Reincarnated Lord: I Conquered Fate With My Harem-Chapter 50: I Will Tell You My Own Story
Without thinking twice, I spun with my sword held at an akin stance, creating a circular barrage of frost energies that struck outward, connecting with the reflection of the electric energies.
*Crack*
They collided, and both energies vanished.
The third voice took over.
"This boy traveled next to a Lake to cool the chaos that had formed within his person. His journey had cost him fortunes and loss of strength, but he later arrived at this sacred water."
Beneath the ground, a massive vortex of water began to form, swirling torrents within itself.
"Really? You are going to use my power against me now?" I asked, spreading my hands outwards to engage the attack.
The voice continued.
"The sacred water didn’t welcome him. It didn’t acknowledge his brevity. It didn’t try to soothe the chaos that had formed in his mind. Instead, it pulled his emotions from his chest like a tide withdrawing to sea."
At those words, I felt the tidal waves from the water creating an immense force that could pull someone as far as a thousand meters distance close.
But even before getting affected by this attack, I had activated my Thalassic Monarch title.
"I am the ruler of the sea!"
The king-like structure that had appeared behind my shadow struck its staff on an imaginary ground.
The force created by the swirling tide was annulled.
Beams, created by rays of floating motes of light, spread across the arena, and within the blink of an eye, the ground returned to its former appearance, made up of seven colorful slabs left only for a rising flood of water.
"Rage and grief..." The third voice stopped, seeing that the force created by its attack had been annulled.
The next voice wanted to continue but was interrupted by the attack I had sent by creating frost arrows from the water and sending them across all corners of the sky-ceiling above.
"You might be invisible to the eyes now, but I’m sure you all are etched somewhere above," I mentioned, returning my outstretched hands to a compact form.
There was a moment of silence.
"..."
"..."
It stretched longer than expected, leaving me to land back on the ground, which was free from the electric energies.
"IT WAS STILL MY TURN TO TELL YOU STORIES!" the voices boomed.
"Did I interrupt your stories? No. It isn’t my turn yet, and I believe very much in waiting for turns," I replied with a calm tone.
Another silence.
Then the next voice took its turn.
"Confused, this pitiful boy wandered and found himself in a tomb."
"HE WANDERED INTO THE GOLEM’S TOMB!"
"There, he seized the Earth Stone, gaining strength no mortal should possess."
The slab, which represented earth on the ground, rose, splattering into large debris of stone.
The walls around cracked, and domes of stone shot outward, readying themselves for attack.
"But with that strength came heaviness. Inability to control. The outcome of this formed into his sins..."
The stones rained from all sides, crushing down to where I stood.
"The sins pressed deeper and turned into chains that followed his guilt, but it was too late."
The voice stopped, probably delighted to see that this attack had got me.
The impact of the stones crushing down on me had created a deep crater below.
At the initiation of the attack, I hadn’t known the best method to engage it. But I had chosen to follow my instincts at the last moment.
Activating a barrier with the help of my Thalassic title, I encircled it with the protection granted by the snaking smokes of the Shadow Master title.
Activating both titles is going to cost me a fortune of my Mana points. I knew even before I activated them.
But there was no better choice other than to rely on the longevity of my Mana points and the rigidity of the barrier created by the two titles.
Thankfully, the barrier was steadfast until the last moment, when I was buried into the deep crater created by that attack.
Once the gust of dust from that attack had settled, I heard a muffled scream from the sentries.
They were extremely surprised with my survival.
"Hey cowards, don’t think I would give up until I told you my own story," I called out from within the crater.
Then, with my head raised down, staring at the ground, I murmured. "And I won’t fail my promise either."
I imagined the scene of my sister smiling at me with pride for going through all the odds and succeeding at last.
"I won’t fail her!" I said with a clenched fist, determined.
The fifth voice began immediately after me.
"Desperate to lighten his burden, he went to a sky temple in search of Air. In this temple was an Aether Plume, which lay on its altar. The moment he touched it..."
Action spoke louder than the voice.
The wind, which had not existed before in this zone, appeared and swirled violently. They continued in their rotary motion, collecting everything in their path into their embodiment.
A hurricane formed.
Among the victims of this immense energy of the wind was my very self. But I didn’t let myself be carried away like the other objects.
I took advantage of my high agility and willpower and began to speed around the swirling wind. As I sped around on my cloud platform, I held my sword by the side with its shimmering energy to slice the wind.
From the outside, an onlooker would only be able to see the sparks running along the edges of this hurricane.
Consistently, I continued flying around, cutting the wind edges continuously, creating open spaces wherever my sword had contact with the wind.
Finally, the chaos caused by the wind settled, and I returned to my footing on the ground, bent forward and panting heavily with my hands resting on my knee.
"That... was quite... a fierce attack," I mumbled.
Silence.
But no other attack seemed to be coming. Instead, the other voices completed the story.
"That was when Darkness found him. The boy, left with the choice of comfort, understanding, and peace that it offered, accepted, letting darkness wrap around his spirit like a cloak."
"Having faced the brutality of these various elements, the boy was granted the immense power to control any magic he can... and even create constructs and manipulate other powers with his blood."
"HE BECAME THE STRONGEST OF ALL MAGES!"
Still panting heavily, I stuttered. "That’s a lie. The person who had captured you, Sentries, is the most powerful of all mages."
"HA HA HA HA!" the voices mocked me. "WE ONLY ALLOWED HIM TO. IT WAS A SETUP!"
"A setup?" I asked, not understanding what they meant by that.
The story was written that my father had fought with the demon Master and brought back the seven elemental sentries.
But now was not the right time to begin to sort this confusion out. I will still have plenty of time once I become a Purifier.
Releasing my hands from my knees and standing upright, I held my sword with all the strength in my right hand and pointed it upwards.
With newfound determination, I spoke.
"I guess that marks the end of your story," I said. "Now, I will tell you my own story!"
...
Out there in the forest, Lyra had noticed a massive, condemning power from one direction.
She stood akimbo for a while, with her flame sword at a diagonal by her side.
"What is the great power I can feel coming from the East?" she said. "Even at such a distance, it still possesses such a demanding presence?"
A smile left her lips, and she flicked her sword with determination.
"Let’s go and check it out, buddy."
...
Miriam was still in her zone, but she had returned to sitting on the plane again. Only that this time, she wasn’t adamant and lazy.
She was thinking hard of what to do.
From what it seemed, the best way to complete the test was to find a demon who had been captured by other Purifiers and locked in the enchanted test zones and defeat the demon.
At least, that was what she knew from the knowledge her mother had imparted to her. Although she also knew from her mother that not everyone was faced with the problem of fighting the captured demons.
There were those caught up with logical-based difficulties or even any problem at all to find solutions, but it was rare.
From what her mother told her, this category of candidates was usually unlucky, and the majority don’t make it through the first phase.
"Does this make me a member of this category of candidates? But what problem am I to solve?" Miriam thought, rising and pacing about for a bit.
"I will surely join the minority who succeed. So, what should I do?" she asked no one in particular. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Just then, the wind knifed through her skin. She felt the force of the massive power.
"This presence is astonishing. Whatever extinguishes it shall bow and tiptoe to my feet," she said, and headed in the direction of this power.
