The birth of the twins, Raven and Ocean Gerwyn, brought happiness to the people of the De Louis empire.

Even though Edmund Gerwyn was known as the cruelest and cold-blooded Duke, a bloodthirsty man on the battlefield, he was the man who brought victory and prosperity to all of them. They can eat and sleep in peace without having to fear and think about war. Because of that, the people in the empire held a week-long festival with great happiness.

Meanwhile, all the nobles come to Gerwyn’s mansion to congratulate Raven Gerwyn and Ocean Gerwyn. They brought lots of luxurious gifts for the twins. All the nobles were very fascinated by the twins’ handsomeness and beauty, especially their eyes. The twins have two eye colors. Raven Gerwyn has a golden eye on the left and a blue eye on the right. Meanwhile, Ocean Gerwyn has golden eyes on the right and blue eyes on the left.

"Your Highness the Emperor and Her Highness the Empress have arrived."

The notification made all the nobles bow toward the two imperial lords of De Louis. Penelope Askary, who was holding Ocean, smiled and looked down. Meanwhile, Edmund Gerwyn, who was holding Raven, just nodded. He never bowed or kneel to anyone, not even the Emperor and the Empress. The only people who have ever managed to get him to do that to the point of bringing him to his knees are Penelope Askary and her family.

"Congratulations on the birth of the twins, Duke Edmund, Duchess Penelope," said the Emperor in a gentle tone with a big smile. The Empress also smiled and nodded. The Emperor then caressed the twins’ cheeks in turn. "Hopefully, Goddess Elleia will always provide her light and protection, as well as happiness, for the twins."

"Thank you, Your Highness," replied Edmund and Penelope together. They blinked and stared at each other as the Emperor’s forefinger was firmly grasped by Raven’s and Ocean’s tiny hands. The Emperor blinked too and laughed happily at the Empress, who looked amazed and awed.

"Look at this, Empress. The Duke and Duchess’s children seem to like me. Maybe they think of me as their grandfather."

"You are technically their grandfather, Your Highness," said Edmund. The man cleared his throat and looked away. "You took care of me and protected me all this time when I lost my parents. You already think of me as your own biological child. If I had children, I would definitely introduce you as their grandfather."

Hearing that, the Emperor became moved. The old man, who was still handsome for his age, ruffled Edmund’s hair, making Edmund groan, and forced him to let his hair fall apart because of the Emperor’s actions. Edmund pouted while Penelope smiled amusedly.

"Thank you for allowing me to become a grandfather before I left this world." The Emperor looked at the twins, who smiled broadly at him. "I really look forward to my grandchildren, my successor, and Sebastian’s in the future. But, all that son of mine was doing was asking for trouble. He even wanted two wives at once and targeted Duchess Penelope to become his Empress later. I don’t even know what to do with him."

Seeing the sad expression on the Emperor’s face made Penelope feel pity. The woman took the Emperor’s hand and gripped it tightly.

"Your Highness, I believe the Crown Prince will definitely change. I will pray to Goddess Elleia that he will open the Crown Prince’s heart and make him the good man he used to be."

The Emperor is silent. The man put his hand on Penelope’s head. "You really are a very good woman, Duchess. I’m sorry that my son had to hurt you in the past and now wants to take you away from Duke Edmund. I will use all my might and power to turn my son away from you and your family." The emperor looked at Edmund. "I will also keep all my promises to you, Duke. I will not accept Isabella Lysander as the spouse of Sebastian De Louis. But, Marquess Lysander had great ambitions to make his daughter the Crown Princess. I had a hard time turning it down. I don’t know what else to do."

"Your Highness, my wife and I have slight suspicions of Marquess Lysander. If you permit us, may we investigate that man?"

"Oh?" The Emperor raised one eyebrow.

"We suspect that he tortured Isabella Lysander, Your Highness," Penelope said in a stern tone. "But, we have no proof. The only proof we have is Isabella’s behavior when dealing with Marquess Lysander. Isabella will tremble with fear and dare not look him in the eye."

"Hmm." The Emperor rubbed his chin. "Did Marquess Lysander want power by making his daughter the Crown Princess? What is he planning?"

"That is what we will investigate, Your Highness," said Edmund. "Would Your Highness allow us to investigate this matter?"

"Of course," nodded the Emperor. "If you guys need the empire’s help, feel free to tell me. I will also keep an eye on the Crown Prince so he doesn’t interfere. So far, he’s been very good. He served his sentence well and I will finish his sentence soon. You and the Duchess don’t mind that, right?"

Penelope was silent. There are still four months left before Sebastian’s sentence ends. However, the Emperor, who believed the Crown Prince had changed because of the punishment, decided to end his punishment. How could Penelope refuse? The woman smiled slightly and nodded.

Noticing the anxiety and doubt on Penelope Askary’s pretty face, Emperor De Louis smiled gently and stroked the Duchess’ head.

