Regressing Through the Apocalypse with the Third Male Lead-Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Five days ago...
A few hours after the apocalypse...
"Look at this. Someone posted this." One girl, who was in her teens showed the phone towards her friends.
’They are my classmates." Paula simply buried her head on the paper. She was still finishing her assignments for the next day.
"Safe place for an apocalypse."
"It seems the one who posted this plan to be a writer or something."
Though Paula didn’t want to listen to their ramblings, since her table was behind them, she could still hear them.
"Let’s go now. I want to buy some coffee." The girl with the phone stood up. Then the one with her followed her immediately.
The two girls looked at her then simply walked passed. Paula sighed. ’They were classmates, yet they acted as if they didn’t know me or saw me.’
It was nothing new really. During her grade school years. Making friends was very easy for her. However, she couldn’t understand it herself, that once she turned highschool, everything was just too difficult for her.
She tried for the first few weeks. But before she knew it, she was alone always during lunch and recess.
When there were groupings, she was always picked up last and it was also hard finding partner. She became a complete outcast.
Until she got used to it. She was now in her second year of highschool. It was not really something peculiar. With all the social media and easy access to every kind of information.
She knew and understand that there were many just like her in the same situation around the world. An outcast.
But that was it. Even if she knew, there were many out there experiencing the similar things she experienced, nothing really changed.
For her two years of highschool she remained an outcast.
"Apocalypse." Paula opened her phone and checked the social media. The first thing that she saw was the trending post of today.
---
The apocalypse begins today at 7 PM. These will be the safest places in Luzon:
1. NAIA Terminal 3 Airport – I will wait there for you for five days.
2. PMMA in Pangasinan.
3. The Batanes Group of Islands.
Avoid the military camp in Fort Santiago. Eight days from now, it will be destroyed by an evolved monster resembling a lizard. If anyone from the military sees this message, the monster’s weakness is fresh water—not fire.
I’ll post my next message on Day 2 of the apocalypse. Survive."
---
Her eyes was glued on her phone as she read the post on her phone. There were over 1000 reactions and most of it was laughing emoji. Then a few hundred repost.
It was just posted 30 minutes ago. Paula clicked the profile of the one who posted. But there was nothing to it, no posts or anything. But the account was created since 2019. And the one that they posted was only today.
"Frey 5."
That was also the name of the account holder. And on their profile picture was just a hand with a smiley, sad, and inlove emoji drew to it by pen.
Why did I even bother?
She turned her phone off. Then she began finishing her last remaining assignment. During weekends, Paula loved doing her assignments in the tree park which was a kilometer walk from her house.
Then if she had nothing to do, she just loved staying there until the sunset. This place was better than her house or the school.
Meow. Meow.
Three cats caressed her feet. "You’re here. Do, Mi, So." This was also the second reason why she loved to stay in this place. Because of these three cats. Her only friends.
She put a cat foot to each of the bowls that she brought with her allowance.
Weeeewoo!
Weeeewoo!
She was startled by the sudden alarm that surrounded out of nowhere. That alarm was the alarm resounded signalling the curfew at 11pm. That everyone should be home and no minor should be out of the streets unless they were accompanied by their parents or guardian.
"Everyone. This is an emergency! Return to your home now!"
Several police mobiles roamed through the streets. The people on the park were confused including Paula.
Then a police mobile stopped in front of the park and came out. "Please return to your home now."
"What’s happening?" One of the people in the park asked.
"There is a nationwide emergency. For everyone’s safety, return to your home immediately." The people was still confused and some were a bit scared.
Paula sighed inside her mind. With those words from the police, they would only cause distress to the people. She picked up her things and went out of the park.
"I’ll see you the next day..." She turned around to say goodbye to her cats, but they were no longer in sight. "They must have been scared by the siren."
She thought then immediately went to the exit of the park and walked ahead to her house. She reach her house, after 15 minutes of long walk.
When she opened her house, there were no one there. "I guess, they are still at the church." Paula said then grabbed some bread and filled it with peanut butter, before proceeding to her room.
Two hours later...
She heard the door opening with a bang. Followed by angry shoutings.
"They’re back huh." Paula thought as she just simply continue streaming to her shows. And making the volume louder.
Several moments later...
"Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t."
Paula was watching the movie that she saw in the reels. She was engrossed to it and amazed at the same time. Wishing that if she could be as expressive and confident of the lead in the movie, then life would be easier to her.
Swoosh.
All of the sudden her phone screen went dark like it was out of battery. But not only, the lights and every electricity in their house went off.
"Brownout!"
She could hear the neighbors screaming outside. She immediately stood up from her bed. And tried to reopen her phone. She just checked the battery a couple of minutes ago, it was still around 70 percent. And it was connected to the charger.
She removed the charger and pressed the on button. But it was still not working. She stayed like that for a couple of minutes. Then her gaze went outside the window, her eyes widened.
There was a bright light in the sky. Followed by a loud explosion. That shook the grounds.
At that exact moment, every power and electricity returned. Then her eyes went immediately to her phone when she heard a ding notification sound.
7:00 pm.
The post earlier crossed her mind. She immediately opened her social media and typed in apocalypse.
The first thing that was now trending there was the post earlier.

As she reread the post, she heard multiple screams outside. She ran to her window to check what was going on.
Her eyes widened.
People were running for their lives. Other people was jumping those who were running and bit them as if they completely lost themselves.
"Zombie apocalypse."
She immediately ducked down, when one of the zombie raised it’s head towards her direction. She could also hear someone running to the stairs. She didn’t knew what came to her, but her gut feeling to her to lock the door immediately. She ran to the door and locked it right away.
And as soon as she did, someone started banging her door multiple times. She trembled as she looked around her. Then she immediately pushed the table to block the door.
Then she fell on her bed.
"This is really happening?" She trembled as she stared the door. She remained a quiet as she could be. For the banging to stop.
Then a couple of minutes passed, which felt like a very long time, the banging finally stopped. And she heard footsteps going away.
"Ahhh!!! Help!!" It was followed by a loud scream.
She covered her ears with her two hands as tears streamed down her eyes. Until, there were only just silence.
For a couple of minutes, she stayed like that trembling. Then she slowly reached for her phone.
But this time, as soon as she looked back at the post. Paula felt a warm sensation gushing through her veins. Then her eyes glowed with orange light.
Frey 5...
The name entered her mind. And as soon as it did, a lot of information went through her mind.
Freyah Lima.
’That was the name of the one who posted this.’
Then as if her mind got absorbed in the phone. She was even been able to see all the messages and calls Freyah made on her phone.
"Kill her,"
"Kill Freyah Lima."
A voice echoed in her mind.
"She will bring an end to your world."
Paula’s head ached when a voice suddenly spoke inside her mind.

3 days later...
"Kill her,"
"Kill Freyah Lima."
A voice echoed in her mind.
"She will bring an end to your world."
"They already confirmed that she is dead. Why aren’t you still stopping?" Paula shook her head.
"Kill her,"
"Kill Freyah Lima."
A voice echoed in her mind.
"She will bring an end to your world."
The voice in her head continue to speak more. "I can’t even detect her anymore..." Paula frozs. When an information entered her mind.
"They reported, she died already. How can she still send a text message?"
"Kill her,"
"Kill Freyah Lima."
"I know. Just please stop." Paula smashed her head multiple times on the wall. And and a few minutes, the noise finally stop.
"You should have just died already earlier, Freyah." She gritted her teeth and clenched her fist. ’This is driving me nuts.’
