Reincarnated as a failed hero?! Watch me Defy Fate!-Chapter 234: Win-Win Engagement
Chapter 234: Win-Win Engagement
Watching Envi make that bold declaration—saying he loved both Serena and Amelia—I screamed at him from within the System Realm.
"Envi, you bastard! I swore my loyalty to Serena! Do you realize what you’re doing? You’re making me betray her!"
But he didn’t respond.
My voice echoed in this realm, unheard—like shouting into a void. He simply ignored me.
"Dammit, let me take back control! You can’t just hijack my body like this!" I kept struggling, mentally fighting for dominance, but nothing worked. It was like trying to punch a wall of steel.
Envi remained unmoved, calm.
He stood tall, looking directly at King Aslan with a rare seriousness in his eyes. I’d never seen that look from him before.
And that only made it worse.
"This freaking system idiot is spewing emotional drama with my face—my voice—and with that overly serious expression of his. It’s infuriating!"
Desperate, I reached out telepathically to Runa, who was still outside the System Realm.
"Runa! Stop him! Do something!"
She nodded and tried to dash toward Envi—toward me, technically.
But in a blink, Envi unsummoned her, forcing her back into the Grimoire of the Darkness like flicking away a fly.
"No—damn it!" I cursed. "You’re so dead when I get my body back!"
And just like that, there was no one left who could intervene.
I felt helpless.
"Please, Envi... don’t hurt Serena. Don’t break her heart. I don’t want to see her sad..." My voice grew faint. Weak.
From inside the realm, I watched the unfolding chaos. Serena stood there, stunned. Amelia too.
Of course they were confused. Who wouldn’t be?
Just moments ago, I had stood before the King and said I loved Serena. I’d ended my engagement to Amelia. And now, suddenly, Envi, using my body, was declaring his love for both of them.
It looked like I was the worst kind of two-timing scumbag.
I could see the fury rising in Sieg-sama’s eyes. His aura darkened as his killing intent swelled. He was glaring daggers at Envi—at me.
He probably thought I was playing with Serena’s feelings. His daughter.
God, I was so screwed.
Then, out of nowhere, I heard Envi’s voice inside my head.
"Sit back and let me handle this. I’m going to get you out of this mess."
His tone was calm. Too calm.
I didn’t respond.
I just stared, defeated. Inside, I was already rehearsing my apology to Serena for the emotional chaos Envi was causing.
King Aslan, clearly caught off guard by Envi’s declaration, stepped forward.
"What do you mean, Naoki?" he asked, his voice low and gruff with restrained anger. "Just moments ago, you said you only loved Serena and wanted to cancel the engagement. Now you say this?"
He raised a brow, waiting.
Sieg-sama snapped, "You’d better have a good explanation, you arrogant little—!" He was just about to lunge forward when Lyra quickly held him back.
"Please, Father. Wait," she said urgently.
But Envi didn’t flinch. He held his ground and, with a sudden surge of confidence, shouted, "I’m not joking! I’m being completely honest—I love Serena... but I also love Amelia!"
And then, without hesitation, he grabbed both Serena and Amelia by the hand, and pulled them into an embrace—hugging them both tightly in front of everyone.
"!!"Both girls gasped in unison. Their faces flushed instantly.
"Naoki! We’re in front of the King and my father!" Serena hissed, embarrassed.
Amelia’s face was red as a tomato, but she smiled softly. "You’re so bold, Naoki... goodness."
The entire room froze.
No one knew what to say.
King Aslan’s eyes twitched, Sieg-sama looked like he was ready to explode, and even Lyra was at a complete loss for words.
From inside the Grimoire, Runa was watching everything unfold with wide eyes. I could hear her squealing in excitement like a schoolgirl watching a dramatic love scene in a fantasy drama.
"She’s actually enjoying this... I can’t believe this..." I muttered bitterly.
I gave up. There was no stopping this runaway train.
Finally, King Aslan stepped forward, still visibly stunned. "Are you being serious, Naoki? Because right now, I truly can’t tell what you really want."
Sieg-sama joined in, fists clenched again. "Speak clearly. Or else..."
Envi took a deep breath. He looked first at Serena, and began to speak—his tone soft, heartfelt, yet utterly composed.
"Serena... I love you," he said, gazing into her eyes. "You’re strong, kind, and so intelligent. From the moment I first met you, I felt something. I... fell for you instantly."
That smug, sincere look on his face made me want to punch myself. He was using my face to look that handsome and earnest while saying those words.
And it worked.
Serena’s cheeks turned pink. She looked down, her fingers fidgeting slightly.
"...I love you too, Naoki," she whispered.
My heart nearly stopped. I wanted to be happy hearing that—but not like this!
Then Envi turned to Amelia.
"Amelia... you’re incredible. You’re kind, brave, unique... and I’ve seen how deeply you care for me. You even risked your life to protect me..."
