Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master-Chapter 1527: A Fierce Fight Against the Fox!
Against darkness, light and lightning were unstoppable! The two elements kept eating through the shadows like wildfire, consuming dry weeds.
At first, the formations had worked to slowly absorb the spirit power from the world, refine it into the concentrated light and lightning elements, and then diffuse them into the core.
It had been a grinding, slow process; without the unintentional distraction of the Fox clones earlier, William would have ended up with far less territory than he initially secured.
However, now that he was actively directing the flow, the situation changed with blistering speed. His scattered islands of dominance began to expand, reaching out toward one another. To do this, William adopted a tentacle approach, a strategic weaving of spirit energy.
He didn’t aim for a massive, brute-force expansion of every area at once, as that would have thinned his power and taken far too much time. Instead, he forced long, concentrated tentacles of lightning and light from each zone, threading them toward neighbouring areas.
His goal was to divide the Fox’s darkness into a grand, shattered web. Once the darkness was entrapped and isolated within these glowing boundaries, he intended to slowly dissolve the darkness pockets, taking over the core in a much faster and more efficient manner.
"As I expected, you are already here!" William muttered.
Just as he finished linking several major areas together, he noticed a change. At certain junctions, his tentacles were suddenly facing a wall of strong resistance. When he projected his consciousness to inspect these friction points, he realised the problem wasn’t that the darkness had suddenly evolved a resistance to its natural nemesis.
Instead, there was a sudden, violent gush of darkness element from an external source, a transfusion that kept replenishing the darkness as fast as William’s light could burn them away.
Seeing this didn’t cause William a moment of worry. Instead, it sparked a deep sense of satisfaction. He knew that no matter the scale of the Fox’s effort, the fundamental laws of the universe would always prevail: darkness was destined to lose against the combined might of light and lightning. It was an elemental certainty.
He didn’t bother wasting his energy on Fox’s useless localised attempts at defence. Under other circumstances, William might have been tempted to engage in a long war of attrition, perhaps hoping to deplete the Fox’s global reserves of spirit power. But he was acutely aware that a war of attrition right now was a losing game for him.
His body on the surface was vulnerable, his guild was under siege, and his enemy was surely sending lots of deadly reinforcements towards here. He had to strike hard, and he had to end this clash fast.
Leaving the Fox to waste its efforts defending a few specific regions, William pivoted his focus to coalesce and take over the rest of the world’s core. The Fox tried to mirror his movements, but its counter-attacks were hasty and unrefined, lacking the organisation and strength of William’s network.
William had spent weeks meticulously laying the formations on the surface, essentially building a specialised weapon for this exact moment. He was more prepared.
When the Fox tried to mount a defence in other regions, the most it could manage was a weak, fluttering resistance. While the Fox focused on one area, it lost every other confrontation across the vast remainder of the core.
In a twist of irony, the areas where the Fox tried to dig in and lost were actually consumed faster. William’s two elements surged with such ferocity that the Fox’s stubbornness acted like a lightning rod, drawing in more of William’s power and ending in a total collapse of the darkness in those zones. William couldn’t help but inwardly sneer.
"You won’t learn... Your arrogance is your deadliest weakness," he thought, inwardly laughing at the futile attempts. In less than a single day of active combat, William had managed to seize control of eighty percent of the entire core!
Yet, the remaining twenty percent proved to be a true nightmare.
The Fox was relentless, its stubbornness manifesting as a dense, impenetrable knot of darkness. Even when William attacked with an endless stream of spirit elements, powered by the vast reservoir of the world’s spirit power, the Fox put up a masterful fight.
Every single percentage point gained from this point forward took hours of fierce, exhausting clashes. The combat was a constant back-and-forth, a spiritual tug-of-war where inches were bought with gallons of sweat and spirit. By the time William controlled ninety-five percent of the core, three full days had passed on the surface.
"I can tell you are trying your best to delay me," William said, his spiritual voice echoing through the five percent of darkness that remained. He knew exactly what the Fox was aiming for: it was trying to hold a small tether long enough for the special reinforcements the Fox sent would arrive in this world.
And yet, William knew he didn’t need to control the remaining five percent right away to kill this scheme in the heart. He had another way to do it.
"And yet, let me show you why I kept doing nothing but taking more areas from here until now... It’s time to shut your access to the Medium World surface!"
William tried many times before, but failed to do this step. He knew he still didn’t fully control the entire core, but at least he could shut down the Fox’s access to the surface of this world. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
The Fox would still keep the link with the core, but he would lose any access to the gates and the monsters, and would fail to send anything or anyone up there anymore!
To do so, William had to control ninety-five percent of the entire core. Since he controlled over fifty percent, he kept trying to do so, yet failed. Every extra five percent gained, he tried, and finally he succeeded once he reached the ninety-five threshold.
There was no change at the core level, but at the surface, things changed drastically.
