Reincarnation of The Villainess: She Has The Duke's Baby!-Chapter 35: #-Signs of Pregnancy
Edmund Gerwyn looked at Penelope Askary with a doubtful look.
Even so, the man still obeyed what Penelope told him to do. The man held the knife which was still stuck in Jermel’s left chest, then glanced at Penelope who had raised her sleeve.
"Are you sure?" asked Edmund to make sure one more time.
"Yes," Penelope nodded. "As for the explanation, I will do that later. So, when you see that I’m concentrating on doing my job, I hope you’ll stay quiet and don’t talk to me."
"I’ll see how things are, Penelope," said Edmund. "If I feel that you need help or that you are in any danger, I will immediately take action. I don’t care if this person dies or not. My only priority is you."
Penelope snorted. "Let’s do it before they all come here."
Edmund nodded and immediately withdrew the knife from Jermel’s left chest. Blood spurted in the air and hit Edmund’s face as well as Penelope’s. Seeing that, Penelope immediately put her hands on Jermel’s left chest and closed her eyes. Then, from the woman’s body came a pink light. Slowly, the blood and the wound on Jermel’s left chest began to disappear.
Edmund was shocked and froze. He looked at Penelope who was concentrating. Her pretty face was sweating. At that time, when he went berserk and accidentally hurt Penelope in his mansion, Edmund did have time to think about how Penelope would calm him down. Edmund didn’t remember what Penelope was doing, but he realized Penelope was in front of his eyes when he woke up from the darkness that controlled him.
Now, Edmund knew the reason why Penelope was able to calm him down. The woman has healing powers. However, healing power alone was not enough to bring him back to normal. He’s not hurt. That means, there is another power besides the healing power possessed by Penelope. A power that could shatter the darkness within someone’s heart.
Purification power.
"My Lady!"
The scream made Edmund swear harshly and turn his head. In the distance, Philleo Aaron was running toward him and Penelope along with the Crown Prince and the others. Edmund looked at Penelope and blinked when he realized that she had finished healing Jermel. The man glanced at the wound on Jermel’s left chest and widened his eyes when he realized it was gone.
"Wouldn’t this look suspicious?" asked Edmund doubtfully. "What are you going to tell them when they see him?"
Penelope opened her eyes and wiped the sweat from her face. The woman tried to catch her breath. Using the power that is in her turns out to require a lot of mana. Her body, which was not used to doing things like this, now felt weak.
"Make up a story, whatever it is." Penelope looked at Edmund. "Because I’m going to pass out any minute."
"Huh?" Edmund immediately caught Penelope’s petite body swaying toward him. Panicked, Edmund checked Penelope’s condition and breathed a sigh of relief after knowing that she was fine.
"My Lady!" Philleo knelt before Edmund and Penelope. Then, just as the man was about to touch Penelope, Edmund jerked his hand away and looked at Philleo with a sharp gaze.
"Watch your attitude, Philleo Aaron. Penelope Askary is not a woman you can touch carelessly. She is a noblewoman."
Philleo clenched his jaw and decided to ignore Edmund’s words just now. His eyes focused on Penelope who was passed out on Edmund’s lap.
"Is Lady Penelope all right, Duke Edmund?" asked Philleo in a worried tone. Even though he hated Edmund, he couldn’t just forget that Edmund was the man who had saved Penelope’s life and had been with Penelope ever since. "Is Lady Penelope injured?"
"Ed!" This time, it was Sebastian who shouted. The Crown Prince of the De Louis empire stood near Edmund and looked at his best friend with a panicked look. "Are you and Penelope all right?"
"We’re okay. It seems Goddess Elleia saved us." Edmund looked at Philleo. "You remember that pink circle that appeared just before Penelope disappeared? The circle appeared again and saved Penelope and me." The man then stood up while carrying Penelope’s body carefully. "Edgar, check the man out. I guess Goddess Elleia also saved him. Suddenly the wound on his left chest disappeared. Do you know who threw the knife at him?"
Edgar bowed. "One of his friends that we captured for our interrogation in the imperial palace later killed him because he thought he was a traitor, Your Grace. Because he has told us about the mastermind behind the plan to assassinate the Crown Prince."
"Just kill everyone involved. We already know who planned this, right?" Edmund looked at Sebastian. "I know you have your doubts and don’t believe in all of this, but we can’t change reality. Christopher De Louis wants to kill you. Take good care of this man. Don’t let him be killed by those who think he is a traitor. I want this man to live."
