Edmund Gerwyn. I don’t need to explain my noble status to you, do I? And, you have to watch your attitude and words when dealing with Penelope Askary because she is my woman. She will become Duchess Gerwyn in the future. Do you want me to cut off your tongue and your other limbs because of your impudence toward Penelope Askary?"
Isaac gulped. He clenched his fists at his sides.
’Dammit! So, the news about Duke Edmund and Penelope’s wedding isn’t just a rumor?’ Isaac thought to himself.
