Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 59: All of This Should Have Been Hers!
Candace Ford was crouching by the door, vaguely hearing someone talking inside.
And the voice sounded very familiar...
But she was a bit puzzled; the people inside seemed to be speaking very softly.
Just as she leaned closer to hear more clearly, a sudden gust of evil wind blew up from who knows where, causing one of the decorative lanterns on the right side of the Hawthorne Family ancestral hall’s plaque to sway violently.
"Crack!" At that particular moment, the lantern was blown down, coincidentally landing beside Candace Ford’s feet.
Terrified, she screamed, "Ah!"
The sound caused Raine Sinclair within the hall to immediately stop talking and turn to look at the large door behind her.
Soon, Jonas Hawthorne’s voice came through, "Are you alright?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Raine Sinclair furrowed her delicate brows, instinctively sensing something.
Outside the door.
Jonas Hawthorne stepped forward and sized up Candace Ford, seeing that she was unharmed but the lantern on the ground had shattered.
Silas Linton also walked over, and upon seeing the situation, he frowned and took the opportunity to say, "Why did this lantern fall to the ground without any reason? Jonas, it looks like your grandpa doesn’t want this woman to go in. You figure it out yourself."
Candace Ford was already frightened and feeling wronged, and now Silas Linton came to add insult to injury...
Her nose tingled, and she instinctively wanted to reach out for Jonas Hawthorne’s hand, seemingly on the verge of tears.
"Jonas..."
But just as she extended her hand, the large door was pushed open.
Raine Sinclair came out, first swept her eyes over the three people before her, then fixed her gaze on Silas Linton, "Grandma, I’m done worshipping."
"Alright, alright, alright." Silas Linton looked at Raine Sinclair and instantly a smile appeared on her face. She hurriedly stepped forward to hold Raine Sinclair’s hand, "Raine, I think you don’t look too well, are you tired? You’ve lost weight! If your grandpa saw you, he’d say you weren’t eating well again!"
That’s what Derek Hawthorne used to say.
Raine Sinclair had always been thin, and every time he saw her, he’d ask if she didn’t like eating, and would tell her to gain some weight. Otherwise, she’d be nothing but skin and bones when she got old, making sleeping uncomfortable!
Candace Ford watched Silas Linton’s utterly different attitudes toward herself and Raine Sinclair, and the anger in her heart was even harder to suppress!
She glared at Raine Sinclair, thinking that all of this should have been hers!
All snatched away by this damn Raine Sinclair!
It seems as long as Raine Sinclair exists, she’ll never have a good day!
At this moment, Jonas Hawthorne’s gaze was also on Raine Sinclair.
Prompted by Silas Linton, he too realized Raine Sinclair had indeed lost a lot of weight...
But unfortunately, from start to finish, Raine Sinclair hadn’t glanced at him; she treated him like he was air.
In some place deep in his heart, a strange feeling arose.
Jonas Hawthorne’s brow remained furrowed.
Raine Sinclair was unaware of this, and she didn’t care at all, her eyes seemingly only seeing Silas Linton, "Grandma, I should get going."
"What’s the rush? Let’s have dinner together tonight? Your choice of place?" Silas Linton added this comment intentionally, wanting to assure Raine Sinclair that there would be no other plans this time.
But Raine Sinclair still refused, "Grandma, I have plans tonight, let’s arrange another time!"
She smiled as she spoke, then took steps forward, walking with calm confidence.
The stabilizing aura she unconsciously emitted, as if unaffected by a mountain collapsing infront of her.
Her unique temperament made Jonas Hawthorne’s eyes brighten.
His gaze involuntarily stuck to her, three parts compassionate, seven parts regretful.
Candace Ford turned on impulse, noticing the change in Jonas Hawthorne’s expression while he looked at Raine Sinclair, and immediately was filled with anger, clenching the small fists by her side!
Old lady Silas Linton always favoring Raine Sinclair was one thing, but now even Jonas Hawthorne, who she’d worked hard to keep close, was wavering!
Taking a deep breath, Candace Ford controlled her emotions, and said, "The other day, I didn’t get to thank Raine for taking me to the hospital! I’ll go thank her now."
Making an excuse, Candace Ford quickly chased after her.
This time, Jonas Hawthorne didn’t stop her, thinking she should indeed go to thank Raine.
Only Silas Linton snorted coldly, "If you wanted to say thanks, why wait until now? Why put on a show for us?!"
——
Walking ahead, Raine Sinclair heard hurried footsteps behind her and was about to turn back when she heard Candace Ford calling.
"Raine! Wait for me!"
Raine Sinclair, "..."
Why is this Candace Ford so clingy?
She had already gotten divorced, giving up the title of Mrs. Hawthorne, wasn’t that enough?
She intended to pretend she heard nothing, but Candace Ford boldly asked, "I seemed to hear you talking inside about Hawthorne’s blood? And something about peace, what were you talking about?"
Her steps suddenly stopped.
Raine Sinclair’s face turned pale instantly!
Could it be...
Everything she had said in front of Grandpa Hawthorne’s shrine was overheard by Candace Ford?
And her pregnancy, was it...
At that moment, Raine Sinclair clearly felt her blood freeze!
Her heart constricted urgently, and her limbs began to grow cold.
Raine Sinclair didn’t turn back, and soon Candace Ford was right in front of her.
"Why aren’t you speaking?" Raised her brows high, Candace Ford’s eyes were full of doubt.
She had heard Raine Sinclair speaking, but not clearly, and with the lantern falling so timely, scared her to the point of nearly losing her mind, she hardly remembered anything.
Seeing her like this, Raine Sinclair felt somewhat relieved.
Judging by this, she hadn’t heard anything crucial?
If that were so...
Raine Sinclair took a deep breath, suppressing any hint of fear or tension in her eyes, and calmly said, "What? I can’t ask Grandpa Hawthorne to bless your unborn child too?"
If anyone else said this, Candace Ford probably wouldn’t think much of it, but coming from Raine Sinclair, she instantly grew anxious!
She furrowed her features, glaring at Raine Sinclair, "You want to harm my baby? You’re cursing him?"
"When did I curse? Are you crazy?" Raine Sinclair rolled her eyes, suddenly feeling the woman before her was a bit unhinged?
"Let me tell you Raine Sinclair, whatever you have against me, come at me directly, if you dare harm my baby, I absolutely won’t let you off!" Candace Ford grew increasingly agitated!
Right now, the child in her belly was everything to her, anyone wishing ill upon her child would be eliminated!
Besides, she had snatched Raine Sinclair’s marriage, driven her away overnight, making her the biggest laughingstock in all of Sedonia, Raine Sinclair must hate her to the core, how could she bless her child?
Raine Sinclair reached to rub her forehead, feeling that arguing further would only worsen things.
But as long as Candace Ford wasn’t suspecting her, this matter was hardly worth bothering about.
"Not bothering with you." Saying this, Raine Sinclair planned to bypass Candace Ford.
Who would have thought, Candace Ford, in a rush, reached out to stop her, "No way!"
