Reincarnation of The Villainess: She Has The Duke's Baby!-Chapter 50: #-I’m Seeing You For The First Time
Edgar looked at Edmund Gerwyn with pitying eyes.
The man who had long been Edmund Gerwyn’s personal knight was shocked when he heard the commotion that was happening in the Askary mansion. He didn’t know how to react when Edmund was dragged out by Duke Askary and even pushed so hard that Edmund fell. Seeing that, Edgar hurriedly knelt beside Edmund to help the Duke. He looked up and could understand why Duke Askary was so angry with Edmund. Edgar could also see Penelope Askary crying while holding her father’s arm and giving him a pleading look.
"Father, please, don’t do this to Ed! I’m guilty too, Father! If Father wants to be angry and punish Ed, then be angry and punish me too!"
Duke Askary looked at his daughter in disbelief. "Penny, did you just defend this shameless man in front of me?! He’s ruined your life, Honey! He got you pregnant!"
"I seduced him!" Penelope exclaimed. The tears kept flowing down her pretty face. Actually, Penelope was afraid of her father but she felt she had to protect Edmund. Maybe this is also the desire of the child in her womb. "I seduced Ed and finally got Ed to impregnate me, Father!"
Edmund looked at Penelope with a painful look. His heart ached to see the woman he loved crying and defending him like this in front of her father. Edmund clenched his jaw and looked at Duke Askary.
Should I kill him? Edmund thought. However, the man immediately shook his head firmly to drive away the evil thoughts that appeared in his head just now. He clenched both fists and looked up to stare at Duke Askary. Then Edmund knelt and pressed his forehead to the asphalt. This made everyone who saw Edmund gasp and freeze. Edgar immediately grabbed Edmund’s arms from behind and intended to make Edmund raise his head from under Duke Askary’s feet.
"Your Grace! What are you doing?! Raise your head, Your Grace! You don’t deserve to kneel like this in front of other people!" shouted Edgar.
"Ed!" Penelope also shouted. She intended to approach Edmund but her father immediately restrained her. "Father, don’t you see that Ed is earnestly begging you? Please, give him a chance, Father! I love him! He is the father of the child I am carrying!"
"Please allow me to marry Penny, Duke," said Edmund without lifting his head. "I will do anything as long as you allow us to marry. I love Penny. I need her in my life, Duke."
"I don’t want to hear any more nonsense from you, Edmund Gerwyn," growled Duke Askary. "Remember what I said earlier! Don’t you ever appear in front of me and Penny ever again! I can raise Penny’s child with help from my wife and Ethan! I don’t need a jerk like you to be my daughter’s husband. I won’t let my grandchild know what his or her father was like and what his or her father did to his or her mother until the child was able to appear in this world!" Duke Askary held Penelope’s arm firmly. "Penny, get into the mansion right now!"
"Father, I don’t want to leave Ed!" Penelope rebelled when her father dragged her inside their mansion. She was crying even more. Penelope kept looking back at Edmund who was still on his knees like a sinner. "Ed! Raise your head, Ed! You’re a respectable man! You’re innocent! Ed!"
Duke and Duchess Askary, as well as Penelope Askary, the three of them had already entered the mansion. However, Edmund still held on to his position. He could hear Edgar clicking his tongue impatiently and someone approaching him.
"This is your punishment, Duke Edmund," said Ethan coldly. "Punishment for making Penny’s life a mess. I won’t let you face all this easily. I will bring hell to you, Duke Edmund!"
After saying this, Ethan left Edmund. Edmund didn’t even care about the terrifying sound of thunder in the sky. Ethan stopped right in front of the entrance to his family’s mansion and looked back. Then, the man smirked. A mysterious smirk.
"You are a strong man indeed, Edmund Gerwyn. But, let’s see how far you can last."

"My Lady."
The soft call made Penelope wake up and stare at her bedroom door. Since the incident in front of the mansion, Penelope has shut herself up in her room and cried. She was angry at her parents. Maybe this is also one of the hormones felt by women who are in their early pregnancy but Penelope knows this is also because of the injustice that Edmund got from her father.
"Sarah." Penelope got out of bed and walked quickly toward Sarah. Penelope almost fell and Sarah rushed to catch her body. "Sarah, what about Ed? What happened to him after my father dragged me into the mansion?"
Sarah looked down and bit her lips. She didn’t know what to say. However, Sarah knew that her Lady was waiting for information from her and was feeling panicked and anxious right now.
"My Lady, since earlier, Duke Edmund has been sitting on his knees in front of the mansion."
Hearing that, Penelope widened her eyes. She held both Sarah’s shoulders and shook her body. "What?! Sarah, it’s pouring rain outside! Ed could get sick if he’s out in the pouring rain like this!"
"Sir Edgar has been trying to persuade Duke Edmund to come home, My Lady. But, Duke Edmund doesn’t want to listen to him." Sarah took a deep breath. "What shall I do, My Lady? I hate seeing Duke Edmund like that too."
Penelope bit her lip. Her tears flowed again. She rubbed her belly and looked down. The woman stared at her stomach with a firm gaze.
"Don’t worry, My child! I will send your father home so your father won’t get sick." Penelope wiped the tears off her face. "Sarah, is my family asleep yet?"
Sarah nodded.
"Good! In that case, please escort me to Duke Edmund. I’ll send him home."
Sarah actually worried for Penelope but she was sure that nothing she said to Penelope would change her Lady’s decision. Sarah could only nod and lead Penelope out of the secret passage that she had told Penelope before.
