Reincarnation Of The Legendary Sword Saint-Chapter 55: It Been Decided
Their power comes from a different system, divided into aspects.
Paladin Knights... monsters wrapped in steel.
One of the paladins stepped back. He planted his foot into the stone floor and pulled his sword behind him.
Mana surged. A heavy breath escaped through his helmet, steam spilling from the gaps.
With a roar, he swung. The blade came down with overwhelming force.
Rowan blocked it, but this time he slid back half a step.
The stone beneath his feet cracked.
Rowan’s eyes opened slowly. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Rowan exhaled slowly.
"I’ll be honest with you," he said calmly. "You’re strong. Strong enough to earn respect."
The two Paladin Knights remained silent, standing like statues in their heavy armor.
"But I’m not here to talk," Rowan continued, raising his sword. "I’m here to take your heads."
He leapt forward.
Steel screamed as all three moved at once.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Rowan’s sword collided with theirs in rapid succession. The paladins countered immediately, their movements sharp and disciplined, blades striking from both sides.
"Faster," Rowan muttered.
His speed increased. The sound of metal striking metal blurred into a continuous roar. Rowan pressed forward relentlessly, forcing the paladins to retreat step by step.
What the hell? One of them gritted his teeth. He’s overpowering us with speed alone.
Their arms trembled as they blocked again.
Our swords... they’re weakening.
The other paladin stared at Rowan in disbelief.
This is a child. A kid.
And he’s using a common sword.
Their own weapons were forged from the heaviest reinforced metals, blades meant to endure countless battles—yet cracks were already forming.
One paladin shoved Rowan back with brute force.
Rowan slid across the stone floor, boots scraping. He clenched his jaw, then slowly exhaled.
"...I almost lost my temper," he said quietly. "How absurd."
He lifted his gaze.
"You’re pushing me back only because this body lacks weight."
His eyes sharpened.
"That ends now."
Rowan vanished.
The paladins lunged forward at the same time, swinging their swords down in perfect synchronization.
Clang!
Rowan blocked both blades simultaneously. This time, he pushed back. The paladins were sent skidding across the floor.
Before they could recover—
Slash.
Slash.
Slash.
Rowan’s blade moved like a storm.
One paladin attempted a counter from the right—
Rowan struck the side of his sword.
Crack. The blade shattered.
Before the knight could react, Rowan drove forward, gripping him by the chest. The impact dented the heavy armor inward. Metal cracked. Blood spilled from beneath the plates.
The knight choked, gasping.
Rowan released him and shifted instantly. The second paladin charged, swinging with everything he had.
Rowan blocked once. Then he stopped attacking. Instead, he dodged.
No steps. No wasted motion. Only his upper body shifted, every strike missing by a hair’s breadth.
Then Rowan raised his sword and thrust it forward. The blade pierced through the paladin’s armor. The knight screamed, clutching his waist as Rowan pulled the sword free.
Rowan stepped back, calm and expressionless.
"I’ve been toying with you," he said. "Playtime is over."
Immediately, both Paladin Knights stood upright, exchanging a nod. The one whose sword had broken reached behind his back and drew another, suspended by stilts.
Golden energy suddenly burst from their bodies, flowing through their armor and weapons. The light was blinding, their entire forms glowing with a radiant gold aura.
"Well, I didn’t expect you to push me this far," one of the Paladin Knights said. "Prepare to die, child. You haven’t seen anything yet."
"Oh really?" Rowan replied calmly, his eyes sharp. "All this time you didn’t speak, and now, after being utterly defeated, you choose to? Like I said, I’ve been toying with you from the start. I could have ended this fight long ago—I just wanted a little fun first."
Moonbeam clenched his fist, trying to grab Elian. But as he reached toward her, a shimmering shield erupted around her.
Rowan’s sword cut a swift path, deflecting the Paladin Knights’ assault. The shield held, and Elian slowly opened her eyes, meeting Rowan’s gaze.
"He’s truly strong," she thought. "To face Paladin Knights like this... his skill with a sword, his control over mana—it’s absurd. He’s extraordinary... far beyond me."
Her hands and legs were still bound, the ropes tight, but she felt a flicker of hope.
"The man who killed my friends is here... standing right in front of me," she whispered to herself, trembling slightly. "I don’t want to use my skills. I’m afraid... afraid of failing. Seven years ago, I lost everything, all my friends..."
She clenched her eyes shut, taking a deep breath.
"I never knew... all this time, you kept everything to yourself," she murmured, thinking of Rowan. "You never showed your pain, your fatigue... yet you carried it all and became this strong."
Her gaze hardened.
"The man who killed my friends... he’s here, and I can’t even do anything. I have to face him. I can’t lift a finger."
The two Paladin Knights, golden energy blazing around them, lunged at Rowan simultaneously. He met their attacks head-on, blades clashing with sparks flying.
"Master!" Elian gasped, her voice trembling as Rowan pushed the two back with a single, precise swing of his sword.
As Rowan’s strike hit, icy shards formed around Elian. The ice struck the ropes binding her wrists and ankles, cutting through the restraints. The barrier Rowan had created shimmered once, then vanished.
"Now get up and fight so you can finally be at peace, knowing you got revenge for your loved ones who were killed by this bastard," Rowan shouted.
Elian’s eyes opened fully, tears rolling down her cheeks as she gasped.
"You were right," she whispered, feeling the freedom return.
Moonbeam stepped back, wide-eyed, muttering to himself, "What the hell is happening? I... I still don’t understand..."
Rowan smiled as he looked at Elian standing up. She wouldn’t be able to win... not yet. But she wouldn’t find peace until she challenged him and finally got her revenge, Rowan thought, watching her.
"You’re distracted," one of the Paladin Knights said, moving forward to slash at Rowan.
