Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 56: Do You Still Have Ties with Him?
After throwing out that line, Finn Wyatt turned on his heel and strode away with his long legs.
The secretary was left stunned, scratching the back of his head as he looked toward the direction where Raine Sinclair had disappeared, mumbling in confusion, "Is that woman really that formidable?"
Only after muttering did he realize that Mr. Wyatt had already walked far away, so he hurriedly chased after him.
"Mr. Wyatt! Please slow down!"
——
Sean Ford’s office.
Ever since Raine Sinclair had entered, he had been all smiles greeting her.
First, he was truly the one who messed up the timing; second, considering the Sinclair Family and Jonas Hawthorne, he had to treat this girl with due respect.
"Raine, about that loan you mentioned earlier, I did a preliminary evaluation, and 8.9 billion is really a bit much—you know, in recent years, the bank has already lent out quite a lot of funds..."
Saying no all while wearing a smiling face, the atmosphere didn’t feel all that tense anymore.
But Raine Sinclair’s face didn’t look as good.
"President Ford, compared to the interest that Sinclair Group has generated for Talon Bank over the years, this amount is not too much at all. What’s more, Sinclair Group will only develop better in the future, and will certainly have closer cooperation with your bank."
Her words sounded light, but in reality, she was reminding Sean Ford that Sinclair Group wasn’t limited to cooperating with just their bank.
There were plenty of great banks in Sedonia. If Talon refused this time, Sinclair Group would never come back to them.
Sean Ford naturally understood that, and quickly smiled again, "Don’t get anxious. It’s not that I can’t approve this loan, but you’ll need to find two guarantors."
"Guarantors again?" Mason Sullivan couldn’t take it anymore.
Sinclair Group is a huge company with so many industrial chains under its name—isn’t that guarantee enough already?
Raine Sinclair frowned too, waiting for Sean Ford to go on.
Wanting a guarantor was one thing, but two?
Was he looking down on Sinclair Group, or looking down on her?
Sean Ford knew that what he said would definitely upset Raine Sinclair, so he added at once, "Sinclair’s strength—I’m well aware of. It’s just that the bank has had a lot of delinquent loans lately, which is why this rule was suddenly put in place. I’m just following the rules.
These two guarantors can’t be any weaker than Sinclair Group. With the signatures of both, I can immediately disburse the funds to Sinclair—absolutely no further questions!"
The second half sounded nice enough.
Mason Sullivan got an idea. "So, if Leon Grant and my dad sign, we’re good?"
Raine Sinclair arched a brow at this, surprised by Mason’s quick response.
But Sean Ford looked troubled. "The Grant Family is fine, but your dad’s in telecom. That won’t do."
"So who, then?" Mason frowned, surprised he couldn’t help at all!
It was enough to make anyone furious!
Sean Ford looked at Raine Sinclair. "Jonas Hawthorne or Finn Wyatt."
The moment those words fell, the atmosphere among the three plummeted to freezing point.
Mason instinctively glanced at Raine Sinclair, and saw her watery eyes narrow, her face clearly darkened. He immediately made the decision for her, "Then let’s go with Finn Wyatt."
Jonas Hawthorne, that scumbag—she didn’t even want to see, much less ask him to be a guarantor.
Between the two, Finn Wyatt was the only option left.
Sean Ford looked at Raine, already knowing the reason behind it, so he nodded. "That works too. As soon as you have the guarantor signatures, I’ll get the loan approved immediately."
"You mean it?" Raine Sinclair asked again, uncertain.
What if by the time she got the signatures, Ford came up with another problem?
"Of course!" Sean Ford responded quickly this time, afraid that even a second of hesitation would make Raine back out.
In short, both guarantors were a must—no exceptions!
"Alright." Raine agreed, her delicate face calm and composed.
——
Leaving Talon Bank, Mason Sullivan started cursing again, still fuming.
"Is this president out of his mind? He knows about you and Jonas Hawthorne yet still wants you to ask him to guarantee?"
"So, it’s obvious he wants me to approach Finn Wyatt," Raine Sinclair saw right through it, sure that Sean Ford had arranged this from the start.
Why specify exactly two guarantors, not one or three?
He knew she would definitely find Leon Grant, which would leave just one spot open...
But why did it specifically have to be Finn Wyatt?
Coincidence—or deliberate arrangement?
Mason didn’t catch on to the implication, but instead started considering Finn Wyatt.
"I heard Finn Wyatt’s a strange guy, unpredictable, acts purely on his mood. If we ask him to be a guarantor, will he agree?" Mason muttered, then mumbled to himself, "But our family doesn’t have much to do with the Wyatts. How would we even make an introduction? Raine, do you know him?"
He hadn’t really expected anything, but to his surprise, Raine Sinclair answered, "I know him."
"What?" Mason was taken aback. "You’re actually acquainted? Why haven’t I heard you mention him before?"
Raine only fell silent, a mist rising in her eyes, masking the emotions in the depths of her heart.
"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Mason asked awkwardly, his tone hesitating.
He could tell something was off with Raine’s expression. Could it be there was some past grievance between her and Finn Wyatt?
"It’s nothing. I’ll go find him. I should be able to get it done." Raine snapped back to herself, not letting her emotions draw her in for too long.
Seeing her like that, Mason opened his mouth, about to say something, but then Easton Yancy’s call came in and he hurried off to answer it.
Seeing him walk aside, and no one else around, Raine took out her phone and pulled up Finn Wyatt’s contact info.
She hesitated for a long time, not dialing, when Silas Linton’s call came through instead.
She was stunned for a full three seconds before regaining her composure, beginning to hesitate again.
The last time Silas called her, it was a trick just to get her and Jonas Hawthorne together. Was it going to happen again this time...
After a long silence, she didn’t answer the call.
The ringtone quickly cut off, and she let out a breath of relief.
But not a minute later, the phone rang again.
Raine Sinclair’s brows knitted tightly. Maybe it really was something important?
After a moment’s thought, she finally answered.
"Grandma Linton?"
"Raine, you finally answered!" Silas Linton’s voice came through the line, filled with joy and an audible sigh of relief.
But Raine Sinclair had a bad feeling. "Is something wrong?"
"It’s like this, after what happened last time, I’ve thought about it a lot—Grandma didn’t think things through, please don’t be upset at me."
Silas Linton’s tone was tentative.
It made Raine Sinclair soften. "Grandma Linton, I’m not upset. Please don’t worry, it’s all in the past."
"That’s good, that’s good. Now I can rest assured." Silas continued to pat her chest with relief, then got to the point. "It’s nothing really... It’s just... today is your Grandpa Hawthorne’s death anniversary, and he doesn’t know about your divorce yet—he must still be waiting underground for you and Jonas to send offerings! Can you come back to the ancestral hall and light some incense for him?"
