Chapter 49: The Battle Of Fallen (1)

When Pebbles spoke the name, the Shaman was sure that Pebbles would have lost his name and powers.

Pebbles didn’t know much about it, but he was perplexed, thinking how foolish a mistake he had made.

However, his expressions were hidden under the mask, and to the Shaman, he simply looked composed, even after quite a few minutes had passed.

Pebbles was in no excruciating pain.

Just...

He let out a small chuckle and laughter, "Ha... hahahaha..."

And then he paused, almost as if suppressing it.

The Shaman couldn’t help but gulp hard.

The one she called the Supreme was just too strong. Maybe normal skills and blessings didn’t work on him... he was just that powerful. At least, that was from her perspective.

But Pebbles had felt a weird sensation in his chest, very close to his heart.

It was almost as if someone had tried stabbing him, but failed and ended up only tickling him.

However, he knew the matter was serious, especially when a notification popped up right after.

Ding!

[The boss of the tenth floor, Aegon, has killed your unnamed pet Stone Spider on the first floor.]

[483 Stone Spiders are in fear.]

[203 Stone Spiders pray that you save them.]

"Azeth."

"Azatoth."

And then he looked at the Shaman.

Azeth and Azatoth appeared almost instantly when their names were called.

They knelt in the background while Pebbles turned towards the Shaman.

"What was the name you lost?"

The Shaman lowered her gaze, feeling the electrifying situation at hand.

"I don’t remember. Names that are stolen are stolen from everything... identity, memories... and... blessings..."

Pebbles didn’t say much.

He sighed and turned around, "Follow me. I’ll help you regain your name."

Her eyes widened. Now she stared only at his back, a bit asymmetric as the left shoulder drooped lower, but she didn’t notice such things.

What she saw was the back of someone she could really rely on.

"Azeth, follow me to the dungeon. As for you, Azatoth, stay guard. Stay alert."

Azatoth knew that he had to take care of the goblins in his absence.

The Frog-Men could do a sneak attack, and now it was his responsibility to make sure that everything was alright and intact until Pebbles returned.

Nightstone crawled forward and was ready to accompany Pebbles, but he rejected it outright.

"Nightstone, accompany Azatoth."

Nightstone tilted her head to one side. She was cute, sure, but none of that mattered at the moment. And she knew that the moment her eyes caught a glimpse of Pebbles’ red glinting eyes.

She nodded in agreement and didn’t question.

Pebbles was ready to explain to her, but now there was no need.

"Good."

"Azeth, let’s go. Our target will be... Aegon."

Pebbles pointed towards the dungeon, and Azeth understood immediately.

For an instant, all three of them were present there, and then all three vanished.

A gust of wind followed, but that was all. There was silence after that.

Azatoth remained behind as he muttered, "May you return safely, master."

It took less than an hour, roughly 50 minutes, and all three of them were close to the entrance of the dungeon.

As usual, there were adventurers sleeping outside in tents, some on trees, and there were stalls with bright lights.

Pebbles had scoffed earlier, and he did so again now, especially when the Shaman mentioned, "If not for the dungeon and its presence, all the monsters in the forest would have made a feast out of them."

She was not just stating a fact. It was as if she wished for it to happen. Pebbles could feel her hatred.

Azeth nodded, "Absolutely."

It was clearly visible. There were small dragons pulling a few carts. They were bipedal slaves, larger and made to do such tasks.

And there were others carrying things into the dungeon. They were called Porten Dragonlings.

More than thirty were visible in a single glance.

But Pebbles, Azeth, and the Shaman did nothing except enter the dungeon through the secret pathway.

It was the second floor... the graveyard where they arrived.

Since the Gravers had been liberated, there was no one here.

The Shaman showed visible surprise at the place.

Gasps and appreciation filled her mind.

’So this is the famous dungeon... the Womb Of Endings...’

It was one of the eight wonder dungeons in the Terrain Of Eltha.

It was also the most mysterious of them all, as it was the only dungeon whose gate never opened.

Secret doors were present, but not many had found them. And those who did had become prey to the Undead Shaman.

Having entered the second floor, they could gaze into the first floor easily after walking a few steps.

The entrance was large enough, and the view was clear as the fog had lifted.

As all three looked ahead, there it was... the corpse of a small stone spider, many others lying motionless beside it in a circle, and others that had formed webs around them as if protecting themselves.

Pebbles took a deep breath before starting a small sprint, and soon, when he arrived at the entrance, he looked at them.

There were two lizard-like beings that stood on two legs, both identical to each other.

Except one was bleeding green and blue blood, covered in injuries.

When the three entered, both turned their way and noticed Pebbles, who wore a mask, Azeth, who looked alien, and the Shaman, who looked extremely familiar.

Aegon, the one who stole the name, stood unscathed as a grin sat on his face, "Well well, who do we have here?"

The Shaman gulped hard.

You know, traumatic experiences are one of the worst things in existence.

They wound you, leave you impaired, and even when you go far away, make sure that you remain broken, never daring to think about them... and if you did, you’d experience all of it again, either in mind or reality.

The Shaman’s staff started to tremble along with her tiny hands. Her tail was stiff. As for her lower jaw, it never stopped quivering.

She was breathing heavily, and it felt as if she could fall at any moment.

She tried to look at Pebbles’ reliable back again, but her gaze was too blurry.

She gasped and gasped, but no air reached her lungs.

Fear had gripped her heart completely, and...

"You’ve come to break again?" he slurped.

...she would break...

Except...

Azeth instantly moved his hand and gripped hers tightly.

There was little warmth, but it was enough.

The Shaman lowered her gaze and looked at Azeth’s hand holding hers. Then she raised her gaze and looked at his face... his eyes.

Azeth stared right at the bastard as a low growl escaped him.

Pebbles tilted his head left and right, then straightened, "Who among you is Aegon?"

The injured one was ready to point at himself, but Ryenar simply blurted it out.

"That’s me. What’s that got to do with yo-"

BOOM!

Ding!
