Reincarnated as a Princess's Pet: With Trash Stats, but SSS-Rank Skill-Chapter 76: An Unexpected Reward
Max opened his eyes, a slight headache throbbing in his head.
He was staring straight at the ceiling.
And then, a face appeared right in front of his. Smiling.
"...good morning, little pet."
It took Max half a second to react.
"...huh?"
But he didn’t have time to process anything else.
Abby hugged him. Tight.
Max blinked, not reacting at first. Then he returned the hug. Still half asleep.
"...morning..."
His voice came out hoarse.
Moonlight crossed her arms from the side.
"...dad, you always pass out over everything."
Max turned his head slightly.
"...it’s not that bad..."
Dorian sighed, leaning against the wall.
"...his body doesn’t seem prepared to handle that much action."
A faint smile.
"...you should consider not pushing yourself like you’re invincible."
From the other side of the room, Varis stretched. His neck cracked. His shoulders too. Like nothing had happened.
"...ahhh..."
He exhaled.
"...now that was a good nap."
Max looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
"...weren’t you dying a moment ago?"
Varis smiled.
"...guess not even the devil can kill me."
Max let out a small laugh, then looked back at Abby. More serious now. More focused.
"...are you okay?"
Abby took a step back. She smiled and spun around, as if showing her completely intact body. No wounds.
"...I’m perfect."
She winked.
"...Dorian’s magic always works wonders."
Dorian raised a hand, brushing it off.
"...no need to thank me."
Pause.
"...it’s my job."
Max nodded. He sat up on the bed first, then stood up. He stretched a little.
"...do you know anything about the others?"
Varis shook his head.
"...nothing yet."
His expression grew slightly more serious.
"...we don’t even know if they’re okay."
Abby tilted her head, curious.
"...who else came with you?"
Max answered without hesitation.
"...Sophie and Neros."
He smiled.
"...they’re gathering information about Dante."
He crossed his arms.
"...but we ended up in a pretty messy situation."
He looked at them, one by one.
"...we’re helping the Phantom’s mafia deal with him."
Abby’s eyes widened slightly.
"...then we’re screwed."
Dorian looked her up and down, analyzing her.
"...I still can’t believe you’re a princess."
He narrowed his eyes.
"...though, to be honest..."
He shrugged.
"...it suits you."
Abby rolled her eyes.
"...I’m not proud of that trash title."
Her expression shifted. More serious.
"...how much do you know about my story?"
She looked at Max.
"...what did they tell you?"
Max hesitated for half a second. But he answered.
"...we know your father wants to sell you to Dante so you’ll marry him and become one of the Seven Hells."
Pause.
"...and that he already handed your brother Azael’s wife over to him."
The atmosphere tightened. But Max continued.
Without stopping.
"...and that the true owner of these lands..."
He took a breath.
"...is Dante himself, and your father owes him money."
Dorian frowned.
"...where did you get that information?"
Max shrugged.
"...I’ve been investigating."
But inside—
’...shit...’
A bit of sweat formed on his forehead.
’Did I say too much...?’
Abby stared at him for a few seconds. Then she sighed.
"...you’re all completely insane."
She shook her head.
"...coming all the way to hell just to rescue me..."
Her voice softened.
"...you didn’t have to."
Moon didn’t hesitate. She walked up and hugged her.
"...it’s the least we could do for a great friend."
Abby blinked, surprised. But she returned the hug, smiling.
Dorian stepped forward without shame and joined the hug too.
Max looked at him with clear disgust.
"...don’t be such a creep."
Dorian didn’t even flinch.
"...just enjoying the moment."
But then—
knock. knock.
Firm and sharp.
From the other side of the door.
Everyone froze, looking toward the entrance.
Except Abby, who walked up and opened it without hesitation.
And on the other side were Vimel, Neros, and Sophie.
Sophie saw Abby. Her eyes widened.
And instantly—
"...ABBY!"
She rushed toward her, not stopping. Hugged her way too tightly and started crying.
"...you’re okay... you’re okay..."
She grabbed her cheeks, looking at her up close. Too close.
"...did they do anything to you? Did they hurt you?"
She turned her face. Checked her ears.
Her arms. Her hands.
Then down to her legs. Her waist.
Everything. Completely desperate.
"...tell me you’re okay..."
Abby blinked, a bit surprised. But she smiled and took her hands.
"...relax, Sophie..."
Pause.
"...Dorian already took care of everything."
She winked.
"...I’m in one piece, and I feel great."
Sophie froze for a second, processing it. Then she hugged her again. Even tighter this time.
"...idiot..."
A laugh mixed with tears.
"...don’t ever disappear like that again..."
She pulled back slightly, her eyes still wet.
"...how did you find her?"
She looked around.
"...how did you get her out of wherever they were keeping her?"
Dorian raised his hand lazily and pointed his thumb.
"...ask the pet."
Moon lifted her chin proudly.
"...my dad is amazing."
A wide smile on her face.
"...he got her back all by himself."
Neros widened his eyes.
"...wow..."
He looked at Max with renewed respect.
Sophie and Abby exchanged a glance. Then, without saying a word, they walked toward Max, who was sitting on the edge of the bed. Still tired. Confused.
"...uh—?"
He didn’t finish.
Sophie leaned in and kissed him on one cheek.
Abby did the same on the other.
Dorian narrowed his eyes.
Varis frowned.
"...hey..."
"...that’s not fair."
But it was too late. Max froze. Completely stiff. Not understanding what was happening. His cheeks turned red.
"...I..."
Pause.
His vision wavered again.
"...I think—"
He fell backward, hitting the floor with a dull thud. Unconscious. Again.
Silence.
Moon looked at him and sighed. Then turned to Dorian, pointing at him.
"...it happened again."
She smiled.
"...back to work, mister healer." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Dorian covered his face with one hand, resigned.
"...this is starting to feel personal..."
Sophie laughed. Abby too.
Somewhere between amused and relieved.
For the first time, the room was filled with something different.
Calm.
Even if only for a moment.
