Chapter 467: Chapter 467: The Fool I Was

Today was a beautiful day.

The late afternoon sun shone down on the advanced civilization of humans, bringing peace and joy in the midst of the mysterious recent happenings.

The sound of blaring sirens was a warning sign that those strange things that had been happening were about to happen again.

The joy of the people was forced and fake, but it was all they had. It wasn’t like they had another planet to escape to.

Irrespective of the children shouting as they ran through the halls and doors of their school, nothing else could have tarnished the beauty of this day.

*BOOM!*

The visible waves of space warping could be seen expanding from a singular point of collision.

The cars were blasted away, the pavement was blasted, and the main road was ripped out.

The direct casualties were significant.

Hundreds of children were immediately blown back by the shockwave. Their little bodies hit the walls of the school, skulls breaking and organs compressing.

The bodies of the children were plastered to the school’s walls in a bloody mess, creating a sickening work of art.

Almost all the children outside the school at the moment were crushed and died instantly. Some had quick deaths, others were not so lucky.

The little boys and girls had felt their skulls cracking. They had felt their ribs breaking and piercing their lungs right before they were smashed against the walls.

Their screams would have haunted anyone who survived to remember them.

Cars were flung out, crashing into the school’s compound and into the walls, further squashing the bodies into meat paste.

The children and teachers who had still been inside the school were not safe either. The momentum of the flying cars caused the walls to break inward.

Even the police cars and ambulances that were heading in the direction of the school were rocked back.

A golden figure shot out like a bullet through the park’s vicinity. A long trench was formed in the process and it looked like the park had been split in half from above.

Isabel rolled countless times on the ground, her body breaking away the soil in her way. For a moment, she couldn’t stop herself from moving and could only surrender to the overwhelming force of that blow.

Eventually, she slowed down, having crossed the entire park and was now in another district entirely.

She stood up from the rubble, seeing that she had stopped in the center of a street with shops all around.

Isabel paid no heed to the curious and frantic humans who were shouting curses or pulling out their phones to record the events.

She looked at her body, seeing the golden sheen all over her skin. That blow was devastating, enough to kill her, but it didn’t.

Kael’s protection was no joke. However, Isabel saw the flickering and couldn’t help but think of other scenarios.

What if it stopped working? What if Kael decided to let his son do as he wished with her?

Even now, she could only think of how to protect herself and her future, something she had been doing from the moment she met Ozia.

Isabel’s senses tingled like crazy, her red eyes stared toward the distance where she had come from.

Over there, far away, Ozia had his hand outstretched with a frighteningly cold gaze.

It was the same cold gaze Ozia had when he gutted that human. It was as if he no longer saw the person in front of him as a living thing, but rather, a flesh-and-bones machine that had to be deconstructed and put out of use.

That was how Ozia saw Isabel now, nothing but an extremely annoying bag of flesh and bones.

Something had snapped within Ozia, something that completely changed the way he processed everything around him.

If one checked well, they would notice that time seems to be distorting a little around him.

Silas was gone. He knew that he alone couldn’t hold Ozia back so he had gone to a safe distance to report to someone who could.

Besides, with the state Ozia was in, he could attack anyone.

He needed to vent, he needed to get out the frustration and anger and primal rage.

That emptiness that came from feeling betrayed was quickly being filled with negative emotions.

Ozia put his hand down, his cold eyes filled with righteous fury and the glimmer of runes.

"I was a fool," Ozia said, his voice somehow reaching the ears of Isabel and everyone.

Isabel shook her head and started looking around for a place to run to.

Ozia walked casually, his head low and his eyes on his supposed lover.

"I thought you loved me, I thought someone could finally love me!

But I was just your ticket to a better life. A life you couldn’t get on your own.

A retirement plan, is that what I was? Yes, it is.

*Sigh!*

How could I, Ozia Ol-mytee, be so fucking stupid?

I let you use me, I let you make demands from me, I let you into my life..."

Runes blasted to life all around Ozia and his body levitated into the air. He leaned forward, flying fast toward Isabel with his hands positioned to throw another punch.

"You don’t deserve anything! You are worthless!

But I’m also to blame! Your very existence annoys me, Isabel.

Every breath you take among the living reminds me of the fool I was..."

*BOOM!*

Ozia covered the distance in the blink of an eye and delivered the heavy fist to Isabel’s face.

All the shops around them exploded, their insides being blasted to smithereens by the shockwaves.

Isabel’s body flew back again, moving deeper into the city and landing in an apartment complex estate.

"You must never settle for less, and if you settle for less, don’t settle for one.

That is what my father told me!

Isabel, you are less, and I still settled for you alone.

They all warned me! They gave me so many fucking hints. You blinded me, Isabel, you deceived me!

You deceived ME! OZIA!"

Ozia’s form burst through multiple buildings in pursuit of Isabel.

"Do you know what I could have become if not for you?!"

Ozia dropped an axe kick on Isabel’s shimmering head, causing her body to sink into the ground like a nail through wood.

She was completely incapable of defending herself at this point. Ozia was faster, stronger, and smarter. The only thing she had going for her was the defense rune Kael had placed on her body.

With her body lodged into the asphalt road, feet to waist, she looked up helplessly at Ozia, practically begging with all her might.

Ozia looked down at Isabel, his mind faltering as he saw Isabel’s defenseless and pleading state. He hesitated.

But that hesitation was like an alarm in his transformed mind.

"Look what you did to me!" Ozia shouted, then kicked Isabel’s head like he was playing football.

The golden membrane worked well, absorbing all the impact and preventing the force from reaching Isabel. But the impact sent her body digging a long trench through the ground.

"From now on, I will no longer understand what it means to love and to be loved.

Because of you!

I will never fall for this shit ever again!

Because of you!

How could you turn something so wonderful into...THIS!"

*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*

Ozia rushed Isabel’s glowing form, raining hundreds of blows and punching her through the city.

Every attack he landed was deflected by the magic membrane and this only increased Ozia’s annoyance and frustration. He wished to break this fox lady in half and the barrier was stopping him.

At first, he just wanted to use the magic defense to vent out his anger. But seeing how unbreakable it was, it was only making him more angry.

Isabel flew through the sky, smashing through a tall skyscraper before Ozia caught her by the leg.

Ozia flung her down, following up with hundreds of magic projectiles and sharp rune discs.

Still, Isabel crashed into the ground unscathed. The magic projectiles didn’t harm her at all.

This didn’t lessen her fear though. Not once did she feel confident in this magic membrane.

*BAM!*

Ozia dropped down with his two knees to Isabel’s exposed belly. The ground exploded with a deep and wide crater forming around them.

"Look at what you’ve turned me into!" Ozia screamed. Magic runes formed in his knuckles as he dropped the punch on Isabel’s protected face.

*BOOM!*

The crater widened.

"Look at what I’ve become!"

*BOOM!*

Ozia threw another punch.

"Look at what you’re making me do!!"

*BOOM!

The magic-powered fist was too powerful. All the buildings around them for kilometers were gradually collapsing.

Ozia was doing more damage to his surroundings than to Isabel.

"Tell me! Was it that I wasn’t good enough for you?"

*BOOM!*

"Or was I just too good for you? Tell me!"

*BOOM!*

"TELL ME! AAAAARGH!"

*BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!...*

Ozia had now blasted a hole so wide that it was getting dark at the center. Still, he wasn’t satisfied.

How could she do this to him? He had given her his heart and mind, and she betrayed his loyalty.

"That’s enough Ozia!," The deep voice of the king suddenly echoed from the sky.