Amelia looked down, tears beginning to well up in her eyes.
He continued, "Yes, I love Serena... deeply. But when I heard you had fallen into a coma, my heart stopped. I was terrified of losing you. That was the moment I realized... I didn’t want a world without you in it. I love you, too."
He said it with such conviction, such quiet charisma, that even I had to admit—it was kind of powerful.
Okay, it was very powerful.
Amelia let out a soft sob, smiling through her tears.
"I love you too, Naoki... truly. I always have."
Envi pulled them both in tighter, holding them close.
And all I could do was sit there in the System Realm, watching this romantic spectacle unfold with a face full of mixed emotions—shame, disbelief, and reluctant admiration.
"Damn it, Envi," I muttered under my breath. "You’re a total playboy."
Slowly, Envi released the embrace, stepping back as he turned to face both Serena and Amelia, who now stood side by side.
Across the room, King Aslan and Sieg-sama continued to observe in stunned silence, as if words had entirely escaped them.
Then—without a trace of hesitation—Envi lowered himself down into a kneeling position. The kind of pose someone makes right before confessing their heart to the woman—or women—they love.
He gently took Amelia’s left hand in his left and Serena’s right hand in his right.
My heart nearly stopped.
"Envi, you absolute maniac—what the hell are you doing now?!" I shouted from inside the System Realm, desperately trying to stop him. But again, he ignored me like static on a broken radio.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse...
Runa, watching from within the Grimoire, was now practically losing her mind with excitement. She looked like a fangirl witnessing her favorite love triangle reach its peak.
Meanwhile, King Aslan started to grin. The man actually looked excited. His eyes sparkled like he was watching his favorite play unfold. Sieg-sama, on the other hand, looked ten seconds away from punching something. His brows twitched violently.
Over on the sidelines, Vivin, Mia, and Lyra were blushing—captivated by the unexpected romantic spectacle. It was like they were watching a live royal romance unfold before their eyes.
Then came Sieg-sama’s voice, sharp and suspicious. "Naoki, what are you doing?! Don’t tell me you’re about to—"
But it was already too late.
With a steady voice, Envi declared before everyone:
"Serena. Amelia. I love you both—with all my heart. I want you both... to be my fiancées. I want to build a family with the two of you!"
I think my soul literally tried to escape my body at that moment.
I screamed inside the System Realm.
"That was supposed to be MY line—to Serena! You bastard!" I collapsed in frustration, completely drained.
The entire room fell silent—so silent, you could hear a pin drop.
No one had seen this coming.
Not even King Aslan or Sieg-sama could react at first. Their expressions froze in place, a mix of disbelief and second-hand embarrassment.
Then, slowly, Serena and Amelia looked at each other.
They held each other’s gaze for a moment... and smiled.
It was a genuine smile. The kind of silent understanding shared between two women who had made a choice—together.
They turned toward Envi and nodded.
"We agree to accept that,, Naoki," they said in unison, their voices soft but full of conviction.
Serena smiled warmly, her cheeks still glowing red.
"I know we’ve only been dating for two days... but now we’re engaged.
And honestly... I’ve never been happier."
Amelia followed, her voice sweet and serene.
"I’m glad to be your fiancée again, Naoki. Truly—I’m happy."
"Thank you... both of you," Envi replied with a grateful smile.
He then gently raised their hands to his lips and kissed them.
Serena and Amelia looked away shyly, their cheeks bright red, but they still exchanged joyful glances with each other.
A shared happiness.
Meanwhile, King Aslan and Sieg-sama stood frozen for a moment longer. Then, surprisingly, they turned toward each other.
Their glares softened.
King Aslan exhaled and let out a booming laugh.
"Looks like we’re going to be one big family, Sieg!"
Sieg-sama sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Tch... That bastard. I can’t say anything if Serena’s okay with it..."
"Same here," the King chuckled.
And then—they smiled.
And just like that, it was decided.
Naoki von Blackmore would officially have two fiancées:
Amelia von Braveheart, daughter of King Aslan, the third princess of Braveheart Kingdom and
Serena von Winterfell, daughter of Duke Sieg, the Patriarch of Winterfell Family, the Hero of Winterfell Family.
With the approval and blessings of both royal houses, the engagement was formally accepted.
The official engagement ceremony was scheduled for two months from now.
King Aslan made it clear, however, that the kingdom’s safety came first—he would continue focusing on strengthening the royal barrier and training the heroes, including Serena and Amelia.
Both women agreed without hesitation.
So did Envi—of course.
They all laughed and chatted afterward, especially Serena and Amelia, whose faces glowed with joy. Envi stood between them, smiling.
From the System Realm, I muttered bitterly, arms crossed:
"You actually pulled it off, didn’t you...You damn bastard, Envi."