When they were outside, Penelope was wide-eyed. Edmund’s condition was really worrying. The man was probably still sitting up straight even on his knees. But, Penelope could see that Edmund’s athletic body was shaking violently from the cold. Penelope immediately ran from under the umbrella Sarah was holding, making Sarah wide-eyed and unable to scream for fear of waking everyone up. She walked quickly to catch up with her Lady.
"Ed!" Penelope immediately knelt before Edmund.
Surprised, Edmund turned his head and widened his eyes. He immediately took off his outer clothing and covered Penelope’s head so as not to be exposed to the rain.
"Penny, what are you doing here?! It’s pouring rain, Honey! You and our child could get sick!"
Just like Edmund, Edgar and Sarah who stood behind Edmund and Penelope also looked worried about Penelope’s condition. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"What about you? What are you doing kneeling like an idiot here?!" Penelope snapped. She cupped Edmund’s face and gasped. "Oh, Lord! Your skin is so cold, Ed! Please, go home for now. We can find a way out of this problem another time."
Edmund shook his head and kissed Penelope’s both palms. "I can’t leave you. I don’t want to part with you anymore. I am willing to kneel here every day until Duke Askary changes his mind."
"Ed, my father isn’t changing his mind anytime soon." Penelope looked down and she sobbed. "And I don’t want to see you get hurt or get sick. So, please... Please go home for now. I’ll try to talk to my father again. If you don’t go home, I’ll be kneeling here with you in the rain."
"Penelope Askary! What were you talking about just now?" asked Edmund in a firm tone. "How could I let you do such a dangerous thing?"
"Do you think I want to see you do something dangerous like this?" Penelope asked back. She smiled and kissed Edmund gently on the lips. It didn’t matter if Edgar and Sarah could see it. "If you love me, please grant my wishes. I’ll let you know as soon as I get my father to change his mind. You will go back home now, right? Hmm?"
Seeing Penelope who was starting to shake from the cold, Edmund took a deep breath. He smiled and caressed the cheek of the woman in front of him.
"I give up," said Edmund. "You can always make me follow your words. Alright, I’ll go home after I see you come inside."
"You promise?"
Edmund nodded. "I never break my promises, Penny."
Penelope smiled with relief and kissed Edmund again on the lips. This time, their kiss lasted long enough. Then, Edmund helped Penelope to stand up and Sarah immediately covered Penelope. After waving at Edmund, Sarah escorted Penelope back into the mansion. However, Sarah suddenly ran toward Edmund and Edgar who were preparing to leave the Askary mansion’s courtyard.
"Your Grace!" Sarah exclaimed. She ran without her umbrella. Seeing that Sarah was wet because of the rain, Edgar immediately took off his outer clothing and put it on Sarah’s head to protect her from the rain. Sarah turned her head, nodded with a smile, and thanked him. Her eyes were now focused on Edmund. "Your Grace, are you willing to do anything to be able to see My Lady every day?"
Edmund nodded firmly.
"Then, I’ll help you," Sarah said. "Come over there," Sarah pointed toward the secret passage’s entrance. "Early in the morning tomorrow."
"What are you going to do to help me?" asked Edmund.
"I’ll tell you tomorrow," Sarah replied. The woman smiled and intended to return Edgar’s clothes, but the man refused and lent them to Sarah. "Then, see you tomorrow, Duke Edmund."
###
The next day, Penelope Askary woke up feeling the same sadness she had felt last night.
The woman couldn’t even sleep. She kept crying and thinking about her and Edmund’s fate in the future. What must they do for them to be allowed to marry?
The sound of a knock on her bedroom door made Penelope turn her head. She sighed and massaged her temples.
"Come in," Penelope said in a tired tone. The woman frowned when she saw a maid enter pushing a trolley filled with food for her. Penelope tilted her head. "Sorry, but who are you? I’m seeing you for the first time."
The maid raised her head and smiled. She has long pink hair and beautiful blue eyes. However, Penelope could not see her face because the woman covered her face with a mask. Then, the body of the maid was much bigger and looked quite athletic compared to the bodies of the other maids in the Askary mansion.
"I am the new maid in this mansion, My Lady. I was assigned by Sarah to help her serve My Lady."
"Hmm." Penelope took a deep breath and intended to get out of bed. However, suddenly her balance was off. Penelope widened her eyes and would have fallen to the floor if the new maid didn’t catch her. Penelope blinked and felt the maid’s scent remind her of someone. The blue eyes are the same. They both reminded Penelope of Edmund Gerwyn. "Ah, I’m sorry."
"Are you all right, My Lady?" asked the maid in a panic and worried tone. "Should I call the doctor?"
"No, there’s no need," Penelope shook her head with a smile. "I’m fine. I’m just sleep-deprived." The woman frowned and covered her nose and mouth. "Sorry, but, please put away the food. I don’t want to eat it."
"Why?"
"Because I feel nauseous," Penelope replied. "I want to eat something else."
"What do you want, My Lady?" asked the maid in a firm tone. "I will look for it even if I have to go to the other end of the continent!"
Penelope snorted in amusement, then chuckled. "You really are a very good maid. Ah, before that, may I know your name?"
The maid was silent for a moment. Then, her blue eyes met Penelope’s golden eyes. Even though she was covered by a mask, Penelope knew that the maid was smiling gently at her. And, for some reason, Penelope’s heart pounded wildly because she realized that.
"Emma," answered the maid in a gentle tone. "My name is Emma, My Lady."
