Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 49: She’s All I Think About
The family turned their heads, looking towards the source of the voice, all momentarily stunned.
Evan Sinclair and Sharon Jennings were familiar with Mason Sullivan—the precious darling of the Sullivan family.
Leon Grant, on the other hand, had been dealing with Mason’s hostility lately.
Knowing Leon would be here, Mason came well-prepared, and upon seeing the two Sinclair elders, he immediately lifted his hands full of various supplements he had just bought, along with that flawless smile that seemed to light up from every angle!
"Uncle, Aunt, do you remember me? It’s been so long, I’ve really missed you! Just a small token, please don’t hold it against me!"
As the saying goes, you don’t hit a smiling face, especially when Mason comes with such sincerity. Evan and Sharon exchanged glances and smiled simultaneously.
Sharon even stood up to express her welcome, "Look at you, you didn’t have to bring so much."
"I had to! Auntie, this is bird’s nest prepared just for you! With your natural beauty, you must take good care of yourself!" Mason, sweet-talking, immediately took out a box of bird’s nest from his bag and handed it over.
His sweet talk brought endless joy to Sharon. "Oh, what a sweet talker this child is!"
After flattering Sharon, Mason presented a high-quality box of cigars to Evan, speaking flatteringly, "Uncle, knowing you love cigars, I specially prepared this for you! The king of cigars, Cohiba, originally from Cuba, smooth taste, the noblest of nobles, definitely matches your style!"
Evan’s eyes lit up as he quickly accepted it, "What a thoughtful nephew you are!"
Indeed, this is his one indulgence!
"Glad you like it, Uncle!" Mason grinned until his eyes were mere slits.
Having liked chasing after Raine Sinclair since they were kids, he knew the Sinclair family’s situation and the parents’ preferences inside out!
After pleasing Sharon and Evan, Mason finally had a chance to look at Leon Grant.
Just as Leon was looking at him, Mason lifted his chin proudly, glancing at the empty coffee table in the living room, guessing Leon didn’t bring anything, did he?
Mason snorted, as if saying: You don’t even understand basic etiquette, you’ve already lost!
Receiving Mason’s provocative gaze, Leon didn’t get angry; instead, he looked calm and composed, as if he completely dismissed Mason’s flattering behavior.
Seeing Leon’s indifferent look, Mason clenched his fists promptly!
Raine Sinclair, watching these two competing secretly, was also getting a headache.
She couldn’t figure out if the two were incompatible by nature since every time Mason saw Leon, he seemed to view him as a sworn enemy, going full force!
"Um... Mason, you haven’t eaten yet, right? Come, have a seat." Raine was really afraid Mason would roll up his sleeves and get physical, so she quickly called him over to sit beside her, summoning the maid to bring another set of utensils.
Hearing Raine’s concern for him, Mason obediently sat over, "Yeah, I came specifically to have dinner with Uncle and Aunt!"
"Hurry, there’s fish soup too!" Sharon also served him soup, growing more fond of him as he clung to her daughter.
Evan didn’t say much, but his worldly eyes kept scanning between Leon and Mason.
Both young men were great in their own ways!
One was steady, the other youthful.
One was deep, the other vibrant.
If he had to choose who to take as his son-in-law, it would be a tough decision!
Leon knew Mason’s intentions towards Raine, and seeing him rush over, it was clear he aimed to disrupt tonight’s situation.
But he wasn’t annoyed; it at least proved Mason wasn’t a complete fool. At least he had good taste in women, much better than that Jonas Hawthorne.
And indeed, Mason was starving, eating heartily, complimenting Sharon’s cooking skills as he ate, which delighted her to no end.
Raine, seeing him with soup at the corner of his mouth, acted like a big sister and helped him wipe it with a napkin, "Eat slower, I’m not stealing from you!"
"It’s too delicious!" Mason continued devouring his meal, fully embodying the innocence of youth.
Raine shook her head, turning back to meet Leon’s gaze.
Sticky and ambiguous, carrying some emotion.
Seeing it made Raine’s heart skip a beat, and she hastily averted her eyes.
Just as Mason, eating too fast, almost choked, "Water... quick..."
Raine quickly snapped back, grabbing a glass of water to hand over, an exasperated look on her face, "Didn’t I tell you to slow down?"
Mason was flushed, gulping down the water.
"Hahaha!" Evan laughed heartily, while Sharon helplessly shook her head.
For a moment, the Sinclair household was filled with joyful laughter.
The image reflected on the glass windows was one of happiness.
However, human joy and sorrow often do not connect. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Under the same night sky, at the Hawthorne family villa.
Candace Ford needed to be hospitalized for two days due to health reasons, leaving Jonas Hawthorne alone driving home.
The car was already parked downstairs, but he had no intentions of getting out.
Feeling somewhat weary, he leaned back in his seat, gazing at the dark, unlit building that felt cold as an ice cellar.
When Raine Sinclair was around, she always kept a row of windows lit.
Things he had grown accustomed to in the past two years had changed suddenly, leaving him a bit unsettled.
In a daze, Raine’s exquisite face seemed to flash before his eyes again.
Whether crying, sad, indifferent, or disdainful...
Every one of them was her.
Frowning with some irritation, Jonas didn’t understand why her face appeared in his mind even after their divorce.
Even divorced, he couldn’t shake her off?
Closing his eyes tightly, his mind uncontrollably thought of her today, her smile at Leon, serving food to Leon...
The more he thought about it, the more frustration built inside him.
He decisively picked up his phone, calling Leo Keane.
"Where are you?"
"I’m... at home." Leo quickly gestured to the group of young people moving to the rhythm in the vibrant lights behind him to lower their noise.
As someone who felt itchy all over if he didn’t go out and have fun for a day, he was definitely at a club at night!
But the truth couldn’t be told!
Life is about muddling through, what’s real or fake, why take it so seriously?
Unexpectedly, Jonas’s next sentence was, "Come out for a drink."
