Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Get in My Car

Before coming, her father had advised her that what Sean Ford valued was always capability.

The more people fawned on him, the less he thought of them.

While others would humbly lower themselves to ask for loans, she went the opposite way, elevating her status, implying that helping her would be an opportunity for him rather than a favor she’s asking...

And Sean Ford just happened to buy it, immediately furrowing his brow and falling into thought.

"This..."

The Sinclair Family’s power was evident, even if Raine was a spendthrift, she still had Evan Sinclair supporting her.

Besides, Sharon Jennings’ family was also well-established, and William Jennings would be even less likely to watch his granddaughter default on a loan. So, this loan was certain to be approved.

Just not knowing what Sean Ford was worried about, to the extent of wanting to put Raine through the hoops by requiring a guarantor, was one of the significant reasons for his hesitation.

Seeing that he wouldn’t budge after a long while, Raine softened her tone a bit and said gently, "I understand your concerns, Uncle. After all, in your eyes, I’m just a kid, and handling billions is certainly causing you some difficulty..."

Upon hearing this, Sean Ford’s attitude shifted. He waved his hand, saying, "I’ve watched you grow up. Over these years, you’ve learned a lot from being by your father’s side. Of course, I trust you!"

Hearing this, Raine knew her approach worked on Sean Ford, so she pressed on while the iron was hot, "Yes, my father often talks about the friendship he shared with you back then, telling me to treat you like a true father and give you gifts whenever I get him something!" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Raine Sinclair felt quite embarrassed saying these things.

Of course, Sean Ford could tell this little girl was trying to flatter him, but it was just comforting to hear!

"Hahaha!" He couldn’t help but burst into hearty laughter.

After laughing, his mood improved significantly, and with a better mood, discussions became easier!

"Girl, this loan, Uncle will approve it for you! But the repayment period, we can’t drag it out too long, understand that the bank is taking risks too, right?"

Sean Ford even changed the way he addressed Raine, increasingly fond of this little girl.

Capable, and with a sweet tongue!

Who wouldn’t like her?

Raine was delighted to hear the loan was approved, "Rest assured, Uncle, we can discuss the repayment dates and amounts slowly!"

"Alright, come to my place another day to sign the contract." Sean Ford nodded, finalizing the matter.

With the significant issue settled, Raine finally relaxed, "Thank you, Uncle!"

Raising her head to look at the distant sky, she suddenly felt even the clouds were so soft, like cotton candy!

The next moment, unexpectedly, she saw Jonas Hawthorne in the distance also looking in her direction.

She furrowed her brows lightly; how long had he been watching her?

Sean Ford also noticed Jonas Hawthorne’s gaze, contemplated briefly, then said, "Girl, you just said you think of me as a real father, so as a father, let me share some heartfelt words. During this ten minutes or so of our conversation, Jonas Hawthorne has been watching our direction, and I suppose he’s not looking at this old fellow, is he?"

The implication was clear: Jonas Hawthorne was looking at Raine.

If it was indeed hatred, finally ended after much difficulty, then why reminisce now?

One’s actions and words can lie, but their eyes cannot.

If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t glance even once.

Raine said nothing, maintaining her silence.

Seeing this, Sean Ford laughed, "Young people, you should sit down and talk things through calmly; better than regretting at my age, isn’t it!"

Upon hearing this, Raine instinctively asked, "Uncle, do you have any regrets?"

Otherwise, why such a deep reflection?

"Those are things of the past." Sean Ford sighed, a fleeting look of loneliness and sorrow passing through his deep gaze.

Having lived this long, who doesn’t have some regrets and pain in their heart?

Suddenly interested, Raine was about to continue probing when Sean Ford’s phone rang.

He stepped aside to answer the call, and after exchanging a few words, his face turned somber, "Girl, I have some matters to attend to and must leave. You come another day to sign the contract."

"Alright! Thank you, Uncle!" Raine nodded obediently.

Without saying more, Sean Ford turned and left.

It seemed something urgent had indeed come up.

Watching him leave, Raine then went to the lounge to change her clothes.

Her previous dress felt a bit tight...

She lowered her gaze to her abdomen for a moment, noticing her figure slowly changing...

A bit saddened.

Yet, as she gently caressed her belly, feeling the warmth, she suddenly smiled.

Inside was a little angel!

After adjusting her mood, she went to the parking lot, found her car, and drove away gently.

The car, initially running well, broke down just after leaving the golf course.

She checked the engine but couldn’t find the problem, so she had to call someone for a tow.

While waiting, it felt stuffy inside the car, so she got out to stand by the roadside for a while.

Fortunately, the environment here was nice and quiet.

Having spent so much time in the city, it was nice to relax once in a while.

However, before Raine could enjoy her rare moment of solitude, a car came from behind.

It was initially speeding but slowed down upon seeing the warning signs behind Raine’s car.

After passing her car, it unexpectedly pulled over.

Raine initially didn’t pay any attention but, seeing the car’s license plate after it stopped, her once relaxed face suddenly clouded over.

It was Jonas Hawthorne.

Why is it him again?

Feeling exasperated, she watched as he opened the car door and walked towards her.

It wasn’t pure coincidence that Jonas Hawthorne ran into Raine here.

He had been watching her at the golf course.

After seeing Sean Ford leave, and Raine no longer in sight, he assumed she must have left too, so he drove out.

Unexpectedly, he found her car stopped by the roadside.

"Broken down?" he asked, his tone calm, with no rise or fall, as if a divorce had never occurred between them.

Raine frowned, not replying.

Such an obvious situation, why bother asking?

Seeing her indifferent attitude, Jonas Hawthorne didn’t get annoyed. Instead, he offered, "Let me take a look."

He was about to check the driver’s seat but was stopped by Raine, "No need, I’ve called for a tow; it’ll be here shortly."

The cold tone immediately made Jonas Hawthorne stop.

He turned back, his intense gaze enveloping her.

After a while, he said, "Get in my car; let me take you home."

He seemed to enjoy it, ignoring whatever expression she wore.

But that precisely aggravated Raine.

She turned cold and asked him perplexed, "Jonas Hawthorne, what exactly do you want?"
