Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire-Chapter 271: Easier to replace than to convince
FROM WHISPER'S PERSPECTIVE, THIS SCENE WAS MUCH LESS MYSTERIOUS AND PROFOUND.
But she was still proud of herself immensely. Farini was latching onto her every word! He had his doubts, but considered the very idea of doubting to be wrong. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
'Isn't he such a good human?' Whisper messaged other Agents working in the city.
'Ah, bragging before the victory is yours? This is so much like you, Whisper!' another Agent replied. 'Wait a little until you brag to your fullest, eh?'
'Yeah, don't you have work to do?'
'Did you decide that since you got yourself such a good human, you can just laze around all day long?'
Whisper huffed and shook her head, even though her sisters couldn't see it. She wanted to throw something back at them… but they were right.
She still had a job to do.
It was incredibly important for Farini to succeed both with fixing up his province and with rebelling against the High King. This was a major reason Whisper was given so much authority.
The news was recent, brought all the way from the country's capital city with an Agent who hitched a ride on a human messenger traveling to Lower Grazahmich.
The essence of the Agent's message was that the High King proved to be extremely resistant to the bees' influence. He was too stubborn, too arrogant and too egotistical!
He had almost no respect for the gods, and believed that he had no problems he couldn't deal with by himself!
That was convinced that any voice in his head, except for ones he totally agreed with, could only belong to evil spirits that wanted his downfall. He even brought priests to exorcise the bees after they first tried to speak with him.
The Agents in the capital city concluded it was easier to replace the High King outright than to control him. But his direct heirs were just like that.
It'd be much more convenient if an already loyal person took the throne. Which was the Agents' new job.
Whisper already got the orders from the Hive Supremo itself. Father approved!
With a start, Whisper realized she got terribly distracted and almost missed what Farini was thinking.
'…The young lord ma Ruchish is going to bring his armies upon us within days. Although, thanks to the breather we had earlier, our own armies fortified better than before, our victory is still not guaranteed. And with the wrath of the High King, people will be even more reluctant to sell me food than before… Without food, our army definitely won't win.'
Whisper smirked. She didn't know much about economics, but in his endless wisdom, Father foresaw that Farini would need help with these things. And of course, he sent solutions.
'Your fields don't have plants, but you still have forests that are full of meat. Order your people to hunt everything that can be eaten, and you will have plenty of food until the next harvest.'
Farini opened and closed his mouth.
'But… but if we kill all the game in our forests, there will be nothing left to hunt next year!'
'Oh, you shouldn't worry about killing all beasts. You should worry about *not* killing them,' Whisper replied, perfectly quoting Father's message. Then she switched to a more "divine" tone. 'If you leave them be, they will grow and evolve, just like illnesses. Then they will start attacking humans… This is the new law of nature.'
Farini was stunned to hear this, but he slowly nodded in acceptance.
'As for the enemy armies, divine knowledge will guide you and your generals. They will strike where the enemy expects the least, and enemy leaders will fall dead, struck by us.'
Farini nodded again, deeper this time.
'Thank you, holy Whisper. You have opened a path for me.'
Whisper nodded sagely, although Farini wasn't even looking at her. She probably deserved to be a Sergeant at this point. Or even a Lieutenant…
***
Farini dutifully did everything as Whisper instructed, while Whisper coordinated her sisters' actions.
The news of Farini's open and true rebellion created more opposition in his court, which Whisper's sisters had to identify so Farini won't be stabbed in the back. They also had to help in the war, as Whisper promised.
But there were plenty of Agents now. Several more broods have joined Agents that were slowly but steadily spreading their reach over the country.
Eventually, there was going to be a line of telepathic messengers going all the way to the capital city, because Father wanted it to be.
The only problem was that if an Agent got sick, they had to heal on their own and only consult Physicians over the telepathic chain. And plenty of agents got sick. Even Whisper, though, she got over her little cold in no time.
Just like humans got sick. Even Farini.
Five days after his return, right after he announced a law that let every commoner hunt in protected forests as much as they wanted, and after he promised generous payment to all the (educated and true!) healers willing to work for him, he got sick.
Now *that* made Whisper worry.
She listened to what human physicians told Farini first, but they acted nothing like bee physicians. They weren't even wearing masks over their faces.
Whisper knew nothing about human medicine, though. Maybe it worked for humans. They wouldn't have kept their physicians if it didn't, right?
They gave Farini some foul-smelling cures and told him to rest a lot. At least this sounded right.
Still, Whisper couldn't calm down. Especially when she saw that Farini, ignoring the advice of his healers, got out of bed and returned to work—reading reports and even meeting with his subordinates!
Which was understandable. Whisper knew better than anyone how much Farini had to do.
'Sisters,' she asked telepathically. 'My human is sick, but he has no time to rest. I request a consultation with our Physicians on his behalf. Surely, they are more knowledgeable than human ones!'
'Of course, Whisper! It would be a catastrophe to our plans for Farini to die like this. We will ask the Hive Supremo immediately!'