The Empress nodded. "I’m sorry that I couldn’t raise and educate my son properly, Duchess."

Penelope and Edmund looked at each other and smiled. After saying their goodbyes, the Emperor and Empress returned to the palace. The Duke and Duchess were grateful to the Emperor because they didn’t tell the secret about Penelope’s power to the people in the empire.

Raven and Ocean’s laughter made Edmund smile happily.

Ever since the twins were born, Edmund felt his days were so pleasant and the mansion felt much warmer than before. He also always wanted to finish his work as soon as possible so he could meet and play with Raven and Ocean. Ocean’s beauty makes Edmund worry that his daughter will be approached by stupid and jerk men in the empire. Because of that, Edmund swore he would not let Ocean get close to any man in this empire. He will also train Raven so that his son becomes a strong man, who will protect Ocean from the dangers called men!

Edmund opened the living room door and froze. He blinked when he saw how happy and laughing Ocean Gerwyn was in Edgar’s arms.

"Aw! Duchess, Princess Ocean is absolutely beautiful and adorable. Thank you for giving me permission and a golden opportunity for me to hold Princess Ocean. I will not forget this incident even when I die," said Edgar exaggeratedly. "Duchess, have you seen the Princess’ cheeks? Her cheeks were so chubby, white, and smooth. Very similar to foam or cake! I want to bite it when I see them."

Penelope laughed and shook her head in amusement. She was hanging out with the twins, Sarah, and Edgar. In Sarah’s arms, Raven Gerwyn looked sullen as he glanced at Edgar playing with his twin sister.

"Duchess, look at Prince Raven’s face," Sarah said in an amused tone. "He looked at Sir Edgar with disapproval! Prince Raven doesn’t seem to like seeing Princess Ocean close to anyone other than him."

Penelope snorted in amusement and massaged her temples. "I already knew Edmund would pass on strange traits to my son. Like Father, like Son. Raven will definitely grow into a man, who is possessive and overprotective of Ocean."

"Duchess, may I kiss Princess Ocean on the cheek?"

"Of course. You are—ah."

Penelope didn’t finish her words and grimaced at Edgar while scratching her cheek. Sarah stifled a laugh and looked away. Meanwhile, Edgar tilted his head in confusion at the current reaction of his Duchess and Sarah.

"Duchess? Sarah? What’s wrong with the both of you?"

"I was also wondering what’s wrong with you right now, Edgar."

The whisper made Edgar straighten his back and freeze. The man gulped and slowly turned his head around. He forced a smile and his heart was pounding really hard. Since when was Edmund Gerwyn standing behind him?! And, those eyes... the Duke’s eyes really looked hideous as if the Duke wanted to kill him just by looking at him!

"Go—good afternoon, Duke. Is your work done? Would you like some lunch?" asked Edgar in a choked tone. The man laughed awkwardly and glanced at Ocean Gerwyn, who was laughing in his arms. The baby girl even stretched her tiny hand to Edgar’s cheek and stroked it. Edgar wanted to cry because he realized that Edmund’s gaze was getting sharper.

’Princess Ocean, please don’t show Duke Edmund that you like me a lot. Your Father is going to kill me in a minute!’ shouted Edgar in his heart.

"Hey, Edgar," said Edmund in a sharp tone. "Keep your hands off my daughter! Don’t you need your hands anymore, hm? How dare you hold my daughter and be lovey-dovey with my daughter! Looks like you have no intention of living in this world anymore, huh?"

"Ed." Penelope shook her head and took a deep breath. She stood up from the couch and hugged Edmund’s arm, who was snorting. "Don’t scold Sir Edgar like that. What’s wrong with Sir Edgar holding Ocean? Besides, your daughter looks happy to be in Sir Edgar’s arms. Stop being such a possessive Dad or Ocean will hate you in the future, Ed."

Edmund clicked his tongue in annoyance and brushed his hair back. "Penny, Honey, you don’t know that all men are very dangerous creatures. I just don’t want Ocean to be tricked by them."

"You’re a man too," Penelope chuckled.

"I am different. I’m the Father! I can’t possibly harm my own daughter!" Edmund looked at Edgar and held out both hands. "Give me back my daughter! If I find out and see you getting close to her again, even holding her like this, I will punish you."

Edgar handed Ocean carefully to Edmund while showing a pitiful expression. Seeing Edgar’s expression, Ocean blinked and the baby girl started crying loudly. In Edmund’s arms, Ocean struggled.

"It seems Ocean really likes Sir Edgar and she is mad at you because you separated her from Sir Edgar." Penelope grinned.

"That’s not possible." Edmund smiled at Ocean. "Sst... Ocean is Daddy’s daughter, right? A beautiful child. You don’t have to worry about Edgar. You just need Daddy, right?"

Ocean’s answer was given right that second. The baby girl kicked and hit Edmund in the face with her tiny hands and feet. This made Edmund blink and Penelope laughed out loud.
