Reincarnated as a Lizard-Chapter 361: Imposter? (2)
Making their way out of the guild building after hearing that the troublemakers had decided to show up before they had the chance to go and find the dream gate, the five didn’t mind spending some time teaching the troublemakers a lesson on behalf of the church before having to go to the dreamscape. Not just to help uphold the reputation of the church, but also because they were genuinely curious about the ones bold enough to not just impersonate someone from the Holy Light Church, but also the Red Dawn Legion.
Just impersonating someone from the Holy Light Church was already something that few would dare to do, while the impersonation of the Red Dawn Legion would end in death if the real members of the Red Dawn Legion ever learnt about it. Speaking of which, as the group of five made their way towards the source of the commotion, they ran into the group of pilgrims that they had encountered on their way into Temple Guard City not too long ago.
And it was as they ran into the group of pilgrims that one of the five noticed a faint engraving on the robe of one of the older pilgrims in charge of escorting the juniors.
"Hm? That engraving, I didn’t notice it earlier, you are a veteran from the Red Dawn Legion?" Calling it out as the other four also turned to look and saw that one of the older guides was indeed a veteran from the Red Dawn Legion.
Even if the other party wasn’t anywhere near them in terms of strength and should hover somewhere around the level of an A Rank Adventurer, a member of the Red Dawn Legion was built differently. Especially a veteran that had managed to survive to old age and retire, a person like that undoubtedly had the ability to pose a challenge even to someone at the S Rank.
"Ohh? You recognized that old engraving? Hehe, this old man did indeed use to serve in the Red Dawn Legion in the past, but I ended up retiring after a junior of mine became strong enough to take on my role and instead decided to take on training the younger generation.
By the way... Are you five also heading over to check up on the trouble caused by someone from our side?"
"Yes, though, from what we learnt, it likely isn’t someone from our side, but instead a group of imposters." Nodding his head in response to the older man, the somewhat excited man who was more than ready to teach this group of imposters a lesson while at the same time avoiding having to enter the dreamscape felt a sudden shiver run down his spine as the older man who had been relatively amicable so far narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"Imposter you say? But... I seem to have heard that some of the people involved are from the Red Dawn Legion?"
"Y-Yes, Senior, the ones causing trouble should be a group of imposters..." Feeling a sense of dread in the face of the sudden shift from the old man that he hadn’t even felt when facing the cardinal, the man who had been excited at the prospect of dealing with a group of imposters suddenly turned into a scared chick in the face of this senior from the Red Dawn Legion.
This sense of fear had nothing to do with the difference in strength between the two of them, but more so had to do with the downright terrifying killing intent that had begun leaking out of the older man.
Indeed, compared to the Red Dawn Legion, no other legion or group under the Holy Light has this kind of terrifying presence... Looks like those imposters won’t be getting out of this without losing a few limbs...
Silently thinking this to himself as he took a step back, the man understood that he wouldn’t get the chance to punish that group of imposters like he had originally wanted to do on behalf of the church.
"I see... Guess we will have to meet them and see just what they are planning by doing something so... Bold..." Not showing any of his killing intent outwardly outside of the small leak after learning that the group causing trouble were imposters and not actually part of the Holy Light Church, the older man smiled gently before he began making his way towards the commotion that could faintly be heard in the distance from where they were standing.
Even if they weren’t the ones to teach those troublemakers a lesson any longer, the group of five still wanted to join the fun and watch the show before having to struggle with their life on the line inside the dreamscape, so without much hesitation, they followed alongside the group of pilgrims. Taking the time during the journey to chat with some of the younger pilgrims about the situation and what to do if they end up encountering a similar situation on their own in the future.
It was during this relatively short five-minute journey to the source of the commotion that the group of five who had only casually chatted with the pilgrims about Temple Guard City earlier when they had been waiting alongside them to enter the city, that they learnt that the entire group belonged to the Red Dawn Legion.
The youths were prospective members, while the older ones were veterans of the Red Dawn Legion.
In other words, the troublemakers impersonating the Red Dawn Legion were going to be in far more trouble than originally anticipated. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Even if there was an S Rank Adventurer or two on their side, in the face of what was essentially twelve veterans of the Red Dawn Legion who were between the A and B Rank in terms of strength, they would stand little chance...
"Look that bastard is harassing another young woman again alongside his father..."
"Yeah, originally, I thought those two would stop after hitting a steel plate the last time around but looks like they brought reinforcement this time around."
"Indeed... They brought the feared Red Dawn Legion out! I even heard from an earlier clash with an adventurer unable to endure the scene that one of those Red Dawn Legion members is comparable to an S Rank Adventurer!"
"That’s the Red Dawn Legion for you... Powerful as ever, though its rather disappointing to see them assisting this kind of harassment..."
Getting to the scene of the commotion, the words of spectators reached them before they could even see what was happening... And from the words of these spectators alone, it became clear that the juniors of the Red Dawn Legion had been placed in the care of the five powerful church members out on a mission from a cardinal.
Why? Because the group of seniors from the Red Dawn Legion had all clearly started moving forward with hands already hovering around their weapons ready to draw blood at any moment, the second they heard how people were talking about the Red Dawn Legion.
Safe to say, whatever chance those imposters had of getting out of the current situation alive had disappeared the second, the reputation of the Red Dawn Legion was affected in front of these older veterans.
As for there being a potential S Rank Adventurer hidden amongst the imposters? None of these veterans cared the slightest bit about any of this and the group of five understood why, as the Red Dawn Legion was inherently fearless and would walk into deadly situations daily. One of the main reasons why veterans were so rare in the Red Dawn Legion and at the same time also the reason why every single veteran of the Red Dawn Legion was a figure feared across the world.
Still, the group of five and juniors of the Red Dawn Legion didn’t lack too far behind the seniors who had already started speeding up after hearing how people badmouthed the Red Dawn Legion.
Soon enough, finding themselves on aa large street that had mostly been vacated as people observed the situation playing out from afar, where two rotund men, one older and one younger wearing standard church robes, could be seen harassing a younger girl standing protectively in front of an older man that should be her father.
On the side protecting these two troublemakers wearing what could only be described as a laughable imitation of the Red Dawn Legion’s armor could be seen.
If there had been any doubt about this having been a group of imposters beforehand, it had entirely disappeared upon seeing this group of so-called Red Dawn Legion Members, something that caused a clear change in the veteran members of the Red Dawn Legion who only now became absolutely certain that this group wasn’t from the Red Dawn Legion.
After all, before seeing the group in question, there was always a chance that they were indeed a group from the Red Dawn Legion, but now that it was clear they weren’t, there was no reason for these older seniors to be the slightest bit merciful...
