Chapter 41: Chapter 41 – Ice Bone Spell

A few minutes ago,

The grandson, Alvin, peaked his head in. “Grandma wants me to send of Sire Yu,”

“Oh, look at the time. Sorry for keeping you for so long, Yu.” Feng smiled at him.

“No, not an issue at all. I enjoyed your company.” he gently held her hand and kissed it. “See you later, Miss Feng,” he got up and left, following the young man.

As soon as he closed the door, his pleasant expression turned sour. “You could have waited another hour,”

Alvin just smiled at shrugged. “My new aunt might need her beauty sleep. And besides, I can’t let a young man such as yourself alone with a young lady of our house for long.” He secretly glanced at the mage. “Did you really mean it when you said that you would teach the twins?”

“Yes,” Yubiri said curtly whilst adjusting his coat. “If I can be close to her, I would be willing to teach even a beast,” he whispered with a soft smile on his face.

.....

Old lady Hiliana and her grandson send him off.

Yubiri went straight over to his room. “Kijin! Find me where Miss Mary lives. I have something VERY important to talk to her.”

The young servant who was making tea nodded vigorously. “Yes master. I shall leave at once.” he placed the tea pot gently on the table, wiped his hands clean and rushed out the room.

After his servant left the room, Yubiri puched the walls hard. He stomped around in the hallway, barely holding back his rage. “Fuck that girl. How dare she hurt my Feng. I will show her what kind of wrath I can bring about. No one should dare think about touching the one I treasure.”

He rushed over to his study, checking what kind of spell he wanted to cast on her. “Is disfiguring spell good? No, it won’t do. I need something harsher....” he flipped though book after book trying to find a perfect spell.

Soon his servant ran back with the information. “Master, she lives with her single mother in the lower deck, second last room in the east corridor. And the young girl seems to be...” before he could finish, Yubiri started mumbling something.

“Lower deck, second last room in the east corridor,” Yubiri mumbled and strode out with renewed passion.

“Master wait... I wasn’t finished yet!” He watched his master storm out without listening to the complete information he found “agh, why is my master so..... so, I can’t even find a word to describe him,” he sighed and went back to making tea. “When it comes to that young girl Feng and that child Clarina, my master loosed his calm,”

Suddenly, a bad thought arose in his mind. ‘Is my mater perhaps.... into young girls.’ He swiftly shook that thought out of his mind. “How could my magnanimous master be of such sorts? He is just interested in them because...”

He really couldn’t find the reason why his master was interested in them.

While the little servant was having a small crisis, Yubiri, on the other hand, walked stiffly over to the said room and knocked loudly.

A middle age woman opened the door. “Oh my sire Yu, you are here at last. We are saved. Pease come in. Come in,” the woman cried loudly and welcomed him in.

He slightly frowned at this. “Might I know where Miss Mary is?”

“Yes, yes, she is here. My daughter.... she needs you Sire Yu. Please help us out,” the lady kept crying, and she opened another door just next to the parlour.

As soon as she opened the door, a gust of cold wind spread out into the parlour. The middle age lady shivered.

“Sire Yu, she has been like this since last night. Please help her. Please,” she clung to his arm.

Yubiri gently pried her hands away and strode into the chilly room. Inside there was a small bed and a bedside vanity, nothing else. On the bed was a huge lump of sheets. “Where is Miss Mary?”

“Here sire,” the lady lifted the huge mountains of sheet to reveal a pale-faced young girl.

Yubiri’s brows rose. ‘Ice magic... there is a vast amount of Ice magic in her. Someone definitely put a spell on her.’

He carefully lifted up the sheets and checked her pulse. It was regular and strong, but her hands were freezing.

He immediately let go of her.

“Sorry, here use this sire.” the lady handed him a small hand held brazier, but he kindly refused.

“How long has it been? What other symptoms does she have?” he whispered, wearing his gloves on. Just from a single touch, his finger almost froze off.

“She as fine until the noon of yesterday, but last night, she suddenly screamed out loud that she was cold. We brought in all the blankets and braziers we had, but none of them could chase the chill away. Sire, is it.... is it some kind of disease?”

Yubiri did not answer. It was not a disease, rather a cleverly manages spell placed deep inside this girl’s bones. Even if a normal doctor saw her condition they might think it is a fever, but as a mage he knew that it wasn’t. 𝗳𝐫𝘦e𝘸𝗲𝚋𝓃𝚘v𝘦𝘭.𝑐𝒐m

A small spell marking of the spell was well placed right below her right ear, where people would tend to avoid.

It was called an ice bone spell. It was newest of the least popular spell that only a few mages knew of. Even he got to know of this spell only a few years ago when he was excavating a dig site in Yuta.

The castor puts in cold energy into the body and the spell drawn on the skin amplifies it. Ice bone spell is not a deadly one, but it leaves the one who is plagued with this deadly spell in a very bad state. They usually end up being cold all time of the year. Even if the scotching sun kissed their skin, they wild only feel the ice cold wind.

Their skin becomes cold as ice, freezing anyone who touches them.

It would lead to an extremely lonely existence

It will not kill the cursed; rather it will keep them locked up all their life. Until one day at old age the ice bones freezes over, leaving their frozen corpse that won’t even burn.

It was such a cruel spell for a young unmarried girl who had just entered the society just recently. But it was perfect as a punishment for her acts against Feng.

‘The caster must be a beginner. The spell is sloppy, but it does the job,’ Yubiri nodded to himself. He subtly placed his hand on her pillow and fortified the spell so that no lower grade mage can break it.

He glanced at the middle age woman who was silently wiping her tears. “Your daughter is plagued by a weird sickness. It is not fatal but even a small amount of sun exposure or light exposure would bring her immense coldness.”

“Oh god,” the lady held her chest and cried loudly. “Isn’t there something we can do? Any elixirs.. or spells... anything,”

“There is no cure for this. But fear not, if she stayed in a dark room with ample amount of blankets she can still live well.” he bowed to her and walked out of the room while wondering who might have cast such a spell.
