Chapter 41: Volume 2. Chapter 41

Back to the present...

Talibon, Bohol

Florence took a deep breath as he finally finished healing these people who arrived at the camp. Their injuries were severed as if they just went to a terrible battle. If they didn’t return just now, these people would be already gone.

"Florence," Florence turned around when his name was being called.

It was Monica, she was carrying a pitcher and a plate of dish. "Thank you for healing them. You should eat first." Then she placed it at the top of the table besides the bed.

"Thank you, Mil... Ah... Monica..." He sometimes forget that people in this world was used to more informal speech unless they were talking to someone older than them. That was when they used honorifics. But Freyah, always kept the distance and used honorifics to him.

People also asked, why Freyah kept calling him, His Highness or why he was calling her Lady Freyah, or Milady. But Freyah simply answered back, because he was a cosplayer who was serious about his role as a prince.

It seemed people found this acceptable. Since they didn’t ask further after that. And when he asked what was a cosplayer is? They were people who mimicked or dressed up the same clothings of fictional characters from a play or story they had read or watch.

This world was truly full of a lot of unique things that would be strange on his world.

"How’s their condition?"

"They are stable now." Florence picked up the spoon

Monica sighed. "If not for you here, we have lost a lot of lives now."

"Where is Freyah?"

"She is with the lass that came with together with these people." Monica looked at the people who seemed sleeping in the bed now. Though their hands and feet were tied and their mouth was covered with cloth.

Until they regained consciousness and made sure that their condition is good, they would remained bound for the meantime.

"I’m really curious. What do you think of Freyah?" Monica looked into Florence’s golden eyes. They already asked about this, and she knew already that it was not fake even the color of his hair.

Someone who came inside a novel. Aside from Monica, only Harley and Gwenette knew about the real identity of Florence.

"She is my benefactor of this world. And she promised me that she will look for a way for me to return to my world." Florence said as he started eating the meal prepared for him. It was a corn beef, scrambled egg and garlic rice.

"I have read the novel you came from. It’s interesting truly. A world filled with magic and many things that is just a figment of imagination in our world." Monica said. "Honestly, I’m a bit jealous. Since I was young, I always dream that I would get absorb to such world. Go wield some unbeatable magic and make name for myself while having three to four husbands."

"Three to four husbands..." Florence smiled wryly.

"Surprisingly, your world is much more conservative with having only one husband and wife for a lifetime." Monica said. "Well, that doesn’t matter anymore, really."

"But when I met Freyah and Gwenette... You know, I realize that there are things I can’t replace no matter what world you will be. With those two, we have our own adventures, it’s not as grand as having magic but it’s fun nonetheless."

"You are all friends since childhood from what I heard." Florence said. "What does Freyah like when she is a child?"

"Hoh..." Monica grinned inside her mind. "Freyah, maybe because she is the eldest of all her siblings, she is more mature than any of us. She scolded us harshly if we do something but also take charge when she thought of something fun to do but ends up in trouble."

"Like?"

"Well, like, we don’t really experience any snow in our country. But one time we watch this movie where children are throwing snowballs at each other. The next day with other kids on the area, Freyah declared that we will all have a snowball fight but the thing is we will use stones covered in paper. Then we have our own bases to defend our selves."

"Real stones? Isn’t that too dangerous?"

"I know right. Thinking about that. Freyah even were thankful that no one got hurt that day other than we were scolded. Freyah always say how can she come up with something dangerous like that."

Monica laughed out loud. "We always tease her about that too. But..."

"Is there something wrong?"

Monica looked down, sighed and took the seat to another vacant wooden stool. "Before the day of the apocalypse, we are actually having a dinner together. Enjoying milk tea to our usual milk tea shop, the three of us were having fun and gossiping our daily lives. But the next day... When we met Freyah again just a few hours before the apocalypse... Her gaze is different. The usual spark and bored gaze we just seen yesterday was change to something that we can’t even fanthom. And the moment, that she told us that she came from the future... it broke our heart, truly, because she seems to be in a lot of pain." Monica stood up. "Why am I telling you all of this, might you ask?"

