Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 230: State Of Affairs
"You all may rise," Kael's telepathic voice reached the minds of all those bowing. He was very satisfied with their numbers and their actions.
That they were here meant that they had done what he had asked them to do.
"Commander Bibi, stay, the rest of you go back to what you were doing," Kael ordered.
As soon as he finished giving out that order, all the nearby animals instantly rose and went back to doing whatever they were doing.
Even those who were formerly not doing anything went to look for something to do. If not, it would look like they were trying to eavesdrop on Kael's conversation.
"Commander Bibi, report," Kael stated as his feet moved and he began walking toward a certain direction.
All the nearby creatures ignored him but also intentionally moved out of his way so as not to obstruct his path.
"Your Majesty, Paradise Beach has been successfully conquered, it is now our land," Commander Bibi replied as he got up and followed after Kael from behind.
Occasionally, his eyes darted to Chloe's figure, wondering why she was still there and walking with so much confidence.
"I can see that, I'm asking for the details," Kael said, "I didn't plan to come back from my journey so early, so I didn't expect you all to have completed the campaign by now.
Commander Bibi nodded his head, "Yes Your Majesty, it would have taken us much longer if not for the help of Her Highness, N'bayé," He said with respect adorning his eyes.
Just then, heavy footsteps reached their eyes and a naked, tall, and athletic woman with well-defined muscles appeared before them.
Diane stopped running and came to a stop in front of Kael, " Welcome back, King Kael," Diane said with a sweet smile.
However, before Kael could respond, Diane's smile disappeared as she saw Chloe standing next to Kael.
'What is she still doing here?' Diane frowned but didn't speak out loud. She also noticed the strange clothing Kael was wearing.
"Diane, walk with me," Kael said, he simply nodded his head and gestured for her to continue his walk with him, he himself didn't stop walking.
Meanwhile, Kael was busy absorbing the Conquering Essence in the surrounding area, expanding his reserves.
Undetectable to the naked eye, wisps of Conquering Essence flowed into Kael's body to join the reserves he already had.
Kael was starting to have a faint understanding of how Conquering Essence could be formed and where he could get it from.
Everywhere they walked, Conquering Essence was waiting to be absorbed by him.
"Eidel and Ruda? I left them here some time ago," Kael asked.
"We assisted both of them in escaping the settlement before we began our main attack. Unfortunately, it cost us Skybaud's life
They've both followed N'bayé back to the mountain along with the rest of the army that isn't needed here and the two new case leaders,"
Diane responded swiftly before Commander Bibi could give his own response. He decided to be quiet and let Diane do the talking from now on.
"New caste leaders? Who?" Kael asked. "I hope Skybaud's position has been given to someone else more capable?"
Kael didn't seem too bothered to find out that one of his caste leaders had died in battle. But that was how battle was, anyone could die.
Kael had already expected some casualties, that Skybaud died was new ls but it wasn't that much of a big news for him.
Now, if anything happened to one of his lionesses, then he might actually react.
"Yes, Skybaud has been replaced with a successor he had chosen before then, his second in command, Condra.
And yes, the two new caste leaders are Harath and Stella," Diane said.
"Stella? Harath, sure, but I would have preferred for Stella to be dead," Kael commented as they continued their walk, heading to the border of the settlement that was closest to the forest.
"How did it happen?"
"Well, Harath's case was fairly easy. All we had to do was secretly make contact with him before the main fixes arrived. We tempted him with the allures of power and wealth he would have once he joined us as a caste leader for the pigs, as well as him having access to our refined metal market.
Harath didn't give us any trouble, he was as reasonable as he was greedy. He accepted our conditions and didn't interfere in the battles we had, neither did his pigs.
Our trouble came from Stella who was not only powerful but someone who was working to achieve a goal. Surely, she wouldn't appreciate our interference in her life at his time.
Because of this, after we gathered some info about her from Harath, N'bayé decided to come personally to 'address' the issue.
Distance was nothing to her now, she arrived here within a few hours.
N'bayé's initial intent was to kill Stella and look for a replacement for the new rabbit Caste. But N'bayé began to see value in Stella while she remained alive.
According to N'bayé, we needed as many Maguses as we could get and it would be okay if we could recruit them with any means necessary.
Stella refused naturally, I don't know what she was thinking. N'bayé later recruited her by force.
Kael, you don't need to worry, Stella is essentially our slave as it is now,"
Diane's reassuring words did nothing to remove the frown on Kael's face.
"I'm not worried," Kael stated calmly, he didn't want to show any doubts about N'bayé's judgment until he could see Stella for himself and confirm that she wouldn't become another Isaiah.
"You said they've left?" Kael asked.
"Yes, N'bayé took all of them back with her that same night. She said she would assign them to different parts of our territories while maximizing their use to the lion regime," Diane said.
"Lion Regime, I like that," Kael muttered to which Chloe nodded in approval.
Chloe stayed some distance away from Diane, this was the muscle-headed lion who had no hesitation when bullying her before because of Katari.
"And what about the elephants, have they been subdued yet?" Kael asked.
The elephants were in his way of expanding beyond the forest to the wild plains. He could bypass them but he felt that it was better to settle it once and for all.
To his question, Diane's face sank, "I've not heard any news from the snakes, my King.
Last I heard, Olivia and Zabita stepped out to assist them,"
"Hmm," Kael thought for a while, "We'll be heading there once I'm done here."
"Speaking of which, any news from Katari, how is she?" Kael asked with a look of concern.
Diane subconsciously glanced at Chloe who also subconsciously glanced at Diane. The two locked eyes for a second before looking away.
"N'bayé says she's getting better, although there are some oddities," Daine said.
Diane could not help but wonder what Katari would do if she woke up and found Chloe still alive and staying with them. Diane found it thrilling just imagining how Chloe would try to defend herself from someone like Katari.
'Just wait…'
"What oddities?" Kael asked.
"It's hard to explain, you'd have to see it for yourself," Diane said.
Kael and the rest got closer and closer to the border close to the forest. Here, Kael could see many damaged bone huts as well as countless teeth lying around.
Blood and paw prints littered this place, this was where Commander Bibi had struck the settlement from.
"So what is the date of the settlement now, what are you still doing here?" Kael asked.
Diane didn't answer this question, rather she looked at Commander Bibi who had remained silent ever since she started talking.
Bibi understood her intentions and gladly spoke up, "Your Majesty, we are to remain here to serve as pillars of command until Prince Burdo arrives."
"Burdo? Why are you waiting for him?" Kael wondered.
"Her Highness, N'bayé, said that Burdo would be the best candidate to govern this safe zone.
A place that serves as a bridge between the sea and land, it's only befitting that Prince Burdo who is a water lion managed it in the name of the King,"
Commander Bibi was very careful with his words.
"And why is Burdo not here now, didn't he come with you guys? Don't tell me he didn't participate at all," Kael stopped walking at this time, he turned around to face Commander Bibi and Diane.
Commander Bibi gulped, not knowing how to give a suitable answer. Thankfully, Diane answered for him.
"Burdo would have come but he had to turn back to attend to one of his lionesses who could give birth any moment from now," Diane said.
"Oh," Kael nodded, not saying anything again. Burdo was focused on having a child so that Kael's betrothal contract could be fulfilled.
Kael had been stingy to him with resources, maybe if he gave Kael his daughter as a consort as required, the king would consider giving him some resources so that he could evolve.
Kael wanted to say something again but he suddenly paused. He sensed something.
His tracking rune, it was close.
Zod was close.