"Where are you taking Penelope?" Sebastian asked. From the way the man looked at Edmund and also his tone, Edmund realized that Sebastian didn’t like it when he brought Penelope.
"Home," answered Edmund. "This matter is over, right? All you need to do is catch that uncle of yours and punish him. Or, I will kill him myself because he dared to involve my little bunny in his games."
###
The Emperor is furious.
He did not expect that his little brother, who was known to be very kind and gentle, was able to make an evil plan to kill the Crown Prince. Although at first Christopher De Louis denied the accusations when he was summoned to the palace, Jermel, who received direct protection from Edmund Gerwyn, testified before the Emperor and everyone. Eventually, the Emperor sentenced his younger brother to death and his head was to be hung in the capital’s square as an example to all. Anyone who dared to betray the De Louis empire or harm a member of the imperial family would suffer the same fate.
As Penelope promised, the woman healed Camelia. Jermel felt very happy. The man even burst into tears. Even though Jermel had testified to reveal the truth behind the plan to kill the Crown Prince, the man was still being punished for being part of the rebels. However, Penelope begged Duke Askary and Ethan Askary so that her father and older brother would speak to the Emperor and the Crown Prince. Penelope wants Jermel to be free from punishment and together with Camelia, Penelope wants them to work at the Askary mansion.
Apart from that, Penelope was also grateful that Edmund Gerwyn did not interrogate her about the power she had. However, she knew that she couldn’t let her guard down.
A week has passed since the kidnapping incident of her and Isabella Lysander, as well as the Crown Prince’s assassination plan that was successfully stopped. Penelope was enjoying sweets and tea in the back garden. However, the woman suddenly frowned. There was a scent that made her stomach feel extremely queasy. Penelope covered her mouth with one hand. Her face started to look pale and cold sweat started to appear on her pretty face.
"My lady? What is it?" Sarah asked. The woman approached Penelope along with Camelia. Camelia was hired as Penelope’s personal maid, just like Sarah. Meanwhile, Jermel was employed as a servant in the kitchen. Sometimes, Penelope would order him to practice swords with the other knights. "Are there any sweets on this table that make your stomach hurt?"
Penelope shook her head. "No, that’s not it. I—" The woman immediately made the sound of someone wanting to spit out her food. Penelope got up from the chair and ran toward her room. She didn’t even hear Sarah screaming her name in a worried tone.
After arriving at her room, Penelope headed for the bathroom. She stood in front of the mirror, where there was a basin under it that Sarah usually filled with water. Penelope waited, but the woman didn’t spit out the contents of her stomach either. She was very nauseous. Not only that, but Penelope also felt dizzy and her body started to feel weak.
"What is wrong with me?" Penelope asked in a confused tone. She came out of the bathroom and sat on the edge of the bed. "Why is it that I always feel nauseous in the morning like this since yesterday?"
Suddenly, Edmund’s image appeared in Penelope’s head. The woman gasped and froze. Edmund, who appeared in her head, seemed to be smiling warmly at her. It made Penelope’s heart beat fast.
"Why am I suddenly imagining that damn Duke?" Penelope muttered annoyingly. It was then, Penelope’s eyes accidentally landed on the calendar that was on the table. One of the dates is circled in red. Penelope’s eyes widened. She rose from her seat and grabbed the calendar. Then, Penelope took the diary that was in the drawer. It was the original Penelope Askary’s diary. There, important dates are recorded, including the date the woman will get her period.
"Why... I haven’t gotten my period this month yet?"
The question immediately found an answer when Penelope thought about Edmund. However, this time she imagined Edmund in bed and naked. Now, Penelope’s legs felt weak. The woman fell to her knees on the floor. Her body was trembling violently, as well as her hand that was currently raised to cover her mouth.
She hasn’t had her period this month, had morning sickness since yesterday, waking up naked on the bed with Edmund Gerwyn... all of that was enough evidence for Penelope that she was most likely... pregnant with Edmund Gerwyn’s child at the moment!
"Dammit!" Penelope growled and rubbed her face with both hands. The woman started to panic. Especially when she recalled Edmund Gerwyn’s threatening words at that time. Penelope bit her thumb and fell into deep thought. "I have to get away from this empire. I have to run away from Edmund Gerwyn. The man must not know that I am pregnant with his child. I won’t let my child be sad knowing that it parents don’t love each other and that it future father will kill it mother!"
