"Lineage, in simple terms, is when a Bloodline has direct connection with a Mythical Creature. And that connection is in form of an Aspect from the Myth the Bloodline is connected to."

Aika said simply. Three felt like they understood the concept but didn’t at the same time.

"If you don’t understand, let me give you an example. My Master here has the Bloodline of Portsmonth, a Mythical Creature and that Myth is related to, Freedom, Flow, Vastness and many more. Portsmonth, at its core is a Wind Spirit. And when a Myth dies, their Aspects scatters around the world. Getting absorbed into things. And they Gain a part of the Mythical Creatures Aspect."

"Wait. Why would Mythical Creatures die? I mean. They could be Immortal and live forever no?"

Alex interjected. Feeling confused about the death of the Mythical Creatures. Why would they die?

"Well... its my fault that I articulated it wrong. The Mythical Creatures don’t actually die in the mortal sense. Killing a Myth is practically impossible because you need to erase everything related to their Myth. What they did however was something else. In ancient times, there were many Mythical Creatures on Earth. Their powers were so great that them, just existing threatened the world continuity. So, they scattered themselves and spread throughout the world.

And when they did, their Aspects were absorbed by living and non living creatures and object alike. Our Ancestor received an Aspect as well. And my Master was born with highest compatibility with the Aspect of all the history of our clan."

Aika explained and Saika involuntarily puffed out her chest. But she then turned to Alex and saw him staring. Suddenly, an idea came to her mind. A chance to get back at Alex for embarrassing her like that before.

"You like what you see~~?"

Saika said with a teasing smile. Alex didn’t look away and rubbed his chin. Thinking.

"Hmm. Although the view is nice, it would be even better if I could enjoy it myself."

Alex said flatly. Saika’s face instantly turned red from embarrassment. She hugged her chest and hunched forward. Her eyes quivering.

"Alex! You bad guy! Pervert!"

Alex just gave a goofy smile and leaned back on the bench. Nakashima, who was between the two couldn’t help but sigh.

"Sigh~~. Why don’t you two just fuck already ~~. It will save everyone’s time~."

"Wha-Wha-What are you saying Nakashima!!"

Hearing Nakashima, Saika’s brain short circuited. Alex just gazed at Nakashima.

"I didn’t think you were that kind of person..."

Nakashima instantly flinched. Feeling embarrassed that she let her tounge slip.

"We-Well... I tend to let myself loose when I’m around people that I’m comfortable with... this is who I am alright! Don’t judge me!"

Nakashima said with a red face and closed eyes. Feeling extremely shy. Alex just nodded and shifted into a comfortable position. Hands folded over his chest.

"Understandable. Aika-chan. Ignore the nuisance. Continue please~~."

Aika nodded. Her expression didn’t change much. Nakashima had her head down. And Saika was rubbing her cheeks with both hands to ease the tension snapped to focus.

She definitely felt Alex said something bad but she missed it. So she couldn’t do anything. She just gave him a ’I know what you did’ look.

"As I was saying, master has the highest Compatibility with the Mythical Aspect of our Bloodline. And she even awakened it not long ago. The Mythical Aspect the Sakamo Bloodline has is Authority over Wind. Wind Sovereign. Unlike most of us, who needs to refine Natural Energy through our Bloodline to use our Bloodlines powers through Bloodline Arts, she doesn’t need any. The Wind obeys her command. Only set back is that how much wind she can command."

Aika said with evident pride in her voice. Nakashima stared at Saika with wide eyes. She knew about Mythical Aspects, and how hard it is to awaken it. Even her Eldest brother, considered most talented among her sibling only managed awakened it recently.

Her understanding of her friend took a new shape. Saika was feeling proud. She didn’t know her feats were that impressive. Or she would have flexed a lot to the world.

"Doesn’t that mean she is pretty much useless if there is no Wind?"

But it was short lived. The feeling of pride deflated like a popped balloon with Alex’s statement. All three girls stare at him in shock. Eyes wide and mouth hung loose.

"What?"

He asked, confused. Wasn’t that an obvious flaw?

"We-Well, that. That seems to be that case..."

Aiak stammered. Unable to retort.