Florence, "is it because I ask what she is like when she is young?"

"There is that." Monica said. "But when it comes to the matter of the apocalypse, it seems she confides on you more than anyone else than us. That is why Gwenette and I sometimes felt jealous of you, Florence. We are her closest friends and yet sometimes she can’t trust us enough to discuss all of this together. Please continue to support her, both I and Gwenette begged of you this, your highness."

Monica turned around and bowed down. Florence was a bit flustered. Then sighed. "You don’t need to bow down to me. If you read where I came from, I’m not even a prince. But do not worry, I made a vow to Freyah that I’ll support her and she will support me in exchange too. You don’t need to beg for it because it’s something I already decided since the beginning."

"Monica! Florence!" The door burst open revealing Gwenette. "Come outside and take a look at the sky!"

Monica and Florence ran outside. And the moment they did, Florence felt a familiar presence that should had not existed anymore.

Florence looked above, the sky was painted in red. Then there was a sphere like object in the middle of the high skies.

"Where’s Freyah?" Florence asked.

"She ran away with Paula earlier." Gwenette said. "What is that thing in the sky now?"

"Monica, Gwenette, evacuate everyone. Then call Harley and Mr. Eman..."

"Do you know what is that Florence?"

"I don’t know yet. But I’m sensing a demonic energy on that sphere right now. The same demonic energy from my world."

"That doesn’t sound good at all." Gwenette pulled Monica. "We will do as you say! Don’t do anything reckless at the moment." Then Gwenette ran to ring the emergency bell in the middle of the village. An emergency signal for evacuation.

Florence was left alone. He brought out the daggers he got from the few raids they had. ’That form and sphere is something that will only appear at the awakening of a demon.’

"Your highness, you are here."

Florence felt a cold wind behind him. "Lady Lima. You’re here."

"Yes." Freyah’s voice was unfeeling. When Florence looked at her, her eyes were glowing red as she glanced at the sphere up the skies.

"It’s a demon you say." Freyah said. "A demon... Now that’s a bit interesting. It’s that girl from before. That girl, Paula."

"Did you do something to her?"

"I was just going to bring her down to the prison at the foot of the mountain to confine her there for the meantime. But then a strong force like a wind suddenly threw me over. And the next thing I knew Paula disappeared in my shoulders and she was flying high above the skies."

"So how do we bring down a demon?" Freyah asked. "For that, she is at the verge of awakening right now. We need to make sure that she will not awakened by purifying the spear."

"Purification. Then only you can stop that right now with your healing magic." Freyah said.

"Yes. But the casting time will take some time."

"Is there something that I need to do?"

"Yes. I’m not sure if it will be the same with this world. But with a demon awakening, demonic monsters born from it’s energy will emerge protect it."

"Ate Freyah!" Harley and the others arrived.

"Do the purification now." Freyah said. "Harley, Sir Eman, everyone, surround Florence and protect him from now on."

Freyah jumped up to the roof then jumped to the nearest tree to jumped high in the skies. That where her eyes squinted.

Coming towards the village sturdy walls, were hordes of zombies. A wave of dark energy was surging from the sphere.

Freyah also read this, at each wave demonic monsters would appear. But it was casting wave after wave but no monsters appearing from it’s energy... Instead... It was attracting these hordes of zombies mostly through the whole area.

Freyah landed back at the tree. They never skipped a day cleaning the area of zombies but to think that there were still many zombies were left?

It seemed the zombies were the replacement for the demonic monsters. Freyah grinned. Freyah jumped down and saw that Florence already began his chat. Multiple magic circles were now surrounding him.

"Sir Eman, a horde of zombies are coming. Defend the walls like we always trained, Harley, Cheral and Cherylyn protect Florence until he finished the magic to get rid of that thing in the sky. And I am going to go to Uncle Thomas and I’ll return back right away."

With that said, Freyah immediately ran outside the walls.
