Chapter 68: Infiltrated in the Room

The group was already inside the guest room, completely silent. Door closed. Everything ready.

Dorian stretched.

"...well."

He pulled out a small blue vial.

"...time to work."

He uncorked it. A soft vapor drifted out. He tossed it toward Sophie.

Within seconds, the dirt vanished. The dust. The exhaustion.

As if she had just stepped out of a perfect bath.

Sophie blinked. Looked at her hands.

"...okay..."

Pause.

"...this is pretty useful."

Varis was already behind her. Tools in hand.

"...hold still."

Sophie didn’t even react.

Quick hands. Precise.

In a matter of seconds, her hairstyle changed. Neater. More elegant.

Varis looked like a master hairstylist.

Max stared at her.

"...wow..."

Dorian smiled.

"...you look incredible."

Max turned.

"...hey, Dorian."

He pointed at the vial.

"...can I borrow that charming perfume you mentioned earlier?"

Dorian raised an eyebrow. Then smiled.

"...with pleasure."

He tossed it to him.

Max caught it.

At that instant—

[Name: Charming Perfume]

[Effect: The scent of this perfume increases the attraction of individuals of the opposite gender toward the user]

Max narrowed his eyes.

’...interesting...’

He looked at Sophie. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

’...could this improve with my skill...?’

He raised the vial.

"...Sophie."

He looked at her with a curious smile.

"...I’m going to spray a bit on you."

Sophie raised a hand.

"...wait, that could be dangerous."

She crouched. Opened her bag. Pulled out several seals.

"...just in case it has a weird effect."

She approached each of them.

One by one, she placed a seal on them. A faint glow. Then it vanished.

"...anti-charm seals."

Pause.

"...in case something goes wrong."

She straightened up.

"...I have two left."

Max nodded.

"...good thinking."

He raised the perfume.

And—

psshh.

A light mist. The scent spread. Subtle, but intense.

At that moment—

[Effect enhancement detected]

[User skill has interacted with the item]

[Status applied: Enchanting]

Max’s eyes widened.

Another window.

[Enchanting]

[Effect: Those who feel attraction toward the user, regardless of gender, will enter an "Enchanted" state]

[Enchanted]

[Effect: The target develops deep love toward the user and will obey their words out of affection]

[Duration: 3 hours]

Max smiled.

"...this is perfect, way better than I expected."

Neros frowned.

"...this sounds dangerous."

Moon yawned.

"...I’m sleepy..."

She rubbed her eyes.

Max stored the vial.

He looked at everyone.

"...then we’re ready."

His eyes gleamed.

"...time to infiltrate Dante’s room."

***

The group moved through the hallways in complete silence. Watching the numbers. Identical doors. One after another.

"...nine hundred ninety-seven..." Max murmured.

They kept going.

"...nine hundred ninety-eight..."

Pause.

"...almost there."

They turned a corner—

"...what are you doing here?"

Everyone stopped.

It was William. Standing at the end of the hall. Carrying trays. His expression serious.

"...this sector is not for workers."

Pause.

"...it’s dangerous if you’re seen."

Max stepped forward. A big smile on his face.

"...perfect."

William frowned.

"...what?"

Max pointed down the hallway.

"...we actually needed a hand."

He looked straight at him.

"...do you know where Dante is?"

Silence.

"...and which room is his?"

William looked at him, confused.

"...I don’t understand."

Pause.

"...why are you looking for his room?"

His gaze hardened.

"...you’re supposed to rescue Abigail."

Dorian stepped forward.

"...trust us, dear butler."

Pause.

"...this is part of Abby’s rescue plan."

William hesitated. A lot.

But finally sighed.

"...follow me."

He turned around. The group followed. More long, dark corridors.

As they walked, William spoke.

"...Dante is not in his room, fortunately."

Pause.

"...he’s in a meeting with Lord Lucifer."

Silence.

"...they are finalizing the terms..."

He hesitated. His voice lowered.

"...to marry him to little Abigail."

Sophie tightened her grip on the key.

William continued.

"...they’ve been talking for hours."

Pause.

"...since the afternoon."

They turned another corner and finally stopped in front of a door.

A number nine hundred ninety-nine.

Max stepped closer.

"...how long could it take?"

William shook his head slightly.

"...I don’t know."

Pause.

"...but I doubt they’ll finish anytime soon."

He looked at them.

"...you have time to do whatever you need inside this room."

Max nodded.

"...thanks."

Sophie stepped forward. Inserted the key and turned it.

click.

The door... didn’t open.

"...huh?" Varis murmured.

Max pushed. Nothing.

Dorian tried. Nothing.

Neros frowned.

"...it’s sealed."

Dorian nodded.

"...definitely enchanted."

Neros placed a hand on the door.

"...we could break it."

William sighed.

"...no."

Everyone looked at him.

He stepped closer.

"...you didn’t turn the lock."

Max frowned.

"...we already turned the key."

William shook his head. Pointed at the number.

Nine hundred ninety-nine.

He set a tray on the ground, grabbed the numbers, and flipped them.

click.

Six hundred sixty-six,

"...now try."

Max turned the handle. The door opened automatically.

"...of course..." he muttered.

William stepped back.

"...be careful."

Pause.

"...and please..."

His gaze lowered.

"...don’t lose your heads."

He turned around. And left.

The group entered.

The contrast was immediate. The room was huge. Luxurious. Two massive beds. Heavy curtains. Soft carpets. Gold everywhere.

Varis’ eyes widened.

"...wow..."

He looked at a table. Bottles of liquor everywhere.

"...now this is living."

Without hesitation, he pocketed a couple.

Dorian was already elsewhere. Checking clothes.

"...look at this..."

He put on a coat. Looked at himself in the mirror.

"...it suits me perfectly."

Moon was at the bedside table. Playing with jewelry.

"...they shine..."

Neros stood in a corner. Still. Waiting.

Sophie walked toward a wall where there were seven paintings. Women. All different. Beautiful. But one was empty.

Max stepped forward.

"...now."

Pause.

"...positions."

He pointed to the bed.

"...Sophie."

He looked at her.

"...you wait here."

He pointed to a nearby table.

"...two glasses of wine."

Then turned.

"...Dorian, with me."

He pointed at a large wardrobe.

"...we hide in there."

He looked at Neros.

"...use the last invisibility seal."

Neros nodded.

"...I’ll keep watch."

Max looked down.

"...Varis, Moon."

He pointed under the bed.

"...under."

Varis sighed. Moon yawned. But obeyed.

Max looked back at Sophie.

"...you’re very brave."

His eyes softened.

"...I trust you."

Sophie tightened her grip on the key. Sat on the bed. Took the glasses while Max poured the sleeping potion into one of them.

"...I hope this works."

Max smiled and disappeared inside the wardrobe.

The room fell completely silent, waiting for Dante’s arrival.
