Chapter 97 - Healing The Injured Part2

Everyone gulped and hesitantly looked around. Just a few hours ago, these people had all been whole and healthy, still alive. But now…

Breaking the ominous silence, suddenly a low broken voice sounded from a corner.

"You… You… aha ha ha ha. You are all still fine. Aha ha ha ha."

Lu Chen, Guan Ye, and the others turned around to look and saw Bing Che sitting near a pole.

He seemed to be laughing like a lunatic but his eyes were reddened and tears were streaming down his cheeks.

And when they took a closer look, they couldn't help but gasp in shock.

Both of Bing Che's legs had been cut off or rather the legs were still there but they were smashed into an unrecognizable pulp.

Blood was still slowly dripping from the half mashed thighs and his femur was sticking out.

How could he still be laughing while he was suffering through this inhumane pain? Everyone was dumbfounded.

Bing Che was someone who had awakened extreme agility burst as his special ability but now his legs were completely destroyed.

They looked at him pitifully. No one knew what to even say or how to help.

"Don't look at me like that…" Bing Che chuckled wryly… "At least I am not dead yet." His words sounded hollow.

Lu Chen quickly moved forward and grabbed one of the goblin heads in his hand. He used the neck part to touch Bing Che so that he could absorb the mana core.

He didn't know how much this could help but right now this was all that they had access to. None of them had even a little bit of experience in the medical field.

So how were they supposed to treat an injury like this? Experienced surgeons would probably find it difficult to deal with a situation like this.

The mana core dissolved into Bing Che's body, but he still looked as listless as ever.

Lu Chen sighed and took another goblin's head to once again give him a mana core, but Bing Che lifted his hand slowly and stopped him. "Don't waste this on me. I am already dead."

"It's alright. Take this one and hang on. Our body's natural regeneration has definitely increased. You will be able to recover soon."

"Huh? So are you telling me that my legs are going to grow back?"

Lu Chen opened and closed his mouth wordlessly, unable to answer him.

"We will see if we can find some doctors or hospital." Letting out a long sigh, he tried to console him, though he was aware that chances of something like that happening were very slim.

Bing Che did not bother responding anymore. He simply looked down as if he did not care whatever was being done to him.

Xu Meilin as well stepped forward and helped Lu Chen. Since she was not very useful when it came to fighting she wanted to make up for it by doing other things.

The girl was a bit timid by nature and couldn't even look directly at the injuries, but she clenched her fists and did the best she could.

"Mei Mei. Why don't you and Alex go and help those… jus take care of those women there." Lu Chen muttered.

Bing Che shivered as he heard those words and more tears streamed out of his eyes. He had personally watched the goblins rape those women for hours together, one after the other.

He lifted his hands and clutched his head, unwilling to remember the nightmarish torture.

"It's fine now. We are here. We took care of all of the goblins." Lu Chen reminded him.

"I never should have let you guys leave. I am so sorry. This is all my fault… If only I had fought back. I am so sorry. We were too greedy."

"But this…"

"This punishment is… Ahhhhhh!!!!!" He screamed clutching his head.

Lu Chen sighed. "It's alright. Don't talk about the past anymore. Even if you hadn't made us leave, we would have left anyway."

"It looks like it is dangerous to linger in huge groups."

Bing Che blankly stared ahead. He had no words left to say. He only had regrets.

Whatever Lu Chen said was probably true but ultimately, if they hadn't been greedy and acted like that, they would not have suffered like this. That was the truth.

They knew that Lu Chen's group and their pet beast had done the lion's share of work in bringing down the boas. However, they were foolish enough to think that they were now safe and wanted the treasures all for themselves.

And in the end, everything had backfired.

If only they hadn't… if they had truly accepted these people and fought side by side with them…

But it was already too late.

"Can you tell me what happened here?" Lu Chen slowly asked, even though it would probably be torturous for the other person to answer him.

He had to. There was no other option. In order to prevent this same thing from repeating ever again, he wanted to know the full story and all the details.

Bing Che nodded and answered him. "After you guys left, we were just normally cooking the snake meat and having our meal. We had… We had patrol guards as well outside…"

"But it was no use. Everything was useless. It was all useless." He shivered. It was too painful to remember everything. He felt as if the nightmare was repeating all over again.

"At first, there were these mosquitoes…"

"Huh? Mosquitoes?" Lu Chen was confused.

"Yes. A big swarm… like hundreds and hundreds of mosquitoes… they were everywhere. I think they had some kind of poison."

"Because we were alert. In the beginning, we fought back and killed them… we killed most of the bugs and elder Shen he…"

"From the snake's venom sac, he made an antidote. Everything was fine. We survived those mosquitoes… but there were more and more coming."

"We just couldn't put up with their numbers and just when we were thinking that everything was over, the mosquitoes suddenly left and then… ahhhhh!"

He screamed just at the thought of that terror. Bing Che panted and wheezed. He was hyperventilating.

"It's alright. It's alright. You are safe now." Lu Chen sighed and once again patted him. He also helped him absorb another mana core.

He didn't want to make him explain anything anymore. He sort of understood what might have happened.

"So the goblins attacked you guys after you were considerably weakened by the mutated mosquitoes?"

Bing Che nodded after calming down a little.

"These alien creatures are not only strong, but they can work in coordination, listen to commands and make use of strategies. They have higher intelligence than just mutated beasts."

Lu Chen then stood up and patted Guan Ye. "Brother, can you check if there is any usable vehicle nearby? It's best if we move from here fast. These many corpses and the stench of death…"

"Something else might come…"

Guan Ye nodded. "Hmm… I agree. It's best to get out of here fast." He then quickly dashed to find any vehicle that they could potentially salvage.

If not, he decided to simply run all the way to the mansion where they had stored their trucks and drive them over here.

Though it was risky to stray away from the group, he had the ability to become invisible so he wasn't too concerned about his own safety. Besides, he wanted to help these people. Even if it was just a bit.

Not just Guan Ye but no one right now was even thinking about how these people had betrayed them.

Whatever they did, they had already received punishment for that and then some more and the day wasn't even over yet!

After hearing Lu Chen's words, everyone began to quickly tend to the injured people.

Alex and Xu Meilin took care of the women who were alive and helped them absorb a few mana cores first to recover some of their strength and stamina.

Most of the survivors had been heavily injured and were only an inch away from dying. So even after sparing them a couple of mana cores, their condition did not change much.

They could only wrap their battered bodies in clothes and move them all together to one side of the stadium which was relatively cleaner and free of corpses.

Luo Zu stood guard to this group, while also simultaneously keeping an eye on Su Yan. He no longer dared to remain haughty even on the inside.

The very thought that this could have been his plight as well if he didn't follow his gut feeling haunted him to no end.

He repeatedly looked at Su Yan's unconscious body and inwardly prayed to him like he was his family deity. 𝙛𝑟𝑒e𝘸𝑒𝗯𝘯𝗼𝘃el.𝒄𝒐m

He could tell that if not for them needing another person to look after this unconscious person, they would have never accepted him in the first place.

"My great great great grandfather. Please always remain this way so that I can take care of you…" He shook his head helplessly and gazed at the Su Yan.