"Ehem! A-anyway. My Master is special! But what I wanted to say was, not every Bloodline that is connected to a Mythical Creature can reach the Mythical level and not every seemingly ordinary Bloodline is ordinary. There could be dormant potential of awakening an Aspect. Aspect makes a Bloodline part of the direct line. And any other is just branch."

"So basically, Lineage is how a family grows isn’t it? You should have said so sooner! Why be so redundant? ... don’t tell me... you wanted to flex that your master is special!? Woah! Aika-chan you badie!"

"Th-that’s not it!... maybe a little... but I just wanted to make you guys understand!! Fully!!"

Aika said with a cute frown. Trying to appear intimidating because she got caught in her little game. Her face red with embarrassment.

"Pff-hahaha!"

Alex burst into laughter seeing Aika’s antiques. Nakashima and Saika laughed too.

Aika just gritted her teeth. Feeling extremely embarrassed. She wanted to run and hide but it will be even more embarrassing if she ran. So she just sat there, face burning red.

"Alright. Enough laughing. Let’s go eat something. Nakashima’s treat."

Alex said and stood up.

"Huh!? Why me!?"

Nakashima snapped her head up to look at Alex. Feeling wronged.

"You’re new to this group. So of course you need to pay tribute."

Alex rolled his eyes as if stating the most obvious fact.

"Come on. Let’s go. I’m craving some burgers."

Alex said and started walking towards the lake side tourist spot.

Nakashima started at his back with wide mouth. Disbelief written all over her face. She couldn’t understand if he was serious or not.

She looked at Saika who was happily dragging Aika up. Aika still sulking for being laughed at. Her face slightly red. Eyes down cast. Saika was jumping up and down excitedly.

"Let’s go Aika-chan! My stingy friend Nakashima is going to give a treat! We need to eat a lot so her pocket bleeds!!"

She said as hugged Aika in excitement. The duo walked to catch up to Alex. Nakashima couldn’t understand why they were so confident that she will treat them. But sighed and got up.

"Hey! Wait for me!"

Nakashima jogged upto Saika and Aika. Although she felt weird about all this, she also felt warm in her heart. Because of her status, everyone that approached her were either fake or had some other intentions.

The only real friend she made was Saika. But she was a ball of chaos that is hard to contain in one place. So their time together was limited. But they are still good friends.

When she first got to know that her friend knew the No.1 of both Written and Combat Test she got curious and asked to meet absent mindedly. She didn’t think much of it but things snow balled and Saika actually arranged a meeting between them.

Nakashima didn’t have much expectations at first. The No.1 may be strong and talented, but no one can let go the allure of getting on the good side of one of the Ten Great Clans good side.

But shattering all her expectations, Alex turned out to be pretty normal when treating her. But he is abnormal in every other aspects. She couldn’t understand his thought process at all.

Alex maybe the most attractive male she had ever seen in her small life. But the most intoxicating part about him is that his personality. Its weird. Weird in a way that made people want to know more about you.

Nakashima looked ahead and found Alex walking, scrolling through his phone. Not caring about the fact that three dream girls were walking behind him.

’...Truly a curious person.’

And Nakashima can tell he isn’t faking it. She had meet many boys her age who tried to act normal and casual to make her curious, but she could sense their intentions clearly.

Nakashima smiled. Her heart beating faster than usual. An unfamiliar feeling spreading through her chest. Making her feel giddy.

She lightly touched her chest and smiled softly.

"Nakashima! You can’t back down OK! You never pay when we go out! You stingy little thing!"

Saika said with her fingers pointed at Nakashimas nose. Nakashima’s mood instantly shored. Her expression morphed into one of annoyance.

"And whose fault is that!? You practically drag me around! Not giving me any time to prepare! And you think we could have had those ’adventures’ of yours if I had taken my cards? My clan would have instantly tracked me and taken me home!"

She retorted back. Saika faltered a bit. Thinking of a comeback. Her face lit up.

"You could have used cash!"

"WHO uses cash in this day and age!?"

Nakashima and Saika bicker like cat and dog. Aika had already recovered and activated her Automatic Walking skill this time. She walked in autopilot. Not focusing on anything.

Alex at the front felt somewhat irritated.

"These girls are too loud..."

He murmured under his breath before focusing on the novel he was reading. They were good...
