Reincarnated As A Dragon With Cheats-Chapter 26: Sacrifice (3)
Chapter 26: Sacrifice (3)
The Grave Shaman that had evolved into Undead Shaman Lv.25 now stood face to face with Azeth Lv.25.
Not a whole lot of difference in levels, but the Shaman had evolved twice.
The Shaman pointed his left hand forward with his index finger extended.
Azeth instinctively jumped back.
A circle had formed right in front of him the instant the finger was pointed.
From it came vines with thorns as an addition.
Thanks to him reacting quickly, the vines just barely touched his scales. But they kept growing.
They thrashed like whips and chased Azeth.
If it was Pebbles, he wouldn’t be quick enough to outrun them.
Azeth could.
[Speed: 70]
But he didn’t want to.
When Azeth was born, the Primordial one blessed him with certain skills.
Pebbles grinned at the skill set.
He didn’t question the Primordial one, nor did he question the skills Azeth received.
He just felt a hint of jealousy.
He also wanted skills like these, ones that represented the very dragon pathway.
[Azeth’s Skills:]
1. Dragon Breath Lv.1
2. Madness Lv.1
3. Blast Of Chaos Lv.1
4. Purge Lv.1
Pebbles could see and feel what Azeth was doing.
Especially Azeth’s heartbeat.
He was calm.
The movement of the vines appeared dead slow as Azeth used his first skill.
Ding!
[Your Avatar Azeth has used the skill Dragon Breath Lv.1]
Azeth opened his mouth wide, revealing his black teeth that almost couldn’t be seen due to the darkness his mouth contained.
And then, a small orb seemingly formed between his jaws.
This orb levitated a bit above his tongue.
It kept getting bigger and, as it did, it moved a bit forward and settled right in front of Azeth’s mouth.
And then it launched.
Flames that were blacker than the night sky devoid of stars, flames that could burn away magic itself...
The Black Flames of Chaos erupted out of Azeth’s mouth.
The blast was so powerful and hot that the vines, for how weak they were against fire, got erased from reality.
Even the ashes that usually got left behind had vanished.
The air surrounding Azeth reverberated, with the ground below him cracking simultaneously.
And the magic circle that was pouring vines out got destroyed the moment it came into contact with the flames. It too got burnt away.
The Undead Shaman flinched, but he flinched only after appearing right behind Azeth.
While Azeth had been busy for that tiny second fighting off the vines, the Undead Shaman used his skill [Greater Teleportation] and managed to sneak behind him.
The scythe had been drawn up.
The feeble bones that Pebbles had once seen were now sturdy and longer.
These bones could now generate a strike that was at least twice as strong as before.
Yet, when the scythe was swung and hit Azeth on his back, Azeth merely stared back with one foot on the ground.
As his second foot touched the ground, he simply held the scythe in his right hand and exerted quite a bit of force.
The scythe crumbled.
The sharp blade now bit dust while its handle remained in the Shaman’s hand.
Its lower jaw quivered as it too landed on the ground.
Raising its head, it now stared at Azeth, who spoke just one thing.
"Your choice. How do you want to die?"
Fear crept in slowly while the Shaman tried to run faster.
He had used Greater Teleportation five times in a row and was already a kilometer away.
Azeth stayed back.
He turned around and walked closer to the Bone Cage.
Inside it was Nightstone, who had crawled up into a corner.
Azeth moved his claws forward and, with just a simple touch, the cage shattered into pieces.
When Nightstone noticed Azeth, she felt a familiar presence. But the amount of magic contained within him terrified her.
She closed all her eyes shut and waited to die, only reminiscing about the little time she got to spend with Pebbles.
Yet, when a few seconds passed...
and she opened her eyes, she noticed—
Azeth knelt with one leg and extended his right arm ahead.
"Senior, Master sent me to rescue you."
Nightstone blinked a couple of times. Then she proceeded to blink a few more times, as if blinking anymore would change what she had heard.
"Master? You mean, Master Master!?"
Azeth didn’t chuckle at her, but he gave a small smile of respect.
"Yes. Please come with me, Senior. Master is waiting for you on the first floor."
You see, it is the law of the world.
If you are strong, then rules are made according to you. And even if they aren’t, you can simply break them.
Because who is going to stop you?
Pebbles remained on the first floor, admiring his new form.
His premature defects still hadn’t fixed themselves, and he looked even uglier due to the worsening of his proportions.
However, he took this opportunity to get a certain thing.
When he evolved, it had triggered an achievement.
Ding!
[You are the first dragon to have evolved in the last 800 years.]
Ding!
[100 Karma Points have been added.]
[1000 Merit Points have been added.]
And with these points, he had bought a certain item from the store.
[Item: Dragon Mask]
[Grade: E]
[Category: Decoration And Aesthetics]
[Description: A mask made to fit a Dragon’s face. The design changes according to the user.]
[Effect: Suppresses any aura and killing intent of the wearer.]
[Cost: 99 Merit Points]
A dragon is supposed to look majestic. But Pebbles decided this much was enough for now. At least, he didn’t want to be called hideous.
Pebbles then turned back and looked at the small rock platform after wearing the mask.
He then sat on it and gave an order.
"Azeth."
The words reverberated in Azeth’s mind just as he was introducing himself to Nightstone.
"Yes, Master?"
Nightstone tilted her head when she heard Azeth speak.
"Could you not kill, but drag the Grave Shaman to the first floor?"
"Command accepted, Master."
Only if the Shaman knew what was incoming for him now, he would have committed suicide.
...
But he was Undead now...
