Reincarnation Of The Legendary Sword Saint-Chapter 51: Siege Appearance
But that wasn’t the whole truth.
There was another debt, a far greater one.
Her father had known exactly what Aldwin wanted: to keep her close, hidden, and protected. As long as she stayed here, deep in the forest, she would be safe if those people ever came searching for her.
Her power was no ordinary talent. It was high-level, dangerous even. Anyone capable of sensing mana could detect it from an incredible distance.
Rowan’s shoulders felt heavy.
So that’s why... he realized.
That was why they lived here.
That was why Elian never left.
That was why she feared losing control.
Now it all made sense.
"...That’s it," Rowan murmured quietly.
He exhaled, then turned and stepped inside the house.
As Rowan entered the house, he noticed his father and mother whispering softly. Their conversation stopped the moment they saw him.
"Son," Aldwin said gently, "there’s something we need to tell you."
Mira stepped forward, resting a hand on her stomach. She smiled, though exhaustion showed on her face.
"I’m pregnant," she said.
Rowan paused for a moment, then smiled.
"Are you happy?" Mira asked softly. "You’ll finally have a younger sibling."
"A sibling..." Rowan murmured, letting the thought sink in.
In his previous world, he had never experienced something like this. From the moment he was born, he had been labeled the next Sword Saint. His father, the Sword Saint of that era, never allowed him a normal childhood. While other children played, Rowan was dragged away to train. While siblings laughed together, he was isolated.
Jealousy surrounded him, especially from his male siblings. There could only be one Sword Saint in that world.
But this world was different.
Here, blessings were common. Power was shared. And for the first time since his reincarnation, Rowan felt that he might actually live a normal life.
Mira suddenly winced.
Aldwin moved quickly. "That’s enough talking. We’re leaving now."
"Has the labor started?" Rowan asked.
"I don’t know," Aldwin replied. "It’s too early, but this pain isn’t normal. We’re going to the city."
He placed a hand on Rowan’s shoulder. "Stay inside. Lock the doors. Don’t leave the house."
Rowan nodded.
Mira knelt slightly and hugged him, trembling.
"Don’t worry, son," she said softly. "I’ll be fine."
"Yes, Mom," Rowan replied.
Aldwin prepared the wooden carriage behind the house and helped Mira inside. The horse was secured, and the reins tightened.
"Go inside, Rowan!" Aldwin called.
Rowan watched from the doorway as the carriage rolled forward, then turned and ran upstairs to his room.
He reached his room and threw open the window.
The carriage was already moving through the forest path.
He picked up his sword. Without a sound, he slashed the air.
A thin, green energy rippled outward from the blade, invisible to all who watched below. It expanded, forming a dense protective barrier around the carriage and Mira. None of them noticed the subtle yet powerful green shield enveloping them.
They’ll be safe, Rowan thought calmly. Nothing will pierce this.
And if anything goes wrong... I’ll know.
He lowered the sword, closed his window, and sat on his bed.
"It’s time to rest," Rowan murmured.
As Rowan rested his head against the bed, staring at the ceiling, he felt it.
He thought to himself, Well, it looks like the idea worked... now they should be safe. He hadn’t realized his mother was pregnant. If Elian passes by, how did this happen so suddenly?
He wasn’t even feeling sleepy. What should I do with this time? Should I go check on Elian? He shook his head. So far, everything seemed calm today. Elian had lost control during their sparring, and she was clearly upset with herself for going all out.
Rowan slowly got out of bed and made his way downstairs to the kitchen. Ah, I’m starving, he muttered. He saw his food neatly laid out on his personal plates and realized Elian had already been there.
Rowan sat at the table, beginning to eat his food. He wondered if Elian had eaten yet. Well, she’s probably fine, he thought.
He moved some of his food aside. Once he finished eating, he placed a hand on his stomach. I’m really stuffed. That was actually really tasty.
Now that his parents were gone, what should he do? Should he go out? Maybe for some training, even if it was late. The moon was out.
Apart from that, for some reason, he had been feeling a strange sensation since their sparring earlier. He didn’t know why. Well, everything should be fine... or maybe I’m just overthinking things, he thought.
Without saying anything, he stood up from the dining chair and walked toward the library.
There were still many things in this world Rowan didn’t know. All he could do was keep studying, learning about magic, about the world itself, and even about things like friends and everyday life. He wanted to experience all of it.
Rowan picked up a book and began reading. After a while, he stretched his arms, feeling sleepy again. Then he felt it, a strange sensation. An unstable flow of mana, faint but unsettling.
Something isn’t right, he thought. Just like earlier... should I go out and check?
He paused, sensing it carefully. The instability was there, but nothing immediate seemed to be happening near the house.
Well, as long as nothing happens here... if something’s attacking somewhere else, it’s not my problem, he thought calmly.
Rowan closed the book, placed it back on the shelf, and headed to his room. He lay down on his bed and slowly closed his eyes, trying to rest, though the uneasy feeling still lingered in the back of his mind.
A sudden pressure.
His eyes sharpened.
A massive horde of monsters was moving through the forest.
The world itself seemed to tremble, waves of savage intent rolling through the mana around him. Thick, violent, overwhelming.
Rowan sprang to his feet and grabbed his sword.
"What the hell is going on...?" he muttered.
This wasn’t normal.
All that training... it left a trail, and now they’ve come and drawn monsters.
