Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 91: She Said She Would Love Him for a Lifetime
The dizziness was severe, and there was little strength left. After shouting twice consecutively, her vision blurred even more.
Just before she was about to faint, Raine didn’t think twice before taking out her phone and dialing Leon Grant’s number.
She didn’t contact her family for fear they might confront Jonas Hawthorne desperately... 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The only one who knew about her pregnancy and could help her conceal it was Leon Grant.
Jonas Hawthorne didn’t know who Raine was calling until he heard her say, "Leon, help me..."
She only managed to utter that sentence before she completely lost consciousness, her vision went black, and she started to collapse.
Jonas was feeling hurt because even at such a critical moment, she didn’t forget to reach out to Leon Grant. Especially that name, Leon...
Now she calls him by his full name.
Consumed by jealousy, he saw her suddenly faint, and without thinking, he instinctively reached out to protectively hold her in his arms!
"Raine?!"
Through the still-unhung phone, Leon Grant seemed to hear Jonas’s voice and became anxious, "Raine? What’s wrong? Where are you? I’ll come right over!"
Without thinking, Jonas coldly replied, "It’s none of your business!"
Then he ended the call.
"This..." Leo Keane stood there stunned, unable to react for a while, until Jonas’s urgent shout echoed in his ears, "Call the doctor quickly!"
"Oh... yes, yes!" He then turned and ran towards the reception desk.
In another flurry of chaos, by the time Raine was settled, half an hour had already passed.
When Leo Keane followed the doctors out of Raine’s ward, he saw Jonas sitting alone on a bench in the corridor.
His usually straight back was slightly bent now, diminishing his usual spirited demeanor, making him look so desolate...
Truth be told, Leo Keane had never seen Jonas like this.
Even when Candace Ford was on the brink of death earlier, Jonas remained exceptionally calm.
The difference between caring and not is perfectly clear.
Perhaps Jonas hasn’t realized his own feelings yet, but as an outsider who witnessed everything, Leo Keane had already noticed the signs.
He first fetched a bottle of water, then walked over to Jonas, "The doctor said she fainted because too much blood was drawn earlier, it’s nothing serious, just needs some glucose and a bit of rest. You don’t have to worry too much."
Jonas looked at the water bottle in front of him without lifting his head, his brows slightly furrowed, sinking into a long silence.
Seeing him like this, Leo Keane sighed again, "Candace and her child are temporarily out of danger as well, do you want to go see them?"
Conveniently, where they sat now was right between the two wards.
Raine was on the left, Candace was on the right.
It seemed like everything was prearranged by fate.
Jonas closed his eyes slightly, his handsome face full of exhaustion.
After a long while, he stood up and walked towards the left.
Leo Keane remained seated, not surprised at Jonas’s choice.
But he wondered when Jonas would finally confront his own heart?
What would become of these two women in the future?
——
When Jonas entered Raine’s ward, he immediately saw the woman lying quietly on the bed.
Her small face was so pale it was nearly transparent, as if she might completely vanish if not watched carefully...
An IV was attached to her fair-skinned hand, with the glucose slowly dripping into her body.
Yet she lay there quietly, as if everything outside had nothing to do with her.
Watching her silently, Jonas couldn’t help but reach out, gently caressing her cheek with the back of his hand, as gently as if he were touching a fragile porcelain doll.
A touch too heavy, and she might just shatter...
Thinking of her coldness earlier, at a difficult moment, she thought of Leon Grant first. The pain in Jonas’s heart was uncontrollable.
"Raine, have you really fallen for him?"
He didn’t know how he managed to ask that question, but hearing his own voice shocked even himself.
Was he really so concerned about whether she had fallen for someone else?
Back then, she had burst into his serene life like a storm, insisting on marrying him.
Back then, she had said she would love him forever...
How had that changed so quickly?
In just two short months, there were already other men around her.
One Mason Sullivan wasn’t enough, then came Leon Grant, and now even Finn Wyatt was helping her...
Each one of them seemed to challenge his heart.
But unfortunately, she was no longer his.
That indescribable feeling of loss gradually enveloped his heart.
"If you hadn’t agreed to the divorce that day..."
He murmured quietly, his tone full of melancholy.
But he left the sentence incomplete, knowing that past events couldn’t be changed.
Just like now, he had drawn so much blood from her to save Candace and her child.
How does he make amends?
Even all the money in the world couldn’t restore the feelings between them...
But he had no choice but to do it.
Two lives, he couldn’t just watch them die.
"Raine..."
Another involuntary call, Jonas’s deep eyes suddenly clouded with a thin mist.
He didn’t know why, but the sharp pain in his chest began to spread again!
He clenched his teeth, beads of sweat starting to form on his forehead from the pain.
Holding his heart with one hand, his body almost curled up from the agony.
He never knew that merely looking at someone could cause such heartache...
In her deep coma, Raine seemed to sense all of this, her brows furrowed slightly. Even in unconsciousness, she was so unsettled.
Outside the door.
Leo Keane sat for a little while longer, then saw Leon Grant rushing over from the other end of the hallway.
Both were startled, not expecting to run into each other there.
"Where is Raine?!" Leon’s first question was about Raine’s whereabouts.
In that previous call, Raine’s voice had been so weak and plaintive, along with Jonas’s roar...
He couldn’t help but worry about what had happened.
Fortunately, there was still the sound of hospital announcements vaguely heard over the phone. After making inquiries, it was found they were at the hospital.
"She... How did you know about this place?" Leo Keane was still bewildered, not expecting Leon to arrive so quickly, not even having thought Leon would find this place!
And seeing him that anxious, it really seemed like he cared for Raine...
Leon didn’t bother asking more and simply started searching room by room for the ward.
He quickly found Candace lying in bed, receiving a blood transfusion.
