Chapter 204: Conflict

"Hmm... an unfamiliar ceiling..."

Shido opened his eyes, staring up at a ceiling he didn’t recognize, immediately realizing that someone must have brought him here while he was unconscious. He slowly looked around, taking in the spacious, luxurious room. Ornate furnishings, polished floors, and an air of natural breeze surrounded him.

It wasn’t hard for Shido to guess who had brought him here. After all, he had sensed their presence while he was fighting Zy’tl Q’ae.

Though he knew they were technically from an enemy camp, he hadn’t sensed any hostility from them. Instead, what he felt was curiosity, and a favorable impression toward him. Considering his how high level his love spot was, it wasn’t really a surprise anymore that they didn’t shown any ill intentions.

Besides, his current form wasn’t that of a human. Instead, he was in his Spirit form, surrounded by a faint, mysterious, ethereal aura. It seemed the two had realized as well that Shido was not an ordinary human.

Still, knowing he was inside Nazarick, Shido couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. He had, in a way, infiltrated their base without even trying.

Of course, he needed to remain cautious. This place was full of powerful beings, any of whom could pose a serious threat if they decided to attack. But Shido was confident in his ability to escape if necessary. His speed alone would make it difficult to catch him, and if he truly found himself cornered, he could simply use Hadou Tensei to drop massive debris from space, forcing them to focus on stopping the meteor rather than capturing him.

Having settled on his contingency plans, Shido took a moment to examine his condition. Aside from a lingering sense of fatigue, most of his stamina and energy had already been restored, thanks to his Spirit Body and the divine ring’s constant supply of Reiryoku and recovering his stamina.

Shido examined his body more closely, noting with quiet satisfaction that he had grown much stronger in this form. This was only the second time he had used his Spirit Form in this world, the first had been on the day he arrived, when he rampaged through the pitiful monsters that dared to attack him, and the second had been during his battle with Zy’tl Q’ae.

As for why he hadn’t reverted to his human form after passing out, it was simple: as long as he had Reiryoku, Shido could maintain his Spirit Form indefinitely, even while unconscious.

After confirming the condition of his body, he turned his focus inward, bringing up his status to check his current stats in Spirit Form.

Name: Itsuka Shido

Level: 49

Race: Spirit (Unsealed)

Class: World Traveler

Attributes:

STR: B → B+++

VIT: C+++ → B++

AGI: C++ → B+

INT: A+++ → S

CHA: S+ → S+

Luck: S → S+

Seeing his stats in Spirit Form, Shido couldn’t help but let out a low whistle. His three main attributes were nearing A rank, with one already having reached S rank, a result that didn’t surprise him much, given the vast reserves of mana he possessed.

In addition his charm and luck became S+ which made Shido sigh as it was a bit hard to believe that he could make those two attributes of him an S rank. But it was reasonable enough because of the skills he receive from the system.

With stats like these, Shido felt confident that he could hold his own against even the powerful Floor Guardians of Nazarick if it came down to it. Added to that, his world-destroying skills in Spirit Form were potent enough to decimate an entire city if unleashed at full power.

Knowing this, the worry that had quietly settled in his mind eased. Even here, in the stronghold of the enemy, Shido knew he had the power to protect himself.

What Shido needed to do next was plan how to complete the rest of his quests. He had already begun making his moves to secretly conquer the Re-Estize Kingdom, leaving only two objectives.

Killing a hundred Undead Knights and, finally, subduing a Floor Guardian.

The former would be easy enough to complete, but subduing a Floor Guardian was another matter entirely. Still, with the system at his side, Shido believed it was only a matter of time before he achieved it. He could aim for a weaker Floor Guardian to minimize risk, but if possible, Shido wanted it to be a girl.

"Ah! Right, I need to buy that skill."

Remembering the kinds of beings residing in this place, Shido decided it would be best to act with greater caution. He opened his system shop, preparing to purchase the skill he needed most at this moment.

Ding!

[You have purchased Soul Veil (Perfection Level)]

[200,000 SP has been deducted]

Seeing the newly purchased skill appear in his status, Shido nodded to himself, satisfied. With this, he had gained another secret weapon for his arsenal.

After Shido buying that skill, he closed the system interface since he sensed the presence of someone walking towards the direction of the room he was resting.

Click.

The door opened, and a dark-skinned girl in boyish attire walked in. Behind her followed a tall man with neatly combed black hair and round glasses perched on his nose. He wore a British-style suit complete with a tie, presenting the image of a refined gentleman.

However, it was clear he was not human. The long, pointed ears and the metallic, silver tail swaying lightly behind him made that evident at a glance.

Shido sat calmly on the bed, observing the two who had entered. It was obvious that they were Floor Guardians of Nazarick. Even without using any detection skills, Shido could tell they were strong.

They were Aura Bella Fiora and Demiurge.

Shido silently used his scan to view their stats.

Name: Demiurge

Level: 74

Age: 300+

Height: 181 cm

Class: Prince of Darkness

STR: B++

VIT: A

AGI: B++

INT: A+

CHA: D

LUK: D+

Threat Level: B+++

Name: Aura Bell Fiora

Level: 76

Age: 76

Height: 104 cm

Class: Beast Tamer

STR: A++

VIT: A+

AGI: A+++

INT: D++

CHA: C+

LUK: C

Threat Level: A++

Shido was momentarily dumbfounded as he read the results. He had initially assumed that Demiurge would be stronger than Aura, but the scan revealed otherwise. Aura’s stats were significantly higher, especially in physical parameters, and even her threat level surpassed Demiurge’s.

It was a good reminder not to judge based solely on appearance, especially in a place like Nazarick.

But the more Shido thought about it, the more it made sense.

Demiurge was more of a strategist than a fighter, so these stats were actually fitting for his role.

Shio was thinking inside his head while looking at the stats of the two but he was interrupted.

"It seems that you are already awake."

Aura had just opened her mouth to speak, but Demiurge beat her to it, adjusting his glasses as he spoke with hostility, making Aura smile wryly.

Shido already know that he would receive that kind of treatment specially when they are cautious towards outsiders specially a strong one like him.

But this was better since if he was a weak human, they would not even care about him and might even throw him to the 7th floor where Demiurge do his experiment.

Shido didn’t mind the treatment. Instead, he ignored Demiurge and turned his attention to Aura, who was standing awkwardly beside him.

"Are you the one who saved me?"

"H-Ha?" Aura stiffened, caught off guard by the sudden question. She became even more awkward when Shido ignored Demiurge entirely, but her eyes widened in surprise when she heard Shido’s words. She knew for certain that Shido had passed out before she and Shalltear reached him, so how did he know it was her?

"I could sense your presence from miles away," Shido explained, his eyes calmly observing her reactions. "You were with another person, right? So it wasn’t hard to guess that you were the ones who brought me here."
