Reincarnated With An SSS-Rank Talent In An Apocalyptic World-Chapter 60: Adam Vs The Mourning Wretch
Chapter 60: Adam Vs The Mourning Wretch
"A human..." the Mourning Wretch hissed.
Its voice was laced with disbelief. If it wasn’t for the corpse beside me and the gargoyles standing guard behind me, it wouldn’t have believed me.
"Now, it’s my turn to ask questions," I said in a calm yet confident tone that made the despairing soldiers look up.
They gazed at me intently as if I was speaking to them. Meanwhile, the dark entity only frowned in response to my words but said nothing.
I believed proving I killed Lord Ravus had earned me the right to question it.
That’s right, might makes right!
As long as I’m strong enough, not only will these dark entities take me seriously—the heavens will have to pay attention to me as well.
"HOW DARE YOU STEP FOOT INTO THE LAND THIS GOD HAS SWORN TO PROTECT?!" I snarled, and my pitch-black eyes revealed a burning crimson light!
Buzz!
While the soldiers were shaken by my words, the Mourning Wretch reacted differently. In one move, it shot back 20 meters, creating more space between us, while its eye glared at me with utmost caution!
This monster felt my killing intent and responded accordingly!
This was a sign it dared not fuck with me recklessly until it found out what I was truly capable of!
The soldiers turned, shocked to see the once-invincible Mourning Wretch standing farther away with a cautious gaze.
Ding!

’Scout?’ My eyes narrowed.
Doesn’t that mean this dark entity didn’t come here on its own accord?
Was it sent to find out if Lord Ravus was still alive?
If they find out he is gone, what happens next?
My eyes narrowed, steeled with resolve as I knew what needed to be done. I looked ahead, and the Mourning Wretch was still observing me, skeptical. It seemed like it wasn’t willing to leave this place without gauging my strength for itself. But it also understood trying to gauge my strength would mean death.
But then again, would a scout be sent without any form of protection?
Were they planning to use its death to determine if Lord Ravus was truly alive or dead?
There were so many unknowns, I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable with the current situation.
Regardless, my Berserk skill and Blood Thrall skill had a 3-minute timer. Everything I needed to do must fall under that time or everything is lost.
’Hesitation kills. Whether or not they have a plan, you just have to power through it! That is why you brought six Boneward Guardians along!’ I reminded myself.
[Berserk Mode Activated]

Buzz!
The soldiers’ eyes widened in shock as they saw black fumes escaping all parts of my skin.
"Return to your homes where it’s safe. This will be over in a minute!" I declared decisively!
For a moment there was silence as they exchanged surprised glances. They clearly didn’t think the man who killed Lord Ravus would openly decide to protect them all of a sudden.
But a few seconds later, their brains seemed to process my words and their eyes lit up with shock and excitement.
"Y-YES MY LORD!" they screamed in unison as they scrambled to their feet, leaving behind their weapons and shields as they ran past me.
I could feel the gaze of tens of thousands on me, eager to see what the man who killed Lord Ravus was capable of.
"Go!" I ordered, and my stone gargoyles made their move!
All six shot forward with immense speed, charging towards the Mourning Wretch, who hissed in response.
Bam!
I watched the dark entity retreat hastily, shooting back in a zigzag motion as all six gargoyles chased after it. For a monster with a fragile frame, the Mourning Wretch was slippery!
I watched it duck under the claw slash of the first gargoyle, before propelling itself to the left just in the nick of time as the second gargoyle rammed into the first.
The third and fourth swooped down at once, diving at it with malicious intent, but as soon as they struck the ground, it had already shot into the air, leaving it open for the last two gargoyles—or so I thought.
With those half-baked limbs, the Mourning Wretch spiraled through the small crack between the last two gargoyles, shooting directly for me.
There was a speed difference of 3 points between it and my gargoyles, yet they couldn’t touch it.
[+30 HP]
"Rise, Ravus!" I ordered.
[Blood Pact Activated]
[-20 HP]
Bang!
The rocky shell surrounding Lord Ravus’s body exploded, and his eyes revealed a bloody light!
"What?!" The Mourning Wretch abruptly halted its advance, spooked by Lord Ravus’s resurrection—and that was all I needed.
[Door activated!]
Two spatial doors tore open at once. One behind me and the other behind the dark entity. Taking advantage of its hesitation, I simply reached into the space behind me and my hand emerged behind it, grabbing the dark beast by its shoulder and pulling it out through my gate!
Bang!
The Mourning Wretch struck the ground hard, and its fall was accompanied by loud gasps. It quickly tried to rise, but I pushed it down with my knee, grabbing it by the neck and slamming it to the ground hard.
Bam!
This dark beast only had exceptional speed. Its 15 strength points could not match my 18 strength points.
Ka! Ka! Ka!
Bone-cracking sounds rocked the air as it tried to move its hands, but my gargoyles pulled up before they could reach me, yanking its hands off its body with one vicious pull!
Pfft!
Black blood squirted out of its wounds, but the Mourning Wretch made no sound. Instead, its mouth yanked open, and the stench of decay invaded my nose, causing me to squint in disgust.
Ding!
